52 lbs in 52 weeks - goodbye 2014!

Recommended Posts

Well, it's New Year's Eve so I can officially post that I lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks. I actually hit my goal a couple of weeks ago but I wanted to wait until the end of the year to post it. Thank you to Nerd Fitness for getting me started. The beginner bodyweight workout was perfect for completely out of shape me many months ago. I've moved on to weightlifting now but still add in pushups, lunges (my former nemesis), etc. just to keep up the skill. I've gone from 202.5 pounds to 150. From knee pushups to multiple sets of decline pushups. I can do chin-ups and bench 95# and feel great while running. My PCOS is under control, my cholesterol numbers are great, and I'm anticipating getting rid of my CPAP after a doctor's visit next week. In short, it's been a great year and I'm looking forward to more great things in 2015.

(The before pictures are posted in my old Woot thread but they are my only before shots so I'll repost them.)

WOW. A 1lb a week loss REALLY stacks up! I hardly know why anyone tries for more - 1 lb is hard work enough and you can go so far in a year. That's amazing.

It came off very fast at first. Something like 30 pounds the first six months. Then around 10 pounds every three months after that. I was eating a bit more those later months, though, because I find that I can't cut too far and still feel fueled enough for my workouts. It took me awhile to sort it out but I've come to the conclusion that stalled progress with workouts bugs me more than slower weight loss. A year ago it was the other way around but as I've lost weight I've been able to transition my mindset in that way.

"Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most."

I recently read this quote and I couldn't help but think of it while considering Silo's yearlong efforts that were well rewarded. To show long-term discipline makes you a stronger, better person. I'm trying to be a stronger better person too, and stories like Silo's help keep me on track.

Also, I wanted you to know that I keep coming back to this thread whenever I feel like my weight loss has stalled. I keep reminding myself that 1 pound a week is plenty, and even if it's "just" one pound a week I could get a transformation like yours one year from today.

Soooo...thanks for posting? :3 It's been super helpful.
