  1. Hello everyone! I am finally starting Paleo and am finally going to start working out. Of course, I decided to start right after having surgery on my right ankle. I am in a cast up to my right knee. Does anyone have any workout ideas or has anyone done certain workouts while in a cast? I will be in this cast for 3 months and I have made to many excuses for way to may years about why I can't start healthier eating and/or exercise. If I can start through this and actually stick with it then I am capable of anything. Advice, ideas, etc? Please help. Thanks everyone!
  2. Hey everyone! Quick question about Crossfit...think back to the first week you startes crossfit... How was it? Was it easy to get the groove of it? Any advice for someone who is iterested in doing it? Also, is this something an overweight person can just start doing or should the person be a little fit before starting? Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

  4. I found a.doctor and all he said exercise wise is no running. Anything else should be fine so im open to ideas now!
  5. I am 80 pounds overweight. I am a male, weigh 248 and am only 5' 7". I started Paleo a week ago and am doing great..no junk food, sugar, pop...i cook everything with organic, free range, grass fed ingrediants, nothing boxed. Now phase 2- exercise plan. *What does everyone do for exercise? *Whats a great exercise program to lose weight, get lean and gain muscle? *Any websites with advice/programs, etc? Please let me know...I'm ready to get this fat out of my body! Thanks!
  6. Coconut milk...Where do I find it? Online? Or is it something I could make? Recipe? I found 1 brand in the organic section at Wegmans but it was flavored and had some preservative in it... something with "gum" in it. Also found it is the Asian section but it had a bunch of stuff besides coconut and water. SO no success there. Thanks!!
  7. Well...thanks everyone for the advice/comments/sort-of-debate. I appreciate the opinions of everyone. I have been doing allot of research and have bought a couple books the past couple days on Paleo (The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet and The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and boundless energy) so more research is being done. Also, to CoreyD, I have signed up for livestrong/myplate....really awesome website. Seems to have easy tracking. For weight loss goal it says I can consume only 1,011 calories a day. Really appreciate all the help from everyone...I post on nerd fitness forums allot and it seems to be the same people who comment...CoreyD, Philociraptor, Oystergirl, and Lorenwade. Thanks guys and girls! You all have really helped me change/alter my diet/life properly!

  10. Lose! Definitely. I have been overweight for years now...my start weight was 250...and I am a short guy...only 5' 7". And exercise level is something...I am doing Wii Fit for a week or two...it said I burned 208 calories in my workout last night. I wanted to do an easy/quick work-out for the first week or 2 of my diet...I want to get Paleo started correctly first and stick with it then move on to a weight training program after week 2. I felt mostly full...slight hunger pains 3-4 hours after eating so that's good.
  11. Okay...Here is what I ate the first day on Paleo. Is it enough? I went from eating fast food, out to dinner, junk food, and soda whenever I wanted so I was easily consuming at least 2500 calories a day...Disgusting! Breakfast 2 Free-Range Eggs and 2 Egg Whites Scrambled w/ Chives, Garlic Salt, Pepper and a Pinch of salt. A large organic apple Water Lunch 8-10 ounces of roasted Organic, free-range broiler chicken with skin garlic, rosemary and lemon 1 cup of oven roasted carrots with pepper and a dab of virgin coconut oil water Dinner 5 Ounces Organic Sirloin Steak 1 Cup Romaine Lettuce 1 Cup baby spinach No dressing Water Snack During Work Handful of Almonds (16-18 pieces) Does it sound like enough or is it too little? I need to lose weight and gain muscle so it's based on that.
  12. Okay Everyone! Thanks again for all the advice! On Day 2 of Cold-Turkey...No Sugar, Caffeine, Soda, Etc... I feel really good actually...slight headache... Last night at work again I started getting a major headache- took Excedrin and I was fine after 10 minutes. Also day 2 of Paleo...I KNOW it's just water weight but I am down 8 pounds already! Damn! lol Talk about being motivated!
  13. I meant carmalized in color, whoops! skin was golden and delicious! Thanks for your thoughts! But yeah..just lemon zest, garlic, pepper, rosemary and 1 Tbsp oil.... Soooo good! My fiance could have eaten the whole chicken himself!
  14. I just cooked 2 free-range, organic broiler chicken with garlic, lemon zest and rosemary...DELICIOUS!!! As I was eating...I wondered...On Paleo is it okay to eat the outside (skin) of chicken...that has all the delicious carmalized herbs on it. Seems like a stupid question but I want to make sure I'm doing this right. Thanks!!!
  15. Allot of Paleo recipes I find use Virgin Coconut Oil but some use Olive Oil. How do you know what's best? By looking on the Labels...They both have 120 Calories and 14 grams of fat per 1 Tablespoon but Olive Oil has 2grams of Saturated fat and 10 grams monounsaturated fat while Coconut oil has 12 grams of Saturated fat and only 1 gram of Monounsaturated fat.... So isn't Olive Oil better for you? I thought Saturated fat was the bad stuff? I'm confused. Which is better for you, Olive or Coconut Oil?!
