  1. Love the gift you made for your gf. Very sweet, and I know she must have really appreciated it. Way to go on Goals 1, 2, & 3! Next week will be better for studying, I hope. Did you say that the process of finding your next match would take a week? Got my fingers crossed for east coast for you. I remember when some of my friends from school were going through all that - I know it's stressful, but you'll be okay in the end. Thanks for being a consistently present source of optimism and good cheer on these boards. You are awesome and an inspiration. Making your mushroom curry tomorrow, by the way. Yum!
  2. Thanks, you guys! I've been going big on sunshine. It's finally warm here again, so I'm getting as much as I can (with sunscreen, usually - pink skin today, though, so maybe a little more was warranted). Today was awesome. I got a lot of walking done, and weight-lifting too. I hate keeping up with a stroller when my kiddo isn't using it, so I just got rid of it. Now I carry her everywhere when she's tired of walking. She's 26 pounds, so it's not a lot, but it's not nothing either. My arms tell me so after a long walk with a tired girl. We went to the park, I chased her, we walked around downtown and windowshopped, I watched her eat a cannoli. We jumped on the trampoline back here at home. So fun.
  3. I've never been to DC, but I'd love to go sometime. Today was absolutely gorgeous here. I spent the day at the park with my kiddo and we walked around downtown, window shopping and soaking up sunshine (maybe a little too much... my shoulders are a little pink). I almost went to a St. Patrick's parade, but I decided to save all the jumping and hollering for tomorrow instead. The challenge for this week is kicking my ass every day. I am getting better at holding those poses, though. How's it going for everyone else? Here's to corned beef and cabbage! Happy St. Patrick's!
  4. Bacon is so fantastic!

      Long live Bacon!

  5. I am doing it. Started last night before I went to bed. 1 min each is all since I saw it so late. More today. Sent from my SCH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Okay, so I'm back. I let the overwhelming tide of EVERYTHING take over my life for the past week. School merged into mothering merged into Summer Institute interviews and prep merged into house upkeep and I felt like I was (am?) drowning for awhile. In a related note, I am self-diagnosing myself with Seasonal Affective Disorder, which I should really go see a doctor about (because I am willing to bet that a treatment of some kind would help me hold everything together a little better). I have to admit that I'm highly paranoid about putting weird (unnecessary?) medicines in my body, though, so I am going to have to force myself to think about it. Trying to stay positive in the mean time (and remind myself that mental illness is sometimes physiological and not always a failure of spirit). Anyway, needless to say after all that TMI that I sucked on my goals again this week. I didn't do nothing, exactly, but I did very little. I thought about giving up on this since I've sucked two weeks in a row, but then again, 6 weeks of sucking/sorta sucking is better than 2 weeks of sucking and 4 weeks of not even trying at all. So I'm still in this. I'm picking it all back up today. And I'm making sure to cook early this week so that I have zero excuse for eating evil food. Making a plan - tomorrow I am cooking paleo spaghetti for dinner. Scored big this weekend and actually found some grass-fed beef and some organic milk. Yay! Hubby will be doing something with that this week too. It's a new week! That's good news for moving forward. New day, new opportunities for awesome.
  7. Thanks, Honeysuckle. It's one of my classic flaws, to make to-do lists longer and more complicated than they really need to be. I need to stay focused - on simplicity! I think I need to subtract from that A since I let my busy-ness take over over the last week, but at least I didn't let it keep me away.
  8. You're doing an awesome job, Telemon! Don't worry about the loan. 4 weeks left is still some good time to get it taken care of.
  9. Sorry you didn't get into the program you wanted. I would say something nice, but Rebel Mel said it way better than I could've. I'll be thinking about you this week. Looks like you're doing an amazing job of keeping up with your goals overall, despite the stress! Keep up the good work!!
  10. I'm back... but without much to report. I've been so crazy busy I've done just about nada. I'm still in for 12.5 miles biked last week. Grimm, I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time right now. Depression sucks! Sending good thoughts your way! GeekAngel, whether you're doing the challenges or not, I love hearing from you about how you're doing! You're an important part of our group. I get being busy, though! Sorry I've been AWOL, you guys! My crazy busy week is over, thank goodness, so I'm going to be back on here a little bit more... and maybe getting a few more things done for my goals (I hope!)
  11. Thanks for the tip, Telemon. I might try that next time. I hate being sick! Goal 1: Shape up - Nothing... yet. I am about to head towards bed, and I am going to try to do some strength work before I hit the sack. ((1 workout?)) Goal 2: Ship out - Biked 12.5 miles today. I started out slow, but near the end it was more like interval training, with 30 seconds of hard pedaling followed by 30ish seconds on normal speed. ((21.8 miles)) Goal 3: Banish Evil - I forgot my lunch today again... so I ate the school cafe food. Red beans & rice = no and no. It is starting to feel like I'm trying to sabotage myself... But I just need to get better at prepping ahead of time. The other meals were fine. Breakfast was thrown together, but decent, and dinner was stellar - my husband made pork chops with some kind of apple/onion topping. Delicious! ((34 points)). Goal 4: Clean Up - Didn't do much with this today. ((5 points)) Sleep Goal - Not quite enough. ((3.5 points))
  12. This group commitment is really cool. I'm in for whatever we all decide. If we end up pooling, last week I walked 1.1 miles (so that's 4 miles?), & biked 8.2 miles. This week so far I'm in for 12.5 miles on bike.
  13. That sounds so good! I can't wait to try that. And I have all of that stuff on hand too. Perfect! And hey, all A's for the week! Keep it up! You're doing great!
  14. Goal 1: Shape up - Nothing. Today really filled up... I must make time for this tomorrow! ((1 workouts)) Week 1 score: F because I only got 33% of my goal for the week Goal 2: Ship out - Nothing today. Better try to do this tomorrow too, because my week is PACKED! ((9.3 miles)) Week 1 score: F because I only got 37% of my goal for the week Goal 3: Banish Evil - I turned this goal on its head so that it focuses more on the positive side of things. Now I count my awesome points for resisting temptation. I am now getting up to 5 awesome points a day toward a goal of 204, which after today puts me at ((30 points)). Now I really feel productive. Week 1 score: F because I am eating 86% paleo-friendly meals instead of my goal of at minimum 90%. Not too far off, but it could use work. Goal 4: Clean Up - I guess today was a day off? Nothing here either. ((5 points)) Week 1 score: A because I got almost 2 weeks worth of work done on this goal this week. Hurrah! Sleep Goal - More great sleep was enjoyed. ((3.5 points)) Week 1 score: F because that's only 50% of the score I might have had if only... So I've got some work to do! All those F's look bad, but I forgive myself the sick time. The coming week is fraught with obstacles... I've got social/professional obligations Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, so I've got to plan to do both cardio and strength training on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday/Sunday. One good thing (I suppose in this context) is that my Athena girl is going on vacation with her grandparents Wednesday - Friday, and that opens up a ton of time on those nights. I read an article on the main site today about being super productive. One of the things I want to try that I read about was having 3 main goals for each day. I am big on to-do lists, but they eventually turn into gargantuan, unwieldy things that serve to make me feel like I'm being crushed under their weight. So I'm going to try this Big 3 plan. Goals for tomorrow: Pay Bills, Finish lesson plans, Strength train. There are more things I want to do, but those are 3 important ones, anyway.
