dendodge
I've started inserting sets of push-ups to failure throughout my day, mostly as a mild self-punishment for letting myself get distracted. I've been doing push-ups for a while, but never tested my limits before. Yesterday morning, I managed 17. This morning, I got 20 and felt pretty damn good. This afternoon, I made 26, pushing myself there despite my arms begging me to stop, because I wanted to get more than a quarter of the way to a century. I just tried again, and felt convinced I was going to fail within 10. If my triceps were dogs, they'd have been looking at me with wide eyes and their tails between their legs within 15. My abs, like that one family member who always gives in to the puppy eyes, took their side and inflicted pain of their own. But I refused to let them beat me. I was going to hit 27, and no power in the verse could stop me. And then, like Forrest Gump running across Greenbow County, I figured hey, I made it this far, why can't I do 30? So I did. Then my arms gave way and I spent a good minute trying to get off the floor. But dang, it was satisfying. 30 isn't many, but if I can do that, why can't I do 35? Or 40? Tomorrow, I will. 2 Quote dendodge the level 0 Skeleton Recruitin training to become some kind of Warrior/Druid hybridSTR 0 | DEX 0 | CON 0 | STA 0 | WIS 0 | CHA 0daily battle log: "dendodge learns to fight Cylons" Link to comment
Jett
Congrats, that's some awesome mind-over-matter stuff right there. Don't forget to let your arms have a little rest, though! Remember, your muscles don't get stronger from exercise, they get stronger from rebuilding afterwards. 1 Quote Current Challenge | Daily Log Link to comment

Yeah, I'm always telling my girlfriend that when she insists on pushing herself too hard, but I'm always telling myself that one little set can't do any harm... So I do sometimes need to be reminded that I really should just stick to using my rest days for, y'know, rest. Jett
I guess, if you're the kind of person who likes to do something every day, you could split your workouts and alternate doing something for legs and something for arms. Whatever works for you. Quote Current Challenge | Daily Log Link to comment
