WORKOUT SONGS!

Recommended Posts

I am looking to expand my workout playlist, and I am sure many other people are too. I'm sure you have a song or two that really gets you going and in the zone.

What are your favorite workout songs? Post a YouTube link if possible so others can check it out easily!

well, this is certainly a matter of personal Taste!

I find that Devil Theory by Jeff Loomis is a good one. It's instrumetal and it's pretty high octane!

The Mirror by Dream Theater is another good one. A different kind of metal but, it gets the juices flowing and it's also a song about confronting yourself so, it works well.

Basie by Tatsuya Takahashi and the Tokyo Union is also good! That one just makes me smile!

300 Soundtrack? Smash Brothers Soundtrack? DBZ SOUNDTRACK? I think anything that you associate with high energy will be good. On top of that, anything you associate with badasses. I usually don't have a workout "playlist," I just have a bunch of hardcore metal that makes me want to get through it. RHYTHM!

Okay okay, this is important.

A song with a constant rhythm, that maintains a rigid tempo and isn't so free flowing, this is critical, IMO. It forces you to follow it's pace (unless i'm just messed up, being a musician and all) but, I do pushups to songs like that where the meter is constant (The mirror) and even the melody's pace doesn't shift at all. Very slightly. The point is, if the song's pace is constant, you will move at that pace. Combined with the motivation of the music for the workout, you will push your limits to an insane new degree

I am open to ALL kinds of music! I am really not a picky person when it comes to music; I appreciate it all and am willing to give anything a go. I even listened to something odd called Tuvan throat singing at the suggestion of a friend once. It was... uh... interesting.

Figured since I started this whole thing, I could chip in. Here are some essentials in my workout playlist. I expand the playlist often but these are some songs that I find are always present when I'm doing fast-paced workouts or weightlifting. When I do things like yoga, it's obviously much softer stuff. :P

Manic Street Preachers -- "Bag Lady"

The Strokes -- "What Ever Happened?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urgI-CvtmCM

The Cool Kids -- "Black Mags"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGgD4XjPbPc

Kanye West ft. Dwele -- "Flashing Lights"

(I'm totally aware how much of an ass Kanye is, lol. Also nsfw video.)

Rammstein -- "Ich Tu Dir Weh"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU1wLryjuEw

Pink Floyd -- "One Slip"

I love Heidi Newfield's "What Am I Waiting For" on the album of the same name.

In fact, the whole album is great.

Devil Driver's cover of "Sail" is pretty good. but i tend to like most things with double bass.

been listening to a lot a LOT of behemoth and amon amarth lately. favorite songs to work out to are

devil driver - end of the line

winds of plague - the great stone war

queen - don't stop me now

mastodon - the last baron

PanterA - slaughtered, 5 minutes alone

fear factory - zero signal, timelessness(usually used for a cool down)

sepultura - roots bloody roots

meatloaf - paradise by the dashboard lights

volbeat - a broken man and the dawn

and various others, but these tend to get the most out of me.

I am open to ALL kinds of music!

It's very rare to find someone who says that and it's actually true.

Mostly I listen to Metalcore.  Pretty much anything by In This Moment, Killswitch Engage, or All That Remains works for me.

Specifically, "Comanche" by ITM, "New Awakening" by KSE, and "Won't Go Quietly" by ATR.

Also, virtually any Classic Rock like Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Queen, Pink Floyd, etc. is great.

I like music with no lyrics so I can focus on the beat. Right now I've been listening to a lot of Professor Kliq. Guns Blazin' at 7:25 is one of my favorites and always gets me moving.

I think you just put the link text in as plain text on a line of its own. The twist is that you need to have a "proper" URL for it. One of the posts above has "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbp7prjDf5Q", whereas yours is a compressed "youtu.be" address.

This one always pumps me up and gets me excited and pushes me a little farther: Metallica - Ride the Lightning

I love epic music and it always lifts my spirits and motivates me that little bit more than others: Two Steps From Hell - Protectors of the Earth, Heart of Courage

In the same vain: Audiomachine - Guardians at the Gate

From the soundtrack of the most recent Tomb Raider Game: Crossroads

In my opinion one of the best complete albums of the last 10 years and perfect for any sort of workout, running especially: The Glitch Mob ~ Drink the Sea

One of those songs. The title already states the direction, can't stop won't stop. I love this one: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop

This one always gets me going: Kraddy - Android Porn

The name once more fits the bill. Chorus pure motivation: Eminem - Survival

If you want it LOUD: As I Lay Dying - Through Struggle, In Flames - Pinball Map, Dark Tranquility - Monochromatic Stains

And of course, can't miss this classic that'll always send shivers down my spine even when it's sunny and 90 degrees out: Requiem for a Dream

My music changes all the time as I find new things that I take a fancy to, but lately I've really been feeling "Brighter" by patent pending.

Here:

This song gets me pumped faster than anything. I love heavy-bag training whilst listening to this one.

This one soundtrack is from the first anime that I ever watched. BEST song for running in the mornings, in my opinion.

And this one is perfect for a warm-down, and even more perfect for a walk back home in the evening after training. It's just so chill and it gives me this warm, fuzzy feeling in my stomach after a hard workout.. =D
