New to the Rebellion- FlatSpellSurfer

Hello!

 

I have been lurking around the boards for a while now and have finally decided to take the plunge and begin posting. Several years ago I was part of an online forum focused on triathlon training. Thanks to the accountability of said forum, I was more consistent with my training than I had been since high school (swimming, wrestling, water polo). Since then my goals have changed to focus more on training for surf, which set me to looking for a new forum, eventually leading me to Nerd Fitness. My main fitness goal is to develop a very high level of body mastery, including strength, agility, flexibility, balance and coordination, as well as stamina/endurance. Not asking for much, huh?!?!? 

 

I plan to join the next 6 week challenge, but in the interim I have a few short-term goals.

 

Overarching goal over the next several weeks- build a solid foundation of health/fitness to use as a launching point for my larger goals. To do this I will-  

 

- 30 Minutes of rehab and prehab EVERYDAY. (15 minutes of joint mobility and 15 minutes of flowing Yoga at a minimum)

- Swim or surf AT LEAST 3x per week. 

- No drinks on work or surf nights

- Begin making progress towards my ideal weight- I prefer not to aim for a particular weight, maybe BF%?? I'm probably about 10-15 pounds from this level at the moment. 

 

I'm definitely not starting from zero, as I have always been quite active with training and surfing, but I feel that now (mid-30s) is the time to see what my body is truly capable of. 

 

I look forward to (virtually) meeting many of you, and hope that we can support one another on our individual paths towards greater health, fitness and ultimately, living.
