Running a little better!

Recommended Posts

I have a PT test coming up that requires me to run 1.5 miles within 16 minutes. My best in boot camp was 13:30. But since that point I usually ran it in 14:00 or 14:30. After breaking my ankle my next PT test was bad with a 15:30.  I test on the 23rd this month so my supervisor has been helping me push myself on the run and helping me keep a 13:30 pace.

It's been hard as hell. We've only done it twice so far. We run 2 laps, walk 1, run 2, walk 1, run the last 2 for a total of 1.5 miles. Then walk around again to cool down.

It's going to be hard to put it all together in 6 laps without walking, but I think next week we'll be trying to do 3 laps of sustained running with 1 walk.

I don't think I'll get a 13:30 because I just don't have enough time to train up to that pace on all 6 laps. But I do think my score will be a lot better than 15:30 and I'll definitely pass.

The w00t you've been waiting for

First run session I did 2 laps in 4:28, second set was around 4:50 and the third set was so slow he didn't bother telling me the time.

Yesterday I did 2 laps in 4:28, second set was 4:30, and the last set was 4:50.

It felt awesome to know I did better. 4:30 for 2 laps is our goal so I was feeling good. I hated every second of it and it hurt and I felt like I was going to die, but I didn't stop.

Now I have to run again tomorrow -_____-

Thanks!

Yeah running is such a pain but it's a part of my life for the next few year so I'll have to deal.

I used to run really well, then got slow and lazy, then got broken.

I started squatting and running on my toes and I'm back to maxing or nearly maxing my run every time.

I've seen the ball of your foot running/toe running but it's really difficult for me for some reason. I think because it's just so different from my usual running style of a heel striker.

It just takes a while to adapt.  Start with 100m, then increase distance slowly over time.
