  1. Update Week 1/start of 2 Diet - Drink at least 2 litres of water a day Very successful so far. I've drunk the 2 litres almost every day and on the 2 days I didn't, I still drank far more than i would normally.. Fitness - Go for a 15 minute walk everyday Very successful, I managed to go for the walk 6/7 days first week. It wasn't long, and often involved walking to somewhere I needed to be, but it was something. On days where I know I won't be leaving the house I will make the explicit aim to go for this walk. Fitness - Do a basic workout 3 days a week/go to the gym No luck first week :/ I was so busy with work i barely thought to do my home workout. However upon the start of week 2 I signed up and went to the gym (some cardio and basic weights, about 40 mins) and have been twice this week. I am hoping to go 3-4 times this week and continue this trend throughout the challenge Level Up - Stick to a regular morning and work routine This has been successful most days. I've occasionally got up slightly earlier/later, but I've always stuck to the routine each time. I should specify it doesn't include weekends, which i did not think of until my first weekend of the challenge.
  2. Thanks everyone for the advice! Yeah you were right about the water Ennue, so i'm just filling up cups and bottles from a 2L bottle in the fridge whenever I need it. As for breakfast, I tend not to eat it (which yeah, not smart), but I'm likely gonna build regular a breakfast into my next challenge. I forgot to add the actual details for the routine so here it is: Mon - Fri 7:30 - Wake up, coffee, breakfast (maybe) 8:00 - Shower, brush teeth, get dressed 9:00 - Start studying/go to lectures (varies week to week) Nothing complicated but enough to get me into a good habit building routine
  3. Hi everyone This is my first proper challenge, and one of my first posts. I tried to join the last challenge a week late but the combined late start and Christmas period meant it ended in failure. I wanna start the new year the best I can, and this is how i'm gonna do it. Diet - Drink at least 2 litres of water a day I don't drink nearly enough water to be healthy, let alone stay hydrated. The plan is to fill up a 2 Litre bottle every morning and aim to have finished it by the end of the day. I'll still drink coffee, but absolutely no carbonated drinks. Fitness - Go for a 15 minute walk everyday As a student with a lot of essays to do, I'm stuck inside most of the day. It can get quite dull, making work a whole lot harder to look at. Hopefully a walk around my local park around midday will give me some fresh air and cheer me up a bit, making the rest of my work a little bit easier. Fitness - Do a basic workout 3 days a week/go to the gym I do no regular exercise, so this is my first attempt to get into a healthy pattern that will hopefully build into regular, longer workout sessions. I have signed up to a gym just down the road to my house, but I may not have time first week due to work. So I've altered my challenge to be any 3 workouts a week. If its from home, the workout is just 2-3 sets of a slightly altered version of the beginners body-weight workout. Level Up - Stick to a regular morning and work routine As a final year college student, I really need more structure to help me work more efficiently, and get me moving during the day. For this I've come up with a simple morning routine with the hope to make my life more organised. Wake up at a set time everyday, shower, brush, simple as that, with no procrastinating in the middle. I'm not sure if this is to easy/difficult for a first challenge. I don't want to over-complicate it but I also don't want it to be too easy. Advice would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to everyone on their first challenge of the year!!
  4. Hi everyone! I'm James, I'm a 20yo student from the UK. This is my first challenge, and i realise i'm starting really late, but I figured I may as well get involved rather than wait till the next challenge to get started! I will hopefully carry these quests into the next 4 week challenge, along with some extra ones. 5. Hey Everyone I'm James, I'm new to the forums but i've been reading the NF articles and news for about a year. A few years ago I set myself a goal of getting fit, losing weight, and overall being more productive, and I succeeded. Unfortunately since then, 2 and a half years later, I'm back where i started (if not worse). I'm gained a significant amount of weight, and I am hopelessly unfit. I've tried many times to get into new, better habits, but they tend not to last longer than a week before some terrible excuse (studying, hungover, work, etc.) gets in the way and stops progress. I have little motivation anymore, and very little energy. I'm a student in final year at uni, so a normal day mostly consists of being stuck in front of a laptop for hours, only to relax in a similar way later. I make all my own meals, but they are pretty carb heavy. My exercise at the moment consists of the (very) occasional run, which I hate, and walking to and from campus each day. I've realised my mistakes from before were expecting results far too soon and, and trying to change far too many habits at a time. I'm trying to come up with a new plan, making small changes week by week, but I struggling to work anything out. I can't afford a gym membership, but I own weights. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone starting out fresh, with the aim to lose weight, eat healthy, and generally achieve a healthier lifestyle? P.S. I'm sorry if this is all a little vague, but i really have no idea what I'm doing!
  6. Hey Everyone I'm JarmyA. I'm a university student from the UK. I've been trying to improve my life for some time now. Dieting, exercising, finding new hobbies, but it always seems to fail and I end up back at day 1 again in a mater of weeks. I've been reading through the NF articles and emails for some time now and have decided to join the forums to get some extra help. I'm hoping that starting the 4 week challenge and giving myself small but achievable goals, i can finally get to where I want to be. Gonna stick with being a rebel for now as i have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm hoping to be more of an adventurer/ranger type eventually. Any tips for a beginner?
