IronChefEd
I tried to come up with some clever title for this thing, but the juices just weren't flowing this morning. Anyway, I'm going to use this much like everyone else does: tracking what I do every day. It may not be much more than just a quick note about lifting something or jogging a few miles, but it will be something. With that said, I'll go ahead and report on yesterday's activity: Monday, 7/27/15: Weight training. Sadly, my gym is a community rec center, and unfortunately they don't have the budget for free weights and associated equipment (and I don't have the budget for a gym that has said equipment). So I'm stuck using weight machines, some of which have seen better days. Fortunately, I know enough about proper form that I don't let myself get caught doing the exercises in a bad way. Yesterday included assisted chin-ups and dips, overhead press, triceps extension, cable fly, pulldowns, crunches, and something I know I'm forgetting. Will try to keep better track of what I'm doing to allow accurate reporting. IronChefEd
Tuesday, 28 July: Race training, indoor track, 3 miles, 31:30. My "running" is really little more than jogging, and my usual pace at that speed is somewhere around 12:00/mi. I'm experimenting with adding periods of faster jogging and actual running. I need to work on my lung capacity, since my problem for years has always been getting seriously winded after I go at high speed for more than a couple minutes. Going at the lower speed keeps me from sucking up every available molecule of oxygen in the room, and I've had a little success in getting my respirations back to normal after the increased pace. Will look to build on that over the upcoming weeks. IronChefEd
Wednesday: weights, with a little more focus on shoulder work. Don't know why, but I feel like I haven't been getting as good a workout on them recently. Today (Thursday) was a washout, as I was waiting on a plumber who showed up almost 2 hours after his appointment window and took another 90 minutes to complete the work (to be fair, there were four things that needed doing) meant that I missed my gym time this afternoon. I'm going to make that up tomorrow so it will be 3 miles plus weights.
