  1. I have been struggling with depression for the past few years too. I think one thing that both my therapist and psychiatrist have said that was helpful was this. There is a flow of ups and downs in life and especially in depression. (Sounds cheesy I know. Bear with me). When you have those times where you feel better, those are glimpses of the place you want to be. You can look at them and see what was different about those times (maybe even write it down). With proper help (be it medication, therapy, exercise, or whatever will work for you) those times of feeling better will last a little longer and the negative times will get a little shorter until eventually you are where you want to be. I am still in the midst of my recovery from depression and I can say that for me that gives me hope. It is really helpful to look at those better times and see what thought processes were different and how I can try to implement those better thought processes in the bad times. Sometimes for me it is a struggle to get through even just the next moment but the evidence so far shows that I have gotten through to the next moment for over 22 years, so I tell myself I will be okay.
  2. 1. My knee has stopped hurting and I can start getting back in to lifting! 2. Today I have not felt the depression as much as usual. 3. I have unfiltered apple juice I bought to drink LOVE APPLE JUICE!
  3. Knee has been hurting. Trying to figure out how to get good workouts in without injuring it. Thoughts?

  4. thank you for the welcome and encouragement guys! I'm excited for this whole process.
  5. How do I create a workout routine that includes a sandbag? I am just beginning and have focused on bodyweight workouts so far. I want to try to use extra weight now to build muscle and I saw the article that listed some videos that show sandbag exercises. How do I build a routine that uses those exercises?
  6. Fantastic! These look wonderful! I was the youngest female blacksmith in my state's artist blacksmith association for a while. My dad still does it and I think it is incredibly cool. I think it is pretty awesome that you made the switch and started your own shop. Props for pursuing your passion!
  7. Hello! I am a 22-year-old college student looking to live a healthier life. I found this blog about a month ago and it really clicked. It stood out from the other research I had done. I am not overweight by any means, but I want to get some healthy habits started now. I also take medication that can cause weight gain. I thought it wouldn't affect me. I have always been sooooo thin! Low and behold, I started gaining weight and freaking out a little bit. I have wanted to build some sort of exercise into my routine for a long time but could never keep anything going for more than a week or two. This time I have made it an entire month working out (approximately) every other day and eating mostly paleo! Wooot! I even turned my boyfriend paleo because apparently my paleo cooking is fantastic Anyway, I thought it would be a good thing to become a part of the online community. I get discouraged because it feels like I am fighting an uphill battle with this medication. I want to keep going, though, and not give up and celebrate my small successes. shout out to my fellow newbies! -B
