  1. I'm pretty excited this morning. I finally broke the 170 mark... I weighed in at 169 lbs. So I quickly took a photo of my progress. The resolution is not that great since I needed to reduce the file size due to the new forum format.
  2. When I met my wife thirteen years ago I weighed 165 lbs. I called that my “dating weightâ€. We have framed photos around the house of those times... a reminder that I can do it. My current challenge is to break the 170 lbs line, but would really like to get to 165 lbs, again. I am finding that focusing on my diet is the only way to get to those numbers. I told my wife we should “Sexercise†three times a week to reach our fitness goals. She told me diet is the key?! Here are my Day 216 Progress Photos:
  3. 500 cal deficit + Tabata Sprints 3x a week. I'm at the 7 month mark and this is what is working for me at this point in the journey. Hope that help, -Heatwave
  4. Thanks Dexter101 and No Regrets Lifestyle, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Getting online 'high fives' really helps me stay on target. I know when I can feel comfortable shirtless at the pool is when I will feel like I've made it. (More of a mental goal than physical goal). -Heatwave
  5. Slow and Steady… Ever since I was a teenager, I would always wear two t-shirts. I think I did it because it helped hide my body more. Usually, I would wear a plain white T-shirt and then another T-shirt or button up shirt on top of it. Recently, I’ve started to feel more comfortable with my body that I’ve stopped wearing two t-shirts?! I didn’t really realize it till yesterday… that I’m slowly undoing some deep seeded body insecurities. Sometimes I think it’s harder to change the mental aspect of this journey. Earlier this year I felt like I hit a weight loss plateau. Since then I’ve really focused on my diet and I’m now losing about a pound a week. J I eat one meal on the weekend of whatever I want. And the rest of the time I eat paleo and maintain a 500 calorie deficit. Here’s my progress: Thanks for reading, -Heatwave
  6. Congrats!!! I'm hoping I can do a muscle up one day, too?! -Heatwave
  7. This past weekend I took my kids to the local playground. My 7 y/o son is a climber. He loves the circular shaped monkey bar that spins. It’s has about a 6 foot radius and when spinning my son’s legs fly out a bit. I’m finally strong enough that I can hold onto the spinning bar, too! So we made a game of it… to see who could hold on the longest. To my surprise, I was able to hold on longer than my son?! To his surprise, after he let go and was standing up from the rubber playground mat… I continued spinning around and ended up kneeing him in the back of the head. Parent = Fail. Here’s my progress photos: -Heatwave
  8. February has been a focus on diet. (Still going to the gym and lifting heavy things... however, having trouble staying motivated to do sprints). After starting my journey about six months ago... this month, my wife really got on board with trying to eat mostly paleo. During the workweek we eat paleo... because there is a schedule. The weekends we end up eating a non-paleo dinner on Saturday and then on Sunday. Been doing the intermittent fasting from Sunday night to Monday night. I didn't really realize how far I've come until I started comparing photos... I'm glad I took photos at the very beginning - even though I was embarrassed (and no one knows I'm taking them... not even my wife?!) -Heatwave
  9. You are busy liv'n for sure! Congrats for making a difference in the world! -Heatwave
  10. Thank you, Roamer & Revan- I appreciate the positive comments! -Heatwave
  11. Thank you, Ferguson911 & Katnroyal - I appreciate the positive feedback! Gets me motivated. -Heatwave
  12. I've made it to my halfway mark today! Day 180 out of 360. I've been sick this past week, so I haven't been able to do my sprints or lift weights. I ate way too much junk food this past weekend when visiting friends and enjoying the Super Bowl. I wonder if being around a lot of people (new germs), eating poorly and drinking way too much alcohol got me sick. I'm saying it did... that should help convince me not to do those things. Being sick this week has zapped my motivation. I feel as soon as I get back into the gym - I will be able to relight that fire. On a positive note, my wife has also started working out and eating paleo. I told her getting in shape will be 90% diet. I feel like she is on board now... which I'm pretty happy about!
  13. The dance style was just songs you would typically would hear at an American wedding. Our 'style' probably looked like we had ants in our pants?! -Heatwave
  14. I joined Nerd Fitness a little over six months ago. Since then, I've gotten rid of some bad eating habits, gotten stronger and gained confidence. Last night, my 9 y/o daughter and I won 2nd place at the Father-Daughter Valentine's Day dance competition?! Before NF, you would of found me grazing the buffet - instead of on the dance floor. For the February Challenge, I'm continuing to focus on my diet. Here are my results so far: -Heatwave
