Closing the Doors of Hell

Helloo everyone

 

Back in May I was putting my favourite shirt on, and it felt tight .... ah well these things happen, shirts shrink over time don't they, so I popped in to Gap on the way home, and picked up a regular fit shirt size "L" and went home .. probably had Coke, chips and cheese for my Dinner

 

The next morning I put the new shirt on .. WHAT .... this didn't fit either

 

It was at this point I tried the scales .... I had become a 198lb,  5'11",  Skinny fat male, age 40 with a belly, man boobs and 2 chins.

 

Screw it !!!! .... I am not buying XL clothes (I hate shopping) and I don't care if anyone thinks its a midlife crisis I am getting fit again.

 

in my 20s-30s I used to be a DH mountain biker, climber, mountaineer, I was lean, I was nimble, I could do pull-ups  ... then I got lazy, swapped the DH bike for a motorbike and discovered my Wife was a great partner to drink with, the Doors of Hell had opened just a little

 

I led a rather sedentary lifestyle .... Until 3 years ago when my daughter was born, and since then I have stopped ALL exercise and spend all of free time sat on the floor reading and playing with her !

 

In May that ended, I started a "diet" ..... and I call it that because it was a short term goal to drop a few pounds.

 

Today ....... today I weigh 178lbs ..... my shirts fit, but I need more, I want to be fit, I want to be strong I want to run and jump and pick heavy things up ... I want to be able to do 10 pull-ups, I want to slam those doors of hell back up and seal in all the freaking demons that turned me in to what I am today 

 

Through the many hours of reading forums on the internet of how to go about making this my lifestyle and keeping motivation, is when I found Nerd fitness .... I was hooked by the second page, finally a forum of like minded individuals who can hold a conversation without putting people down and calling each other "brah" 

 

Needless to say, I joined up with in a day of finding you all (big thanks the Admin that is bigm141414 for sorting my registration issues out)

 

Now all I need to do is sort my L1 Rebel first challenge goals out

 

1st thing I need to is loose another 7-14lbs, without loosing any more muscle, I need to up my Cardio and strength training, and start tracking calories.

 

once I am down to 160lbs, the fun starts ...... I can do what I have always wanted to do and thats eat above maintenance  on purpose, but the right foods AND whilst lifting heavier and heavier and exercising harder and harder 

 

I am starting off as an Adventurer, but my dreams are that of a Ranger !
