  1. Can you tilt your pelvis forward and back without problems? (Can you do cat and cow poses in yoga?) Is it a habit of bad posture, or are you physically too stiff to get to the correct position? My experience with PT for back issues was that that choosing an exercise was guess and check. We'd try a motion that was giving trouble, try a set of the exercise, then try the motion again to see if it helped or hurt. If it helped, I did a set spaced out several times across the day for a few days. Then we'd do the same thing again. If you don't want to see a doctor, you could try some exercises you found in your research that you think might help. On the other hand, if you think it's more a bad habit, you might try simply doing exercises you can do with correct posture, and then checking and correcting your posture during the day. The more you think about it and practice good posture, the more you'll use it automatically.
  2. 1 and 2: I confess, I'm working with the Down Dog app. I have done classes and similar kinds of exercise in the past, though, so I'm pretty in touch with what works for my body and how to adapt. I'm not overly concerned about injury. 3: Yes, I'm also building up better eating habits. I'm just trying to figure out if/when yoga counts as strength training.
  3. Convict Conditioning is pretty much designed for this situation. The other obvious option is yoga.
  4. You're probably posting in the wrong spot for Cincinnati- try Midwest. Central America is south of Mexico.
  5. Greetings, fellow rebels! Forgive me if this is covered somewhere I didn't see. I'm brand new. I'm starting to build up exercise habits, and I've discovered that I love love LOVE yoga. But when it came to adding in some official strength training this week (via the beginner bodyweight workout), I haaaaated it. Reps are boring. Circuits are boring. Reps in circuits are (boring)². I thought my brain was going to melt out my ears. My first step toward druid-assassin glory is weight loss, and I gather that the recommended NF approach is 1. Work the heart hard for short intervals and 2. Lift heavy things for few reps. (Did I get that right?) My question is, can I cover this with yoga? I've been alternating faster flow days (which get my heart moving pretty quickly and has more adventurous poses) with restorative days (slower, poses held longer). Does that pretty much cover my exercise bases? Or am I setting myself up for defeat by neglecting something major? Thanks for helping!
