  1. Finally have a chance to sit down and grade this challenge. Let's see how I did. 1. Eat at least 80% paleo. Assigned: CON - 4 I did really well with this, so I gave it an A. Earned: CON - 4 2. Complete one real pull up. Assigned: STR - 3 I very nearly completed a real pull up. (I could do one kinda.) So I gave it a B. Earned: STR - 2.25 3. Work out at least 5 days a week. Assinged: STR - 1; DEX - 1; STA - 1 I did really poorly with this. D. Earned: STR - .25; DEX - .25; STA - .25 4. Decide on and officially change my major. Assigned: WIS - 4; CHA - 1 Done and changed. Loving my new major. A. Earned: WIS - 4; CHA - 1 Not bad for a first attempt. I had fun.
  2. Trans guy right here! Definitely loving how working out and eating right is giving me a more masculine body composition.
  3. Hey guys! Just figured I'd give you an update on how my week has been. I've been doing well with eating paleo. In the cafeteria, I've been mostly sticking to eggs and salads since they're readily available, adding meat when I can get something other than a greasy burger or fried chicken. I also have my fridge full of veggies and meats and fish and eggs and a stockpile of nuts and some fruit. I like to cook and the kitchen is just down the hall so I've made a few omelettes and I'm making stir fry later this week. I'm probably hosting a little Super Bowl party since I have the biggest tv among my friends, so I'll be making food for that too. Still working on my pull up. I discovered in the shower this morning that the shower curtain rod is like heavy duty bolted into the wall and can actually support my weight completely, so I'll be using that as my new pull up bar in my room. I've been seriously slacking on dedicated workouts, but I did have to carry all of my stuff back into my room over the weekend and I've been walking everywhere on and around campus. I also live on the fourth floor of my building and always take the stairs. Plus my dorm is at the top of a hill and my classes are at the bottom. So that helps. I submitted my change of major paperwork today, so now I just have to wait for them to process it and update it in the system. I'm taking 18 credits of Media Communication classes and I'm loving it. Definitely a great idea to switch my major to this. The professors are all really cool and I've already learned a bunch and we've just started.
  4. Yeah the red tape is kinda annoying. I finally got most of it sorted out. And by most of it I mean I was all set to register for my new classes but then I realized I needed my registration pin from my old adviser. So hopefully he responds to my email early tomorrow morning and I can find openings in all the classes I need. Yesterday was just a miserable day for me so I got absolutely nothing done, but I'm back on board today and good to go. I got in a nice workout inside since it's below freezing outdoors and a few sets of inverted body weight rows aren't worth frostbite. So I did some assisted pull ups instead. I'm putting together my shopping list since my mom agreed to buy me lots of food for my dorm. Any suggestions for awesome paleo things I should get? Especially things I can keep in bulk that last a while and don't require a freezer since I've got a really small fridge in my dorm.
  5. Hey guys. For my workouts I've been alternating strength training and cardio days to give my muscles time to rest. And if it was a really tough workout, I put a full rest day after it. As for my major, I'm looking to switch it to media communication & technology. I'm waiting to hear back from the department head, but hopefully I'll get approved to switch. As for my progress on my goals: I'm still at home so I've got nothing better to do than spend time cooking my own food, so eating mostly, if not just about entirely paleo has been pretty easy. I'm going food shopping this weekend before I move back into my dorm, so hopefully I can convince my mom to pay for my new paleo food stockpile. I've been doing inverted body weight rows on the A beam on the side of my swingset, and I'm seeing progress with my numbers. I also pulled out my brother's pull up bar on Monday and attempted a pull up. Which I almost completed. So i'm really hyped about how well this goal is going. I just hope I can find something to do the rows on when I get back to school. I only worked out 4 days last week, so I'm gonna try to get all five in this week. It's difficult because it's really cold outside. At least I won't have this problem after i go back to school, even though it'll be just as cold (if not colder, since it's in the mountains) because the school has two nice big fitness centers with lots of free weights. And for my major, like I said, I'm waiting to hear back from people so I can fix my classes. I asked about the paperwork and they just said to fill it out once school starts because my old and new advisers need to sign it. So that should be finished early next week. I hope.
  6. Hey! I'm new to Nerd Fitness and just started lurking on the forums when I found this thread. I'm glad that it's here. I'm a queer trans guy, pre-op and pre-T. I'm definitely excited about getting in shape and the results I'm seeing so far, however small, are really encouraging. I carry most of my body fat in my hips unfortunately, which gets me misgendered a lot. So I'm working to reduce my body fat and build up lots of muscle to fix that. Also totally agree on the Ryan Sallans being awesome thing.
  7. So I've been lurking around Nerd Fitness for the past few weeks and started working on improving my life. I figured why not just jump in all the way and do the challenges. I've been eating about 80% paleo for about two weeks now and I'm loving it. I've also started doing bodyweight exercises and some interval training. It's been working out pretty well for me since I'm still home on break from school, but I'm a bit worried about keeping it up once I'm busy again. Anyway here are my goals for the challenge: 1. Eat at least 80% paleo. I've been doing pretty well with this so far since I have loads of time to cook food and pretty much nothing else to do. This will become a lot more difficult when I go back to school since my time and resources will be limited and I'll be stuck with attempting to find healthy food in the school cafeteria. CON - 4 2. Complete one real pull up. I'm pretty sure I've never been able to do one before, so this is a pretty big deal for me. I've been working up to it over the past few weeks and I'm on inverted bodyweight rows. As long as I can find something to do them on when I'm back at school, I'll be golden. STR - 3 3. Work out at least 5 days a week. It's been working for me so far since I started this. Whether it's strength training or running or whatever, I know I've been feeling better on days I've done something, so I definitely want to make it a priority to find a little time for it each day when I go back to school. STR - 1 DEX - 1 STA - 1 4. Decide on and officially change my major. Half of this battle is picking a new major, the other half is going through the process of getting the change approved. Gotta love school administration, right? While ideally this needs to be done within the next week, I might have some leeway with the paperwork and such. But I do need to decide on something before school starts so that I can fix my class schedule. WIS - 4 CHA - 1 Let's do this.
