Surprise squats

Well the squats weren't a surprise, but the result was.

It was my first time doing power lifting and squats today. The surprise came when me and a friend decided to see what my 1RM was. I'd already done 8 reps at 50/55/60/65Kg. I pushed myself and did 3 reps at 70/75Kg. Then gave it one last go for a 100% bodyweight squat at 80Kg... and managed 2 reps. All were full squats.

So I still don't know what my 1RM is, I was getting too fatigued by this point. But my starting numbers were much better than I expected. I've caught the bug! Expect more!

Thanks for the concern. I'm almost certain my form is correct. I have someone that I'm working with who's qualified.

I think I have cycling to thank for such a strong start, but a few days later I came back down to earth doing upper body work. There wasn't even a faint woot! I'm quite weak and it's going to take some work to balance out upper/lower.
