Hi all,

My name is Mondard and I'm 38 year old. I've been running for 2 years now with result beyond what I thought possible. I am now looking to expand my fitness to my full body so I can face any situation with confidence.

I run 6 times a week, totaling between 40 and 70 miles. I've ran race from 5K to marathon; I've ran in the heat (+40C), in the cold(-40C), in the rain, snow storms, on flat terrain, hills and a bit of trail. I'm still trying to find how fast and how far I can go, so this is still and ongoing objective.

Recently, I saw some parkour and freerunning videos and thought that was something I'd be interested in doing. Like I said, I want to be able to face any situation, any obstacle with efficiency. I don't really care about bulk or how I look, but I do care about strength and power.

I'm also interested in self-defense. Not in a competitive way, but, again, as a confidence that I can face whatever comes.

Finally, I tend to do things alone, with very little interaction with other people, so just signing up here and posting is a big step for me. I am aware of my weakness when it comes to social interaction and willing to take step to improve here as well.

Thank you for making this community possible. I hope to make it part an essential part of my journey.

Nope, doesn't bother me one bit. But I'm saddened by the lack of a 15K time ;)

I will be working on that. I haven't seen many of those around here.

Sounds fantastic.  I hope to do the mileage you do some day.  I think parkour and free running look like it would be fun and challenging.  What you said about not caring how you look but caring about strength and power is something I completely relate too.

So going to try parkour or free running soon?  Would love to hear about your adventures when you do.

Suelk, the time when I wish I could run more than 15 miles a week wasn't so long ago. Keep working, keep learning, and you will see improvement.

I am planning on starting to learn parkour as part of my fitness plan for the next year. It's a bit scary to thing about, since I've never done gymnastic or anything like that, but that's what I like about it.

Good luck on that half-marathon.

Thanks!  Someday I had thought it would be fun to learn a few basics in parkour too.  Any advice for a new runner (less than 1 year into it) is greatly appreciated.  Next year I am trying zip lining at a couple parks and thought about learning slack lining.  The only downside to slack lines in our area you can not try it out.  Buy the equipment and how to books or videos and go for it or nothing.  Still checking around.  I do not want to buy the stuff if it turns out not to be as fun as it looks.  At least with parkour no extra equipment needed.
