Hey all. I recently decided to take the advice found on the site and put it into practice. I have a desire to be a pilot in the Canadian military, and part of the requirement here is to be in 'above-average' shape. I quickly realized something needed to be done about my 295lb. frame, and I lunged into action. I set my goal-weight to 235lbs (I've always had a large, broad frame of a body and this would be a nice ideal weight where I could stop and tone out; I've been 225 before and looked like a twig), and I'm happy to report that after just 7 weeks of "loosely" following the Paleo diet (still having breads 2-3x a week for my own sanity), and getting involved in an Aerobic exercise program I enjoy, I'm down 30lbs so far to 265 and looking forward to when I will get the scale down to my 235 goal-weight :)

I probably won't get there in another 7 weeks (like most weight-loss I lost a big number very quickly when I started (20lbs in the first 3 weeks), and slow and steady since). I was originally planning to be down to 235 by Summer 2015, but now I'm confident I'll reach that goal well in time before then, and hopefully even be at my ideal fitness level by that time (nicely toned) instead of just being at/near that weight with no real visible body muscle.

My biggest helping point so far was reading a mention (pretty sure it was Steve) of how it's not always best to feel like you're about to die after a workout because of the negative mental-association it attaches to working out; better to pace yourself and not always having to push your limits every time you workout. Big weight loss is a marathon that you can't win all in one day, so doing consistently, comfortably-paced workouts is just as, if not more, effective than the traditional ideology.

Looking forward to completing my goals and reading more encouraging stories and helpful tips on the board along the way :)
