Hi!

I'm a 26-year-old Austrian and I just started working out at the beginning of May and am getting conscious about the food I eat.

In my freetime I enjoy Musical-Soundtracks, and larping. At Larp I'm mostly playing supportive roles, like cook, side-kick, servant, or curious woodlandcreature that has no idea how the human world works and asks a lot of silly questions. While playing roleplaying games on the PC I usually pick Mages, Priests (both with healing of course), and sometimes Rogues.

Some of my favourite PC-Games are Dragon Age, Fallout NV, Mass Effect,  Skyrim and Terraria. (One of those is not like the others)

I also enjoy puzzlegames like the Ace Attorney games, Professor Layton or Thomas was alone.

Now to the non-hobby-content.

At 1,71m I'm about 77kilos currently. I've never measured my bodyfat but judging from the pictures posted on the bodyfat blogpost, I think I look most like the picture at 25-26% but I'd say tending more to 25 currently.

I'm mostly cooking for myself, so I don't have to take care of anyone elses dietary needs.

Currently I'm tracking what I eat with a little notebook and I try to cut down on carbs and maybe ease a bit into Paleo by trying it for 3-4 times a week.

Concerning workouts, I'm at the gym 3 times a week (M,W,F) where I currently do a mixture of Latpulls, and Dumbbells and am also working on my bodyweight squats (I still have problems keeping the correct form, but I concentrate on it and it gets better).

My current goals would be

to lose body fat,

strenghen my back (I actually got a few problems with my cervical spine (? Halswirbelsäule) and my family got a history of Spinal disc herniation (mother, grandmother and uncle) which isn't imoproved by the fact that I like sitting in front of a computer for my hobbies and am also doing it for my work as a graphic designer),

eat better,

gain strenght.

Also I want killer arms... (to the tune of Into the woods Agony : Vanity~)

For the future I'd also be interested in picking up dancing (especially things like tap dance and jazz dance) which I can't afford the classes for at the moment, and didn't have the discipline so far for trying to teach myself a few basics.

And now I feel like I wrote maybe a bit too much without giving too much detail.

If I left anything important out, please tell me.

Hi! Welcome to NerdFitness!

It sounds like you have gotten off to a good start. Well done!

Please feel free to look around on the site and make posts in any of the areas. :) You may find it useful to go to the Bodyweight Strength Training forum and post a video in Form Check to have experienced bodyweight trainers critique your forms. This may be especially important if you potentially have back problems, to make sure that you will not hurt yourself from the way you are doing your exercises.

All in all, keep up the good work! NF has regular 6-week challenges, and the next begins soon - April 13. You can read about them by following the link at the top of the page. These challenges are great at helping you to establish habits or keep accountable in maintaining good habits. They can also be motivating for reaching specific goals. You set up your own goals, and work toward them, so it can be whatever you want. :)

Hi JMitch,

Thanks for the reply :)

When I started my training at the gym I took a trainer who watched my squat and said that at first I should just do the ones where you sit back on a bank, because that's where he liked my form best.

He also showed me what to do with the dumbbells to strenghen my back and shoulders since my doctor sad this would be the important thing for me to work on.

Concerning form I'm really careful since I've always been really cautious about not hurting myself.

That said, I will try to make a video of my form and post it.

What I do at gym is. I place myself with a mirror in front and one on the side and try to watch myself in the frontmirror while going down and then take a quick peek at my form from the side.
I hope it's okay to do that.

Also I will consider joining the next challenge and include dancing once a week.

Would it be good to post my training and my daily meals in the Daily Battle Logs part of the forum?
