2,2,2 Woots in One!

Recommended Posts

Two momentous things happened lately.

The first: I took in another notch on my belt.  It's been about two years since I've been able to do this, in spite of all my best efforts.  Tim Ferris' Slow Carb diet seems to be working ; I've lost 3 inches around my navel, and about 12-15 pounds in the last three weeks.  People are starting to notice.

The second:  I recently applied for a job in another department where I work, as a financial specialist.  I've been hitting the books pretty hard making sure I could meet the basic requirements.  Last Thursday, I received a notice that I had passed the initial rating phase of the process, and my name has been passed on to the selecting official. I've been in my current position for the last ten years, and I've been craving change.  Looks like it just might happen!

Had the interview yesterday, and I think I may have blown it.  I didn't quite have all my stories prepared, and got thrown by one question about experience with Access. (I neglected to tell them that although I don't use Access directly, a lot of the databases I use are set up in Access, and I do a lot of database queries.) My suit was too big, my shirt was rumpled, and I was a little nervous.  We'll see what happens.  If I don't get it, there will be other opportunities.
