Tiny girl benches 100 pounds!!!

Recommended Posts

I finally benched 100 pounds (at 118 bodyweight)!!! (Granted, it was a touch and go rep, so it only half counts.) It only took me one and a half years to go from a wobbly bare bar bench to benching 100 pounds. It only took five different attempts over the course of one and a half months before the bar finally went up. It was a massive morale-reducing grind to get here.

Anyways, enough rambling. Here's the video.

And here's a transformation pic of my arms for reference. I was truly a limp ramen noodle.

On a side note, my jimmies are quite rustled because multiple people have warned me against arching my back on facebook. Do they even lift???

Hell yeah I live for arbitrary goals! Especially nice rounded numbers or specific numbers of plates. For example, I want to squat 2 plates (already hit 100kg so I guess that's another arbitrary goal) and deadlift 300 pounds. Of course the whole system gets messed up when we convert to kilos because I would need a whole new set of arbitrary goals.

Congrats!

Most people who lift don't power lift so seeing the back arch messes with their mind.

I've lifted on and off since I was in high school and never learned that technique. It was always lift bar up, keep back flat and weight controlled, tap the chest, then push bar up.

Good one. Maybe that'll be the case if I ever start training with kilo plates. I usually set one goal at a time, so for now pound-based goals it is.

Congratulations on the bench! Getting stronger all the time!

125kg two plates or 225lb two plates?

Whoa whoa whoa let's not get ahead of ourselves. 125 kg is very far from where I am!!! Don't know if I'll ever squat that in my lifetime, but I guess I recently hit that arbitrary goal on deadlift. Yay!

Congrats!

Yeah, I get that many people don't bench with an arch and that's great. Awesome. My arch is pretty tiny, so I get all jimmy-rustled and DYEL when people think it's dangerous. "That arch doesn't look comfortable." Well benching 100 pounds isn't a walk in the park either so...

Congrats, that's a nice transformation! Your arms look much better now.

Congrats! That's fantastic :)

:) :) :) Thanks guys!

Congrats you look amazing. =) I am so impressed that you can benchpress your own weight pretty much.

That's my next goal! I could reach it sooner or later depending on what weight I decide to approach.

Update: I reached another arbitrary goal yesterday: squatting 225 pounds! All while on a cut, losing maybe 8 pounds (From 123 to 115) over the course of 2.5 months.

Fun back story of the lift:

I tried this weight two weeks ago. Got stuck. Dropped the weight and gave up.

I tried this weight again yesterday, but my torso twisted a little bit during the grind so my boyfriend gave me a little help. That rustled my jimmies because I thought I could've made the lift if I grinded more, but that gains goblin stole my gains. Here's the video of the danger squat:

After a bunch of rest and moping around about my Schrodinger's gains for 10 minutes, I decided to try it again. This time, I got it. Instead of giving up when I got stuck, I just kept pushing. I was at my sticking point for about 3 seconds. No wonder my legs are so sore today.

Hey!  Look at you!  I remember one of your first posts about "bendy back" people.  Really cool to see you are still progressing.

If you don't mind, could you add an entry to http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/37926-when-we-were-weaker-once-and-young/as an encouragement to others (you may already have).
