Hey y'all! I'm 32, 5'7, single momma to a heart baby. His condition has led me to be a stay at home momma, which is hard, but it's worth it to keep him safe.

The first three months of his life we lived in the children's hospital in town. It wasn't too bad, I was able to get healthy food from the hospital since I was nursing (well, pumping) and was able to walk around the ward with him. Coming home was different.

His cardiologist doesn't want him exposed to a whole lot of people just yet, so that leaves shopping out of the question. Thankfully I have family that's been helping me out with errands, but I'm finding it hard to eat truly healthy on my very limited budget.

I've gotten advice from family and freinds, but it hasn't been as helpful as we hoped. For instance, I don't eat eggs, and meat is becoming more and more expensive.

I'm looking to get healthier. I've never been a skinny chick, even when I was a student athlete. I want my son to see that being healthy is possible at any time. Any advice or tips are very welcome!

Thanks!

Welcome to the rebellion. You are doing a great thing, and you can be healthy on a limited budget and having to stay at home, it just takes time. Check out Steve's blog posts on healthy eating and body weight exercises. There are a whole host of things you can do with body weight alone. Eating healthy, however is going to be what's most important. Vegetables are your friend, figure out which are inexpensive.

You are one tough Momma! Finding inexpensive options to stay within a budget is definitely not easy. Besides Steve's posts (which are great!), there is a site called Paleo On A Budget and she explains the best ways to find inexpensive veggies and meats and how to make a budget last! Hope that helps, good luck on your journey!
