What I most enjoy from this forum

Recommended Posts

Basically I wanted to share what I enjoy the most from this forum, when making a comparison with others that I've participated in.

  1. The People: people here are a weird, strange and rare race in the internet. You guys actually support each other. May I tell you it does feel strange to see people helping people. I'm more used to "I'm better than you" kind of responses (which sometimes get deleted). But seeing this is a positive and refreshing thing.
  2. The openess: usually you see forums that kind of belong to a company, so they moderate topis and threads. Mostly, people get bashed by speaking differently from the norm (ex: dragon door, bodybuilding, etc.). This is good. We can see Pro and Anti Crossfit living in harmony. It's strange, but it's good.
  3. There's no bashing, no dick measuring of any kind and a lot of solidarity.

Basically this is a way of me saying I'm glad to be here. It's a good community and I'm proud to be a part of it!

I think that's my favorite thing about this community, and it's definitely the one I emphasize whenever I talk to friends about it.  There's a lot of solidarity here.  No trolls or bitching, just people helping people helping people.  It's nice, definitely!  One of the few places on the internet I'm ok with calling home.

The best thing about this forum is by far the support, and that comes in different shapes, whether it's like you said helping each over or just the whole you have a different opinion to me but that's fine to me, and I think it follows though to other areas as well and not just fitness, I have found people to be supportive of people in areas other than just their fitness or health

This thread actually came up in a conversation with another forum member last night.

I've come in here intending to post something about 3/4 times already, but every time I leave again without writing anything. It's not that there's nothing to say, it's the opposite. There's so much to say, that I just can't actually put it down in words.

My friend said the same thing... "I've actually been in tears with gratitude for this place and the people I've met through it..."

Yeah, how do you sum that up in a couple of lines??? I know loads of people feel this way, it gets expressed in countless small ways everyday on the boards... "I love you guys!" is a fairly common statement, and not one that's used flippantly either.

Earlier today Fleaball posted that her line manager told her that the people on here didn't count as "friends" because she doesn't hang out or meet up and go for a drink with us. Bullshit!!! I count the people on here as the best kind of friends. The kind that are there for you no matter what, ready to pick up up when you're feeling down, make you laugh, encourage you, and never judge you.

Tell me how many of her "real friends" actually give her that level of support? Not very many I bet.

I am so fricking grateful that I found this place and all of you. Love you all! :love_heart:

The people of the Rebellion have become my virtual family.  I have found that I am on here more than FB because I like it here more.  The people share a lot of the same interests and even those who don't have wonderful stories about their interests.  A place on the internet where people who share a few common interests and differ wildly in a lot of others can be supportive and helpful is rare indeed.  I am grateful for these threads beyond what simple words can explain.  Having met a few of the members IRL, I know that it's not just people putting up a personality on a web site.
