Hello there,

I just got home from a job interview that was devastating. About myself, I'm a 30year old woman from Austria, recently finished my master studies (informatics) and try to get my life in order. Again, I was told at the interview today that I lack the experience and therefore am not qualified for the job, but somehow you've got to have a chance to learn? :( There are many areas in my life I want to improve, my weight being one of the areas that I have tried to tackle all my life, but without success. I want to use this time while I don't have a job to work on myself as best as I can. I feel that I'm a bit helpless about my job situation, but that my weight is something I can do about, which motivates me and that's why I landed here :)

For improving, I want to do weight training, the gymless version that can be done at home.

I'm currently checking out how to make a character in the forum to join the roleplaying fun (I've recently started playing D&D in real life too ^^) and try to put an order to the things I want to achieve (there is so much I want to do at the same time, loose weight, learn playing guitar, improve my programming skills, 1001 diy projects on my mind). I'm not sure, is it still possible to join the 6week challenge even today?

So, let's quit the self-pity and get started! :)

Hi Lateralice!

WELCOME to the Rebellion! ^_^

Sorry that your job interview didn't go well, but it probably simply shouldn't be that job, there's a better one waiting for you! :)

I'm also from Austria ;) A friend and I start on Monday with 80% Paleo (am going to make salads and some recipes from this source, maybe you wanna join us?) and I surely will go to the gym again. Messed up the last two weeks of this challenge, why I am going to add those two weeks, although that's not how this works but whatever, I need to get my life back in order xD. I guess it's no problem if you join the current challenge, you can stay with the Level 1 Rebels how long you wish to stay with 'em anyways :)

Because you want to do so many things at once --> can relate to that and must say that is going to be difficult. Sometimes I think it's better to change completely at once and have a new lifestyle, everything fits together and life is awesome but with all that setbacks all the time I should finally accept that this way isn't working for me. Just as a hint that it probably will be easier and more results-producing when you concentrate on just one or two things and the other stuff is sideways. So you got your main project and the other that you will work on when you got used to new habits according your main task. Need to get that in my head myself :D

Looking forward to hear more from you and your goals! :)

Hello. And welcome to NF family. People here are great so don't be intimidated to ask for help.

NF rebellion is the best idea joining (for me atleast...hope so with you). I love how talking to any one of these amazing people just puts smile on my face (even after horrible day) and makes me want to do my best.

So enjoy your stay. And hope to see you more on the forums. :D

New faces are always welcome. Making a change is daunting, there's just so much to do. New hobbies to try and habits to develop... The best thing to set short and readily achievable micro goals. A steady rate of success gives you lots of positive reinforcement.

Science fiction is an existential metaphor, that allows us to tell stories about the human condition. Isaac Asimov once said: "Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."

I don't thiiink its too late for you to join the challenge - I was late starting it. The thing with jobs is to just persevere, and talk to people. Eventually your chance will arise. Its about persistence and patience and not letting yourself get knocked down. Welcome to NF and good luck.
