​I'm trying to follow a primal diet (paleo + dairy) because meat is yummy and I suffer for IBS and i find wheat to be a trigger. It was easy for me to ditch the other grains too. I miss crisps and chips (read fries my American friends) the most. 

  • Lose Weight

I want to get to 147lb which is a healthy weight for my height. But i know that not everyone weighs equal so a UK dress size 10 is my size goal weight be dammed when I get there. 

  • Learn to Swim

​I'm a nervous swimmer, I freak out when i cant feel the floor with my feet. I can do about four lengths in a pool before i'm tired out. I'd like to get that to a respectable number by September. I have be going in the sea but I find it hard to swin in a wet suit I'm all floaty like a rubber ducky.

  • Be fitter

​I have asthma, but I'm sure that its because of my weight. I'd like to be able to do more tings without wheezing and getting out of breath.

  • Get running

​Because its free! I'd like to do one of those couch to XXk Challenges I've been going on the treadmill every now and again at the gym but its so boring. I'm living in a coastal town and a lot of people run n the beach, I'd like to join them! 

  • Try Yoga

​They offer classes at the gym and i still have three weeks left on my membership so I really want to try this before I lose the opportunity. 

  • Kickboxing?

Because I loved doing it a few years ago. I'd like to get my level of fitness up a notch or too before I try this again though as I recall it being really really hard work. 

 

The Plan:

Follow a primal diet, walk everyday, drink more than 2 litres of water a day and follow the beginner body workout at least three times a week. I'm also going swimming in the sea but that is a weather dependent activity. I'm not sure if I should be planning to do more, I'm very good at biting off more than I can chew and then failing so I'm trying to be cautious this time.

Hi Kitsu! I love all your goals. Just be careful you don't get overwhelmed ;)

 

For swimming, what's a respectable number?

 

DO YOGA. Do it. Do it now. Yoga is literally THE BEST THING. I have been doing it for three weeks, 3x a week, and I am absolutely smitten. It's a good strength workout, improves flexibility, opens your mind and can be incredibly soothing or invigorating depending on the kind you do. When we sit quietly at the beginning and end of each class, emotions I didn't realize I'd been feeling that day well up inside me. It's a great time to acknowledge them and then let them go, and after the class I always feel much lighter. I highly recommend yoga to everyone. It's so healing and wonderful.

I dunno maybe 20 lengths? its doesnt sound like much more than four, but that fourth length is murderous.

Gearing myself up to do my body workout in a few minutes. 

 

Breakfast : A pear, coffee (milk no sugar) and two bratwurst sausages (they are grain free woot) I wanted eggs but we were out so it was the least evil thing i could find. I've not had any water yet, but I will before my workout. Thinking of going in the sea again today too, if its not too cold. Then ring the gym regarding yoga. 

 

 

Pondering what is the best way to warm up, last time i just did jogging on the spot but i think i need something a little more intense becuase i still ache from the day before yesterday. :/

Pondering what is the best way to warm up, last time i just did jogging on the spot but i think i need something a little more intense becuase i still ache from the day before yesterday. :/

There's an article that was written about dynamic warm ups that may be of interest.  The good thing is that you don't have to do the full warm up listed, and you can do as much as you can.  The main thing is to get your full body moved and warmed up.

There's also an article on stretching for after a workout too to help your muscles relax after the workout.

10 side leg swings

10 hip rotations

10 hip extend

 

Work out

20 body squats

10 push up 

20 walking lunges

10 dumbell rows(each arm)

15 second plank (i hate this one)

30 jumping jacks

 

Completed three sets.

 

Went "swimming" in the sea for an hour. 

 

I think i pulled a muscle in my back though, i tried stretching it out but nothing helps. I hope its not too bad tomorrow.

No lunch was had. oops!

 

Dinner:

Tin of tuna fish and cucumber, wrapped in lettuce leaves and a spoonful of grated  cheddar cheese

 

Desert: a hand ful of grapes dipped in 2 squares of melted dark chocolate mixed with cream. Yummy!

 

 

SATURDAY

 

Today is a rest day so no exercise planned apart from my walk.

is mayo primal? I thought it would be ass its just eggs and vinegar really and its normal mayo not light fat free gubbins.

Today is Sunday and so Sunday Lunch!

and mashed turnips

 

I had banana and raspberry pancakes as a sweet and then later i had two squares of dark chocolate melted with cream and dipped a handful of grapes into it yummers!

Dinner was left over parsnips and I'm afraid to say some bratwurst as they needed eating from the freezer being defrosted. 

 

I had a pear for dessert. 

 

Went for a good 30 minute walk today and decided to to the body weight tomorrow as i really wanted to do the workout on the challenge start date. 

 

I'm noticing that I'm not really feeling hungry these past two days, I just ea because the food is put in front of me, but there is not burning desire to eat all the food. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The boyfriend says that i seem a lot happier and have more energy since I started doing Primal, so it must be agreeing with me.

 

I had three coffees today but i had a lot more water too.

Today i made cheesecake, not for me for the normal eaters.

 

 That makes me sound abnormal, hmm I don't like that, I made it for the sugar dependents! I will admit i had a spoonful of whipped cream and dark chocolate. Tuna and lettuce for lunch. I went for a walk today nothing too major.

 

The thing I'm finding most hard to start is my Japanese study. I've not touched a book since the end of term and I've never really been good at self study. *flails around uselessly* Stupid Kanji I want to make you my bitch but I don't know how.

Dinner was chicken, mashed turnip and carrots

 

I had raspberries and cream for pudding.

 

I managed to do about 20 minutes of kanji study today, going to take the book as part of my bed time reading for the next six weeks. Repetition is the key or so they tell me.

Today is not a good day. I've had a huge headache all day and I've been craving sugar all day 

It's my time of the month.

I keep going between beating myself up over what I've had and consoling myself that its not really that bad compared to my old self.

 

 

Food:

 

Breakfast Banana Pancakes and a coffee 

 

A pear 

 

Lunch:

Tuna Mayo mixed with feta cheese chunks.

 

Snacks:

A large handful of grapes dipped in four squares of melted dark chocolate and cream.

A dessertspoon full of buttercream Icing (homemade)

A dessert spoon full of Cheesecake cheese stuff (homemade)

 

Water:

Three pints 

 

 

No dinner yet no walk yet no Japanese yet.

 

Feeling like a failure on only day two. I'm really tired and my head is pounding despite paracetamol. I went for a little stroll to try and clear my head but it really didnt help too much :/

 

I cant wait for today to be over so that I can try again tomorrow.

You are NOT a failure. You are a human being who is trying to change her life for the better. That alone is a great success!! We all have good and bad days- it isn't possible to have 100% good days. Especially when Mother Nature brings her monthly present. It's hard! And it's day 2. The reason these challenges are 6 weeks long is that's how long it supposedly takes to make a new habit. PLEASE don't beat yourself up. I know I'm one to talk since that's my challenge too, but it only makes you feel bad.

 

So you had a rough day. I'm glad you're willing to try again tomorrow. That makes you a fighter and a winner. A lot of people (myself included) would throw in the towel, saying "Well I already screwed up, I'm worthless, I can't do it." You're not doing that, and that's freaking awesome. it was pretty good.

Workout complete. Is it just me or is exercise like 100 times harder when its that lady time? 

 

Going into town with the BF now so hopefully a nice long walk will ensue

stupid weather ruined my swim plans 

 

Dinner was tuna spinach sweet potatoes and broccoli 

 

pudding was CAKE! I made a mini cake with  ground almond honey eggs and butter it wa really yummy and hit that sugar cravings spot on

lunch was bratwurst 

 

dinner was baseless pizza made by my boyfriends dad.

 

pudding was a brownie but i didn't have that much honey so mine were pretty dry (and probably that little bit healthier)

 

Went for a good long hour walk today and did a little Japanese study.

 

I want to get a god long session in tomorrow I feel like I've been phoning it in with the Japanese by just doing some kanji reading when i could be doing something more productive. I should of written my side quest goals out more clearly! 

 

only two coffees today!
