    SNES plays F-ZERO

I have some glorious sinus junk going on, but I made it to the gym two days in a row. Today's was a really good one.

SNES enters lap 2 in the lead! I had a great week 1, hitting both my workout and food logging goals. I also got a digital scale with body fat percentage measuring capability on a Christmas sale. Keeping track of bf% will be a much more useful metric than weight after these first few weeks. I did have a heel issue start to bother me, the result of what I think was a few weeks of overtraining. I took two days off and feel much better. 179.6 lbs 9.7% bf

Had a great workout with a new workout partner today, that makes my two this week! I also got this on my Fitbit. Time to set a new goal there, too!

Here are logs from Wed and Thurs. Thurs is a few hundred calories short because I took the band off to charge. I ate a lot at dinner to help me have energy for a good lifting session at lunch today.

I set my benchmarks today, it felt great! 1:57 for 500 m row 1:51 for burpees 1:19 for push-ups 37 for GHD sit-ups 178.8 lbs, 19.3% body fat, 25.3 BMI I also hung around and got a good workout in.

My first-ever challenge will be done in honor of one of the original games released with the system at launch and the first SNES game I ever played: F-ZERO! F-ZERO is set in the future, and my goal for this challenge is to establish a routine of fitness and healthy eating that I can maintain from now until 2026. 1. For each lap (week) of this challenge, I want to hit two checkpoints. First, I want to log two workouts per week, and second, I want to log five days of tracking my calories in and out through my Fitbit. 2. F-ZERO is a race, so I will spend this challenge getting faster! I will set my benchmark times for the following exercises tomorrow and compare to my results at the end of the challenge. 500 m row 20 push-ups 20 burpees 20 GHD sit-ups Ready!
  7. The next three days will be tough, so I'll celebrate a good streak while I'm on it.
  8. Ideas for a challenge: wearing Fitbit, 2* workouts, don't stack bad eating days on top of each other, tire flip total maybe? I'd also like to do kipping pull ups some day, that will take time. Sent from my VIVO XL using Tapatalk
  9. Walked 2.5 miles during lunch, then did this at the gym, a mix of weights and cycling.
  10. I also want to work a step goal in, that's an easy way to stay conscious about moving throughout the day. Plus it's an easy thing to update here, like so!
  11. Awesome, what a cool hobby! I loaded some emulators onto a Raspberry Pi, that's been my approach to keeping the love alive. It's not user friendly but it works surprisingly well. I have a tendency to set really big audacious goals, with mixed results. My plan for this next challenge is to keep them modest so I can get a taste of success. I have experience with loving the gym and exercise, so I want to get back to that mindset. I think my plan for the next four weeks is to set an exercise goal for two workouts a week and a diet goal to not stack two bad days back to back. I think the mindfulness and commitment will help me stack a few wins in a row!
  12. If you are reading the NF intros, you must be a cool person interested in supporting others. Go you! I'm a married dad in his thirties, a grad student, and I have a great job. Together, though, there is a lot of stress and fitness and nutrition can take a back seat. I used to have a bulletproof metabolism, but those days are gone and I've got some brain retraining to do. I'm here to log my progress and to be inspired by you. Have a great day!
