Welp, here goes nothing!

After lurking for a little while, I think it's about time to post--so here goes nothing!

 

Hiya, everyone! My name is Amanda (or Zomboid, whichever.) I'm 25 years old and living in Rhode Island. I'm super big into video games--mostly MMO's or fighting games.

 

I was introduced to this site by a friend (We'll call him B for boy.) and then told to persuaded into joining up. This was probably about a month or so ago. Figured it was about time to make an appearance. I've tried to diet to lose some weight, but I really had no motivation or direction on how to do it in a way that works for me. My boyfriend would ask every so often about starting a diet, but wouldn't want to exercise with me. Even then, shortly after we started the diet he would start to eat junk food again. Having that around certainly doesn't help me wanting to better myself.

 

The last time I weighed myself was quite some time ago and it wasn't a number I was happy with. So, now I'm here. Hopefully to get some tips or suggestions to help with some of my daily problems on either being or eating healthier or just my stupid daily problems.

 

When I was shown this site, B was explaining the differences between the "classes" and what each of them did. Currently, I'm just an adventurer. Trying to get into shape and just make the effort to make myself comfortable in my own skin.

 

I think in the end I'd like to become a warrior or a monk. I want to be strong and pack a punch. (Hah, puns.) Having some traumatic stuff happen to me not too long ago and not being able to defend myself really messed me up. Luckily, the one who got me to join has been helping me out.

 

For the last few weeks, I've been going over B's house and working out with him and his girlfriend (She'll be G for girl.) lifting weights. Trying to kick junk food and other things that aren't good for me by substituting them with a healthier version of it. (My weakness is soda and salty foods..) Both B and G have been super helpful with suggestions such as switching out chips for a type of chip called Sweets & Beets by Terra. G bought me a bag yesterday and it is quite good. It's not really craving my salty needs, but I guess since I'm trying to get off of the stuff it's really not too much of a bad thing.

 

Well, that's pretty much what I got for now. Hopefully, I can start some posts or a challenge and get myself going and actually end up with something.

I love Blazblue and Super Smash Brothers. I guess the second isn't really considered a fighting game, but I still enjoy it. I'm pretty bad at Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter but I still like to play. When we had an xbox one, I had so much fun with Killer Instinct. Gonna play that a lot if we get another one.

 

Thanks for the link! Gonna try to focus better to see the end result as more motivation.

Glad you got persuaded to join in.  Being on the forums has really helped me stick with things and continue to take care of myself after some tough times.  Working out is great and makes you feel good and you don't have to do anything fancy.  Right now, I'm on a walk to Mordor.  That way I at least walk, even if I don't get my other workouts done.  Shoot me a message if there's anything I can do to help.

Welcome! 

 

Don't let the bf's poor diet impact yours- I live with mine and his diet is terrrrrrrribad, despite my poking and prodding and completely revamping my diet, it looks like we live in two different houses when we shop for food because he wont change his. That's his decision and I've made mine, it gets easier and easier as you eat better because the cravings for the chips and bad food turn into cravings for peanut butter and zucchini chips (awesome for salty cravings btw).

 

If you need any tips or just want someone to vent to about how hard lifestyle changes are (they are I know! But they're SOOO worth it :D ) shoot me a message :)

Welcome!! *waves enthusiastically!*  I just found out that this "rebel introductions" thing was a thing.  I should probably venture out from the 6 week challenge section...but it's so cozy and delightful over there! lol  

 

Speaking of 6 week challenges, you should totally get in on this next one!  Even if you only pick one thing you want to focus on - like not missing a workout with B & G or trying a new recipe every week or whatever you want it to be.  It's awesome to find other people who are trying to do the same things as you.  :)

Making the decisions to change is the hardest part. Now it's a matter of trial and error to figure out what works for your body and lifestyle. 

 

I'm sure the mysterious B will share lots of food advice when your boyfriend is being grouchy. I'm more than happy share recipe ideas too, if you tell me what kind of food you like. :) 

 

Super Smash Bros is the best! Do you have a character of choice? I like to kick butt with pikachu.

HEYLA! 

 

I had a REALLY hard time getting my family on board when I started working on my nutrition.  BUT I stuck to it and slowly they jumped on board with me as they started seeing the difference it was making.  

 

Self defense in martial arts is a fantastic way to stay in shape!  I hope you are able to pursue that.

 

Sounds like you have some great support and now your HERE!!  So much fantastic information here and they make it FUN!
