I'm with this nerd.

Provideth the pics, and no one will get hurt. *points to eyes, points to shortgorilla*

As already said, you must make sure you get that kitten checked out by a vet, pronto! Weeping eyes, feline leukemia, distemper -- these are things that are deadly and MUST be attended to immediately. I'd hate for you guys to fall in love with this beauty only to lose her in a few months because of feline leukemia (which is absolutely devastating, trust me.)

Also, having a shoulder kitten is wonderful! Sounds like you're her favorite person! Nothing quite like having a warm kitty scarf in the winter. ^_^ The first thing you'll probably want to get is a cat scratch post. It'll make her more amenable to the wife if she isn't scratching up table legs. Only remove the claws if it's ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. The procedure is nothing more than simple mutilation and one day she may need those claws to defend herself or get to safety.

I also reserve the right to suggest kitty names when pics are provided.

Yea, she's part of the family now if the dog accepts her. Such a cutie!

So I've been waiting for someone else to quote this, but I just can't pass it up:

"dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"

Have you picked a name? My two black cats are named Salem Saberhagen and Selina Kyle. If I had another male I would have named him Bruce Wayne.

I had a black cat for 14 years.  We got her when I was two, so of course I was a crazy toddler and did insane things to her, but because of that, I could handle her in crazy (and loving) ways for the rest of her life and she would just relax and wait for it to be over.  She was really my dad's cat, though.  My dad let her inside in the morning (he was the first up, so he let her in and fed her) and when he said "Good morning," I swear to God she replied with a meowed "Morning."  I woke up early once and hid behind the washing machine and heard it!!

Mom named her Tootsie after the Dustin Hoffman movie.

I've taken to having conversations with Flookie several times a day.  We 'meow' 'mew' and 'mow' back and forth at each other.  Also she pooped on my bed.

he was a rescue kitteh from the hurricanes (I live in southern Louisiana) five years ago.  he's 20lbs.

resuce cats the are the best.  because they show actual appreciation of being saved and given a Forever Home.

I grew up on five acres wherein we typically had 15+ cats at any given time.  in my 28 years on this planet, there were only three wherein I didn't live with at least one cat (while I was in college dorms).

if you need any meow-meow advice, feel free to PM me.  :)

There is never a sudden revelation, a complete and tidy explanation for why it happened, or why it ends, or why or who you are. You want one and I want one, but there isn't one. It comes in bits and pieces, and you stitch them together wherever they fit, and when you are done you hold yourself up, and still there are holes and you are a rag doll, invented, imperfect. And yet you are all that you have, so you must be enough. There is no other way.

This whole thread is making me miss my kitty..she passed away a few years ago, and I unfortunately can't have a new kitty where I live now.. :(

I get you on the having horrid allergies but still getting attached, my allergy developed maybe 10 years back, up until then I had owned probably 30 cats over the years and never had an issue.  For me now, if I pet them or play with them, I'm fine.  As soon as I touch my face or neck I get itchy and congested..it's a very specific allergy for me since I don't react to their dander anywhere else on my body.

Maybe when I'm up next at my parents house I'll get a picture of my brother's cat that they are taking care of.  He too has a sad story, his mother and all of his siblings except for one other were mauled by a dog when he was only a few days old.  We took him in and the woman who found them took the other.  He's got an absolutely unusual personality now because he was raised completely by humans..and his reactions to other cats are hilarious.  While most cats won't let you touch their bellies, this cat rolls over on his back and begs you to rub his belly.  He also prefers to rough-house rather than play nice..and if he hisses at you, it means he likes you and wants to play..this one is particularly hilarious when other people are around.

Slipped on a cat toy and fell down the stairs today.

I'm fine, just a bruise on my back.  Flookie eats like a wolf.  She also has a great routine of losing her marbles at 3am and running around the house.  She doesn't make a racket but it's still pretty funny.

Welp, you're definitely a part of her family now. ^_^ And she's a chatterbox! Boy, you've got a great little kitten there!

Remember, nothing is truly a part of your home until your cat has baptized it by pressing her naked butthole on it.

My cat does this. He'll do it to power cords for the Christmas tree. "What's this? A cord! A very unusual cord I have not seen before! I MUST SIT ON IT."

Spazzing out at 3AM as well? I think this happens because cats sleep all day and when they wake up at night, they get a sugar high. Just keep the noisy toys somewhere she can't reach at night, because it will drive you insane. Trust me.
