Weight loss milestone!

Recommended Posts

This won't sound like a big deal to most of you guys, but I finally hit 230 pounds! I haven't weighed that since I was a freshman in high school, so now I'm more convinced than ever that I can keep going! I still have about 40 more pounds to lose to hit my ultimate goal!

I can't do as much as I would like because I'm still a student living at home and my family isn't totally supportive of my fitness, so they don't buy healthy foods or anything like that! All I've done so far is cut out soda (which made a massive difference), cut out chips, eat smaller portions at meal times, put myself on a regular sleep schedule, and done one rotation of the beginner bodyweight circuit every other day, because that's all I can get right now!

My next small goal is to be able to do an actual push-up, which I'm throughly embarrassed that I still can't do! I'm still at the stage where I have to do knee push-ups, but I'm not trying to gain muscle right now, but push-ups are still a goal because those "fitness jerks" I go to school with do them to show off, and I can't even do one!

Quick tip: Just call them knee pushups... calling them "girl pushups" somewhere ruled by Overlord Spezzy is probably not a good way to make friends. :)  And congrats! I remember going from 'no pushups' to 'ONE! YEAH!' to 'four, holy crap!' to my current record of twenty seven. What's your plan for pushups?

The cancer was aggressive, but the chemotherapy was aggressive, as well.

There was aggression on both sides.

My plan is to just keep attempting weight loss. Push-ups aren't a main part of my goal yet. I'm still focusing on weight loss. My goal weight is 190, and I still have 40 more to lose. I live in a bad neighborhood and can't afford a gym, so cardio is hard. I would love some ideas for cardio! I plan to cook my first paleo meal tomorrow! It's also gonna be the first time I really eat vegetables since I was younger and threw up on spinach. I know I can tolerate carrots and baby corn, so I want to try it in the chicken stir fry! Never cooked before, should be fun!

Burpees and shadowboxing.  Shadowboxing can be remarkably good cardio, and requires very little space, and you can do it when watching TV (heck, it makes TV more fun sometimes!) Stay on your toes, bounce around, throw fast, snapping punches, and always keep bobbing and moving.  Great for your legs and your shoulders. Also bodyweight squats for power movements.

Bodyweight squats are already part of the circuit I do! I plan to make some kind of cardio my Monday-Wednesday-Friday exercise, because I do the bodyweight circuit on Tueday-Thursday-Saturday! I want to do something fun on Sundays, like next year when I'm at college there's a trail that runs through the campus, and I would like to make that my Sunday eventually! I also got my first weight related compliment yesterday! Someone said "Man, you were way bigger than you are now when we camped this summer"! It felt great to get that after only 30 pounds! I'm excited to see what they say after I lose the next 40! Even more excited whenever I eventually start building muscle!

UPDATE: I decided to change it up because I couldn't resist starting shadowboxing today! I did one five minute round, because I love UFC and wanted to follow one of their rounds. I don't feel completely drained after I finished, but I definitely feel like I got a workout. On Saturday I'm probably going to try to do two five minute rounds, just to see how well I can handle that. If it proves to be too much then I'll have Sunday to recover and know to dial it down to five again until I can move it up! Thanks for the tip, it's definitely a fun activity, I imagined I was my favorite UFC fighter in a title fight!

And "girl pushups" is sexist. Some of us guys can do them too if we want :)

Thanks! I was talking to my grandma, who I live with, about trying to cook this weekend. All I got in response was "There's no way the stuff we're eating now is THAT bad" but I looked at my spending and I've spent $80 on less than healthy food since December, and I'm not even close to the primary provider for my family! So, clearly it's pretty bad! So, for now, I'm stuck just eating less, trying to cut out as much as possible!

No new developments on the push up front but today I got in a stair race with a total fitness jerk. He didn't understand why he lost, because he thinks he's like the fittest person ever because he goes home every night and bench presses for hours. No other workouts, then goes and guzzles protein shakes. I only know he does that because I'm good friends with his brother! I was talking about the changes I made to some friends and he challenged me to that stair race, planning to beat me easily just because I'm not "totally ripped",which is how he describes himself a lot. Felt good to beat him! I'm finally seeing awesome results and I've never been this confident!
