What made you smile today?

Recommended Posts

I'm a big believer in the power of positive thought. I do genuinely believe that perception is reality, "With our thoughts we make the world." is more to me than just a nice quote. It sums up what I believe to be true. We can all make our world a little bit brighter, just by spending a little time focusing on something that brings a little joy into our lives.

Positivity, just like smiling, is infectious, so I thought it would be nice to start a thread purely to Spread The Love.

I think Thumper's mother got it wrong. Or at least didn't take it far enough. If you can say something nice, then pipe up and say it!

I found this article by chance whilst reading about foam rolling (of all things)

The Incredible Power of a Compliment

Receiving a sincere compliment can have a huge impact on your outlook. The message may surprise you, touch your heart, or catapult you forward into a new career path. The most powerful compliment communicates the message, "I value you."

So I'd like to ask you guys to share some of your experiences. What has made you smile today? Has someone given you a compliment? If they have, don't be shy about it, wear that compliment with pride, feel good about it. Or do you have a happy thought that you'd like to share?

I guess I should really go first, but all of a sudden I can't think of anything to share....

I'll be back to post shortly, but in the meantime if anyone wants to jump in and get the ball rolling, be my guest. :D

What made me smile today......

I saw my father in law from across the yard and he shouted "Morning Trouble!"

It's amazing how much love and affection can be conveyed with an insult. :D  I'm so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2014/04/a-friendly-reminder-to-be-nice-to-others/ - watching this video made me smile. I don't know what it has to do with "life insurance" as it advertises at the end, but it's a very well made, lovely video that tries to teach us one thing... be nice to people.

This one made me sniffle a little bit..... :encouragement:

Hmmm... what made me smile... that's a tough one, today was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day....

Soooo....

There was the Viking Chef, that resulted in my first lesson in Swedish.

There was finding out I had only 7 questions to answer on my homework as opposed to the normal 30 or so.

There was finally getting home, getting a hug, and getting shown houses on the computer.

I guess that's a start...

Seeing a recipe I brought to the forums start to spread, I can't lay claim to it, but I can say I brought it. :-D

I was going to call it Insanity's Pineapple Chilli, but thought people might be put off thinking it was insanely hot or something....

Maybe I should have gone with Insanity's Insanely Good Pineapple Chilli. Whadya think? ;)

Ok so after a pretty crappy day ( the rant is in my Daily Battle Log ), I did smile today.

I got a call to do a hospital to hospital transfer. A guy with chest pain ( after yesterdays incident I was like "oh no!" ), but we get there and this older dude is sitting up chatting up the nurses and having a coffee! Cool he isn't going to be a hard case!

Anyway found out he is a smoker who has hidden it from his health nut wife, who he has been married to for 6 years, how? Who the hell knows. Anyway we are mid trip and passing through a neighbouring town when he says he needs to pee, ok we can do that, we stop at the public rest rooms with assurances he won't arrest while in the toilet......the paperwork would be a nightmare :) So he is taking his time and I say to the driver "So how long do we give him before I start freaking out?" Driver says "another minute, he's been gone for 3", I say to driver, "bet the bloody buggar is in there having a ciggie!" Sure enough the old rascal was in there having his durrie, and came out all sheepish with his packet of smokes hanging out of his top pocket, I was like "Dude, seriously!"

Anyway he is a bike rider, he has a 2005 Buell Firebolt XB, has been to the TT and used to be in amateur racing with his brothers. It was such a good trip over to the hospital and he thanked us when we left and asked for a kiss from a chick who loves bikes! Sounds weird but it was kinda cute.

The drive home was really nice too, my driver tonight is an ex sprint car driver and rally co driver, had some stories from him about when he was still racing.......he is soooo cool. He loves driving the ambulances and I really like it when we work together we have a lot in common which makes everything a lot easier.

So even though it was an ambulance job tonight, it made me smile. :)

Wait! What............?

Today.. what made me smile?

cooking up a pound of bacon, dumping half in another skillet, adding garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne powder, pouring six scrambled eggs over it, and cook till firm. The topping with ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce... and sitting down to eat breakfast.

She had the other half of the bacon with some french toast. :-)

It was a good morning....

Now on to the build....
