CourtnieMarie
hmm, unfortunately, to my knowledge, there isn't really a tailgating scene at Fenway. the area around the ballpark just doesn't have room for it. there is no "parking lot" there are parking garages and that sort of thing not owned by fenway. tailgating is more prevalent at Gillette stadium in Foxboro for football games and music shows. they have huge open area parking lots. for baseball games (and again, I'm not super knowledge on this front), i think a lot of people will go to a pub outside of fenway to get food or drinks before heading into the park where prices are a lot more for those things. paradise rock club, the sinclair, and great scott are more laid back music venues. but i've only ever been there specifically for shows. i can find out if there are other bars that typically have live music with no name bands and cheap covers, does that sound more like what she might be looking for? i always have a great time at Howl At The Moon which i guess is a piano bar but it's more of a "band" bar since there's a whole band up there that plays covers. the drinks come in buckets too. and there's a downstairs to it that more of a "club" scene. now that i think of it that downstairs bar might have bottle service! back towards the Cambridge area, Common Ground is a good bar spot with a 90s dance night on Fridays. I know raptron hits that up! i've been loving Hub Pub which is off the beaten path but always has good jukebox music playing, cheap drinks, pool tables, and everyone is signing along. fancier bottle service type places? i like the roof deck of legal harborside, drinks, food (some great seafood), and view are on point. i also enjoyed this greek place i went to in the Seaport area, Committee. i only had drinks but the food looked and smelled amazing. the whole Seaport area is probably good for fancying it up. that or North End for a more italian flair. definitely have clam chowder. every place makes it different though so she should probably try a few... or go chowder hopping! omg i need to make that a thing now. my favorite clam chowder is all the way down in Provincetown though. haha i've never seen the keytar bear either! but looks like if she wanders around Faneuil Hall a bit she might get lucky. Faneuil Hall is more of an "area" btw and not a hall. I mean there is a hall with lots of food vendors in it and then attached to the actual hall there are street vendor carts all along each long side. wow this place sounds super weird when you try to put it into words. this website does it better http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/ and i love Stephi's in Southie's bloody mary Quote Instagram | pinterest read harder challenge | Battle Log | NROLFW Challenges: 13-1 | 13-2 | 13-3 | 13-3.5 | 14-1 | 14-2 | 15-1 | 15-2 | 15-3 | 15-4 | 15-5 | 16-1 | 16-2 | 16-3 | 16-4 | 16-5 | 16-6 | 16-7 | 16-8 | 17-1 | 17-2 | 17-3 | 17-4 | 17-5 | 17-6 | 17-7 | 17-8 | 17-9 | 17-10 | 18-1 | 18-2 | 18-3 | 18-4 | 18-5 | 18-6 | 18-7 | 18-8 | 18-9 | 18-10 | 19-1 | 19-2 | 19-3 | 19-4 | 19-5 | 19-6 | 19-7 | current Link to comment
CourtnieMarie
also ArgSki had some good input on elvenengineer's thread! 3 hours ago, ArgSki77 said: I second this comment. If you want to get out of the main downtown part of the city, Cambridge is fun. I hangout in Harvard Square and Davis Square a lot now both of which are easily accessible from the Red Line trains. A lot of good college-y bars as well as quite a few good upscale places and everything in between. My new place of choice is Felipe's Taqueria in Harvard Square. They have a downstairs taco/burrito place kind of like Chipotle but there is a hidden(maybe not so hidden now) roof deck with a margarita and tequila bar. The line gets long though so its kind of hit or miss but worse case there are some other bars that you can see from the front door so you could just bar crawl. I too like Fanueil Hall. There are a bunch of good restaurants and bars around that area. Plus all the historical sights pretty close. Oh and the North End is within walking distance to there too so pasta and cannolis are withing close reach! Boston Common is a 10 min walk the other direction if you wanted to wander around there as well on a nice afternoon or night. OH! and i forgot to mention Five Horses Tavern in Davis square for food. i haven't been let down there yet. sometimes service can be slow though. Any suggestions there? Maybe some laid back, low key pub suggestions and a fancier, bottle service kind of place will keep us entertained. If they're staying in Cambridge, The Burren at Davis Square has live music every night (usually some kind of folk music). And the food is vastly better than Five Horses. CourtnieMarie
Good gracious, have I changed or what? well, sure hope I have. That's growth right? I'll be here for the next challenge cycle just updating when i can and want to. for those previously following my challenges, we did sign up for Anytime Fitness and now need to catch up on sleep in order to get up early enough to go. Evening yoga has become harder with a long commute and visiting my dad. This weekend should be relaxing and probably emotional - I'm going to start cleaning out my dad's house. Next week i'll be traveling for work so let's see how much i can get my shit together before then! 1 Quote Instagram | pinterest read harder challenge | Battle Log | NROLFW Challenges: 13-1 | 13-2 | 13-3 | 13-3.5 | 14-1 | 14-2 | 15-1 | 15-2 | 15-3 | 15-4 | 15-5 | 16-1 | 16-2 | 16-3 | 16-4 | 16-5 | 16-6 | 16-7 | 16-8 | 17-1 | 17-2 | 17-3 | 17-4 | 17-5 | 17-6 | 17-7 | 17-8 | 17-9 | 17-10 | 18-1 | 18-2 | 18-3 | 18-4 | 18-5 | 18-6 | 18-7 | 18-8 | 18-9 | 18-10 | 19-1 | 19-2 | 19-3 | 19-4 | 19-5 | 19-6 | 19-7 | current Link to comment
