Rides (What do you drive?)

Recommended Posts

I took my car in for its pre-road trip checkup (yes, I would normally do this myself) and started wondering: What do the rest of y'all drive? What's your dream vehicle?

I drive a a 2011 Golf mk VI TDI. Sie spricht Deutsch, und ihr Name ist Moni... pictures when i can dig them up!

We bought a 1999 Saturn 9-10yrs ago for $4k it gets around 30mpg mixed and about 34-35mpg on the highway, has the looks of a family sedan but stilll gives you a smooth ride at 75mph and can handle all the curves of the Adirondacks; really it's nothing to brag about but overall is a fantastic car, especially if you are looking for a 2nd commuter car. I honestly don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon.

I forgot about my dream car, I drool over most of the super cars on Top Gear but my real love is Rally Racing, I used to drive a busted up Subaru through an old logging roads and atv trails around the Taconics

So life dream which ties into car dream is to buy big old patch of land with old logging roads and getting myself an old Subaru WRX or Nissan S30 Fairlady Z

I really am a muddy gear head redneck

2006 Civic Si. Lightly modded. Soon to be turbo

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/11/u8a4e9ed.jpg

I also have a 1947 Studebaker M5 truck and my wife's 66 Mustang coupe, both of which need work.

Goals for Mustang: 5.0 motor from a Coyote and classic styling

Goals for Stude: built F20 from a Honda S2000, turbo, pushing 400ish whp. Hot Rod sitting low.

Yes, the Stude will be a blasphemy. Putting a Honda (japanese) motor into a vehicle which had production stopped so that the US could use the steel to fight....The Japanese.

My dream car is actually a 1992 Ford F-150 - it's the car my Grandpa had, and what I learned to drive in (when I was like 8). Not sure if I'd be able to easily get my hands on one in England, though.

Trade you an F-150 for an Atom... :-)

I'll do you one better and trade you my micra! If a small car's what you're after, look no further than the micra!

LOL... not just small... but fast, agile, and relatively cheap... :-)

What I drive depends on what side of the country I'm living on... For about half of the year I drive a 2003 Vauxhall Meriva, and for the other half it's either a bus or bike, such is the woe of sharing a car...

Heh, it actually works quite well, financially speaking.

2013 Nissan Versa SV is my daily driver.

What would I LIKE to drive? Aston Martin DB9. Or the Rapide S.  Or the Vanquish.

Can you tell I'm a James Bond fan?  Seriously, I'd even wear a tux when I drove this.

If I drove it... I'd wear a tux, and I'm far from a Bond fan, and I hate wearing dress clothes... that car just calls out for a tux while driving. Nothing else would work... I almost picture myself getting in it, in my jeans, shirt and boots... and the car throwing me out.

Cars.  I love cars.  My degree is in Automotive actually.  Sweetness is the name of this thread!

I have 2, currently.

Daily Driver: 2011 Mitsubishi Galant.  Point A to Point B, and it gets decent mileage.

Weekend Warrior: 1968 Chevy Camaro.  Got it at the end of my junior year of high school, and been rockin the old school V8 power ever since!

As for dream cars?  Y'all don't have that much time.  I listed em out once.  There was about 45 of them.

Just a few:

1967 Corvette L88 convertible (only 3 exist)

1963 Corvette Split-window coupe

2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

1998 McLaren F1

Daily is a 2010 Subaru Impreza.  Base model.  No bells and whistles at all, but at least it's a 5-speed.

Also, have a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT which I have dream of some day putting solid axles under with 35 boggers.  Yeah... I'm a touch redneck.  :P

As for dream cars, it changes so frequently.  Right now, I'd love a 1971 Nissan Bluebird SSS.

Or maybe a '71 Skyline GTX.

Something about the old school Japanese cars has me just fascinated right now.  Plus once they are 25 years old, it's legal to get them imported!

How right you are.  I'm not a fan of most Japanese cars, but the Skyline is one that I really do love.

I would buy a Tesla in a heartbeat if I had the cash.

As it stands, my silver 2010 Toyota Prius III with the deathly hallows sticker on the back serves me just fine. (Her name is Larissa. Don't act like you don't have a name for your car.)

I don't... but now that you mention it....not even sure what would fit...

I, until very recently, drove the most unbelievably sexy car. Twas a dark purple 1996 dodge minivan with a giant crunch mark in the side passenger door. Hot damn were the ladies flocking to me. (Obvious sarcasm is obvious)

Dream car, oddly enough, would probably be a DeLorean. Just because its awesome and stands out, but its still a small car and I enjoy driving those a great deal more. Also its not a purple minivan, so that's a plus too.
