  1. Thanks for the replies, Paul and farflight. As I have a very limited social life (mostly by choice, lol) and am usually surrounded by health conscious people, temptations from outside forces aren't my main problem. Night snacking/gorging after the kiddos are in bed is usually the hardest time for me, but I've been trying to brush my teeth right after dinner to keep from eating (people, it my dental routine takes over five minutes each night, so like heck I'm gonna do it twice), that helps. Ok, so a small change that I know I can do. I think I can do that. No eating after dinner, and add another vegetable at lunch (I can choke down those carrot sticks if I put my mind to it, by golly ) We'll see how we do. Thanks again, guys!
  2. So here's the deal. Anytime I say out loud, or even start THINKING about eating better and weaning myself off junk food, that seems to be my subconscious cue to eat everything in sight. Example: "I'm going to stop eating sugar this week just to see if I can do-- NOM! NOM! NOM! NOM!!" Any ideas on how to overcome mental barricades that prohibit any form of permanent change? I know habit building takes time, and that I should make little, attainable goals to shoot for instead of trying to change everything at once. Has anyone overcome their habit-controlled brain that can gimme a little boost? Thanks
  3. I use one called the 7-minute workout. It's free, and it's a quick HIIT run through that works upper, lower, and your abs. To do the whole workout with the rests in betweem takes about 8 1/2 minutes, but you can do as many reps as you want.
  4. I've always liked downward dog and the warrior poses. I tried my first crow a couple nights ago and was having a lot of fun trying to get it.
  5. I started this random 30 Days of Yoga I found on YouTube, and I haven't quit! I'm still doing it and am on Day 9! Usually by this time something happens to detail me, but even though I missed a couple days due to other obligations during my "me" time, I looked forward to getting back on track with my yoga here's to Day 10 tomorrow!
  6. I messed up even before I started trying to be good today :/ At the grocery store, I had every intention of sticking to the healthier items on my list and no more. But I came to the store with three kids in tow, all famished and thirsty from cleaning four horse pens after being gone for a week (that's a LOT of poop!) And rather than going home to recharge and refeul before packing everybody into the car again, I decided to get all my errands done in one fell swoop. So, famished and thirsty, we walk by the clearance racks where the bakery ladies had just finished stocking the shelves with extremely marked down baked goods. My kids sais, "Cupcakes!" and I said, "Donuts!" and that was my breakfast and lunch today...Blast. But I've already respawned a teeny bit by eating a decently healthy dinner, and am going to start working out tonight (I LOVE to exercise, once I get past the starting point) while watching Supernatural. I can do this!!
  7. I have NO white sugar in my house! I used the rest, and have not bought anymore these past two weeks!! That means no cookies or brownies (staple comfort foods of mine. Baking is soothing haha) and all my family must suffer...I mean...TRIUMPH! with me in this small victory against processed white sugar! Muhahahaha! My husband and a couple friends told me (half-jokingly) last night that this was a tragedy but I think it's great! Also, I bought a big ol' bag o' broccoli florets at Costco and am steaming some for lunch/dinner everyday. Boo yah.
  8. I read the novels of Georgette Heyer OVER and OVER. They are the ultimate comfort food in my reading world haha. I also crack open LOTR, Jane Austen, and Charles Dickens every few years or so. I've ket track of every book I've read since 2004 so I can look back and see which ones I've been neglecting
  9. Way to go! Celebrate by doing more haha
  10. Way to go!! Those things are HARD!!! Glad you stuck with it
  11. Hello! I'm still very new to Nerd Fitness and the Rebellion, and have been doing pretty well as far as making small changes for the better in my active and eating life, but a few weeks ago the hubby and I found out we're pregnant (Yay!) and I was wondering if any of you had any advice or stories about keeping fit and eating healthy throughout pregnancy. I know I need to talk to my doctor and decide what's best for me, but I'd love to hear any experiences any of you may have, thanks!
  12. Way to go!! You're looking great
