I am currently petless, which makes my life feel a little empty. I grew up with a temperamental peek-a-poo named Molly. We lost her at age 14 due to cancer, and she was poorly socialized, but I loved the noisy ball of fluff. She also loved everyone in the family, so there was that.

In 2010 my sister and brother-in-law came across silken windhounds. It's a fairly new breed that comes from whippets and borzoi. They are beautiful dogs, and there are three of them in the family now. When my partner and I are more financially stable, we'll be adding a fourth. They are super lazy (much like most sighthounds), but love running around in short bursts. The male dog my parents own actually races and has earned a few ribbons. I'm hopeful that we will have a puppy with a good temperament for pet therapy, but that will depend on a lot of luck and the availability when we're ready. Regardless, I spend a lot of time with these three.

So this is Strider. He's big for the breed, and is easily the most laid back dog I have ever met. Also still not king, much to his dismay.

My partner and I actually started dating because of our dogs. My basset hound Rufus was 10-weeks-old when I took him to the park down the street, and her pit bull/Rhodesian ridgeback dog Little was 8-years-old and desperately loved puppies. The two of them gravitated towards each other and we wound up talking for a while. Turned out we lived in the same building, so Rufus and I kept running into her and Little on our walks and the dogs would go NUTS when they saw each other. Three years later, we're a happy family with two inseparable fur babies.

This is my female calico, Elise. I found her through a free-to-good-home ad. She is a normal cat and weighs 11Lbs. And this:

399183_10153080463715137_179791977_n.jpg

Is my husband's male (rescue) Ragdoll, Simon. He is as weird as he is adorable, plus he weighs 18Lbs.

Elise despises him; Simon adores her. Elise is a cat-cat: she wants to be petted, or to cuddle, when she feels like it and has no problem snubbing you the other 90% of the time. ^_~  Simon is a puppy-cat: he wants to be where you are, either staring at you or physically interfering with you, at all times - unless he's stalking Elise. Then he apparently likes getting his face slapped a 1000x per second (she never uses her claws on him, though - she seems to understand he's a retard). Elise will watch the red dot (laser pointer) and will lift her paw up or walk away entirely if it "gets on her". Simon has a psychic link to the damn thing and will literally wake out of a dead sleep in a room at the other side of the house and come sprinting if you so much as push it half an inch across the counter.

Together, these two keep us entertained 24/7 and (importantly for us as avid gamers) grounded in the real world, too. <3

I've two cats, Jasper and Noodle. I adopted Jasper a couple years back when I got my first apartment on my own.  I needed a little company, but didn't want a roommate.  He had never been outside in his life, and panicked the first time he touched grass. Eventually he grew to like going outdoors when I moved to a rural environment and could let him out without fear of dogs getting him.  He actually started stalking deer, as if he could catch one, lol.  Mice however were another story.  The only time he ever managed to catch a mouse was the time he literally rolled over on top of one and took a nap. Here he is this past Halloween dressed up as a pirate.

I adopted Noodle in the Spring as I had moved once again, and Jasper seemed bored being alone all day.  Poor Jasper, I bet he wishes he could go back to being bored.  Noodle is a little hellion, who causes chaos where ever he goes. He steals food from people and is obsessed with lemonade. He is known for bouncing off the walls at all times of day, and has even played on the ceiling fan at one point.  The only time he ever calms down is when Jasper sits on him and squashes the breath out of him. His current hobby is attempting to destroy the Christmas tree. Here he is as a witch for Halloween.

There is never a sudden revelation, a complete and tidy explanation for why it happened, or why it ends, or why or who you are. You want one and I want one, but there isn't one. It comes in bits and pieces, and you stitch them together wherever they fit, and when you are done you hold yourself up, and still there are holes and you are a rag doll, invented, imperfect. And yet you are all that you have, so you must be enough. There is no other way.

Animal pictures! Yes, this is a very good idea.

I cannot figure out how to upload photos, so links it shall have to be.

I currently have a cat and a dog.  They tolerate each other, but have not become what you would  call friends.

Our cat is called Ivan. I brought him home from a farm, and he's had a very sheltered life.  He's spoilt, silly, prone to attacking ankles, and ridiculously cute.

A year ago I adopted Mae.  She's a kelpie cross and has large amounts of energy.  She has become my running companion, and is much fitter than me.

And then there is my beloved Dexter.  He's a shingleback lizard, who entered the household earlier this year.  He was very placid, and really quite cuddly for a lizard! He would fall asleep on my lap.  He was also very adventurous, and loved trundling round the house exploring.  He also got on well with Ivan.  Unfortunately, he escaped out the door about a month ago, and is, hopefully, having adventures out in the big wide world.  Maybe I'll find him in the garden one day, but who knows.  I miss him desperately  :hurt:

Chester

These are my two bed hogs. Chester is a whippet and Saedie is a Chaweenie. They are completely backwards dogs. Chester, the one built to run, would rather stay at home and sleep. Saedie who has 4" long legs loves to come running with me and she thinks yoga is the perfect time to give me kisses.

Ok...there would be a picture of my dog, but for some reason I can't get it to work properly.  How did y'all do yours???

I'd like to know as well. I click images, but it freezes up. Can't load a URL or anything.

There's a couple ways to do it.

Option 1

Click More Reply Options.

At the bottom of the text box there is a red button that says "Attach Files". Click on that and navigate to the picture you want.

Select your photo and click "open". It will then list your image(s) in that same area.

You then need to select "attach image" or "insert image" (I can no longer do this option so I forget the exact wording because it won't let me do it).

Your image will now embedded in your post.

Option 2

Go to "My Gallery". You can get there by clicking on your icon/name at the very top of the page.

Click the red "Upload" button.

Now choose either "Create New Album" or "Select Album".

Click the black "Choose files" towards the bottom of the page.

Pick the images you want.

Then click the black "review and publish" towards the right side of the bottom of the page.

Come back to this thread.

Click More Reply Option

In the toolbar at the top of the text box click "My Media"

This should bring a pop up that has a list of options on the left. Click "My Images".

You should now see your images in your Gallery. Select what you want. It'll put the images in the thread.

Now click the red "Finshed"

Done!
