So I havne't been on here in a long while.

I haven't lost any of the wieght I want to loose, but I have upped my endurance by a bit.

I have been consitently going to the a group 3 days a week and do some sitting streches and then walk around the gym quite a few times.  I got to a point where I would walk outside with someone and was doing around a mile a day.  Endurance wise it was great, and I have felt and looked better.  However it didn't go down and I started skipping meals again.  So that is giong to be my second step.

The first step is walk Zoe more again, I have let off and only walked her when I was group, and never did much for daily walks past that.  i know she needs it as much as I do, but its a little easier for her since she has four legs and no health issues.  I am thinking start with twice a day, on the days I don't go to group in the evening, and at least once on the days I do.

Last week I was dead tired all week, I think it had some to do with not eating much, it was 100º F or so during the day, and I slept a lot, then stayed up at night with nothing to do other than read or wach netflix.  I also left Zoe at home when I went out, that could have had an imact as well since she is my regulator on things.  I generally have been taking her everywhere with me for the last year.

I have recently gotten into Kayaking am working on that, only a hour or so of light paddling so that is heling me, but I want to go on a trip that is going to be a lot longer and need to build up more and loose a few so my heart doesn't have to work as hard to get it going.

Step 2 is going to be start eating right again, when I was watching what I ate and trying to stay at 80/20 paleo I was loosing weight, even though I couldn't as well as I can now.  So go back to eating right and that will hel me start to loose again, hopefully.

Step 3 is get rid of the crap I don't use.  I have been going on a minimalist kick and want to get rid of a lot of my junk that has sat unused for 3+ years.  Its hard because I have always had the "I may need thissomeday" attitude.  So far that is giong good this week, I am actually starting to get things cleared up a bit.

Step 4 is get out and do somethingsocial.  I have been going out twice a week and writing on my blog, so I can will talk to the people at a local restraunt, during the middle of the night while I write.

So far I am doing the most of the steps I listed but I need to start the eating right again, and maybe change step 4, since I am wiritng this at 3:30 AM at Shari's restraunt with some coffee.

I have been static around 303 and could use a little more encouragment to get going.  Tonight (well, last night) while I was taking everything off of a bookshelf I found a running journal that I got to when I was going to start using for an ultra and then got into stronglifts.  I can use that for starting my walks and journaling them maybe even try to do a couch to 5K and see what I can do with light jogging? Not sure if it will happen but its a goal I can us to get me walking more and for longer periods.  I still want to get to wehre I can go on hikes and backpacking trips. a light jog will do good for that, if I can gt to were I can jog a few miles I should be able to walk 10 and go caming right?

Welcome back! Well done on having the courage to respawn, it's not easy.

I think you have good goals! Yeah, if you can jog a few miles I think you could walk 10. But I'm not a jogger, so it's hard for me to say. I started about where you are weight-wise last October. I've walked *lots* but haven't done much running yet. One important thing to consider (to me, anyway): do you like running? If it's too much of a chore it might be harder to keep it up. If you're looking forward to hikes, can you start them immediately? Doesn't have to be a long hike. Even a short hike can prove to be a good challenge and good exercise.

Anyway, great you're having another go, I've personally found the NF community to be very helpful and supportive so I think you've come to the right virtual location!

Not sure how jogging will work, but if I can work up to a light jog and keep my heart rate down it should be fine.

This morning after I got home I sat down for a few and when I got up I was really light headed and felt like I was going to fall over for a second. Today hasn't gone to well so far for me started getting drowsy so I took it easy at the VA M.O.V.E. group and now am going to go have lunch with a friend. Will probably end up napping a bit before I drive home.

I wish I had a normal heart...

You have some really good goals, why not head over to the recruit section and join the current six week challenge? That would be a great place to get some accountability for your goals.

if you have a dog, for godsake walk that dog.  It bugs me how many people get a pet and then make it sick from indolence.  Or worse, the animal goes crazy from boredom and then they complain it has behavioral problems, when all it needs is some exercise!

your goals sound great.  How about making them more concrete, like "get rid of one box of stuff per week"?

I too am going to see a cardiologist soon (not for atrial fib, but to check for possible inherited defect).  So, props.  Being mortal is annoying, but better to find out the worst now and get it treated now, rather than drop dead without warning later.

You might consider making your first few hikes day hikes, and please bring a (human) buddy along, in case something goes wrong.  Camping is great but it's best to level up a bit first.  Try making your habits more diurnal if you can, because you don't want to be a sleepy groundhog when you're out hiking in broad daylight.

I haven't taken Zoe for as many specific walks, but she still does get exercise. She goes pretty much everywhere with me. I don't take her if I go to the river, toastmasters, or shopping with my 'roommates'. If I am by myself she is with me 98% of the time, no matter where I go. I tried leaving home last week so I could do floor exercises at group and noticed a big difference in not having her with me.

Those genetic heart things suck, I hope you don't have any issues. I found out when I was in heart failure, I should have gotten checked rather avoiding it for so long. If you do have an issue like HCM or something make sure you have a good cardiologist and look at some of the stuff from Dr. BJ Maron,he's got pretty good info.

Today I was tired. It wasn't all that good for the first half. But I did get over 7500 steps on my fitbit. Hopefully tomorrow I will have more energy since I am going on river.

Well, when I went to the coast last June I was getting over double that, my highest 17+ and it was great. Loved the views.

One thing I do today was have someone mention they could barely budge the bar on a seated pulldown machine of some sort at the gym. There is a gentleman that started at 45 pounds and now he has maxed it out, his goal is to hold 195 in three different positions for a minute each on the curcuit he created. Since they where talking about it and of course I "can't lift over fifty pounds" I had to walk over and do three reps with it maxed. Most of the guys in there are 50+ and talk about their grandkids or stuff that happened in the war.

Of course I still haven't gotten a straight answer on if it is 50 total or each arm, my feet are holding up nearly 300, so I should e able to press that right? Okay on that note I still don't lift heavy, but like to make sure I can if needed every once in a while ;)

River was awesome, I did manage to get a little wet, and went swimming a few times (5) since I never done a roll on my yet. I thought about trying the two times and should have. By the fourth rapid I spaced out half way through and luckily nothing else happened, did one more after that then got out and rested while they went the rest of the way down, I felt bad since one of the guys waited with m me and didn't go down all the way.

After I got home I to stay up until 9 pm and got up once to let Zoe out at 8:30 and then went back to bed until 10:45 am. Yesterday afternoon I doing something and had a little bit of chest pain, but it didn't last long, today while walking slowly at the gym I started getting more angina and it went all the way to the shoulder. I am thinking I am going to have to make a decision for the time being on what to do. I want to do things and have a little fun, but one of my goals is still to out of the hospital unless I have an appointment. And heart pain usually leads to bad things for me.

Still not back to where I was two weeks ago, I guess it's on step forward at a time and some times I might go back a few. Start again slowly and hope I can keep the momentum going forward at least I'm not back to were I wasn't able to walk twenty feet without major problems.

Eating has been healhty, been on a more regular basis, but not what is needed. I made a food budget, and it consist of non-Paleo Onigiri, beans, and oats.

This is a "low-cost food plan" (I think) that I am going to start and see what it does during the next month. (I am saving all the reciepts so Ican find out how low cost it really is,) I wrote out a weeks meals that will be around 2,100 calories, and plan to use that and adjust it slightly as wieght goes down.

For wieght I set a goal of 90 pounds in the year of 2016 . . .

To accomplish this goal I am going to work on loosing 5 pounds a week

Yes, that is how good I am at math.

5*52-WTF=90

I want to get back down to 220 or so, that has been my goal for a long time, and I have slowly done things but haven't done enough. Actually planning out the meals will allow for calorie intake to be controlled, also working with others and upping my exercise routine at the VA, no longer walking laps at a slow pace, If Ido laps they have to be normal - moderate pace.

90 pounds over 52 weeks is 1.73 pounds,or roughly 7.5 pounds a month. I always like to plan for the extreme. But on this one I subtracted WTF, wich is all those times I screw it up, and allows for any plateaus, If I loose 20 pounds in February, but only 2 in March it won't make a difference in my goal. If I end up loosing 5 a week and am down to my the goal by June then it will become maintain and by the time the holidays come around again I can have a routing that I can stay in to keep it all at a managable wieght.

The other things should play into accordance and work outwith financial stuff at the same time since most of the extras I get now is food and lattes

As far as keeping up to date on here it is going to be about once a week that I check and post to my log. So far as accountibility have one two people on MFP, and would like to add more, jsut have to keep up and start keeping it up to date and not skipping days or months at a time.

There goes the at least once a week deal . . .

I went to Portland last week and had an EKG, was told after that it looks like the septum has not changed in size, so no future prospects of surgery soon and that makes me happy.

I asked the doctor about my shaking and she said to set up an appointment with nuero for that. I am going to talk to my PA and se if I can have him set one up for me. That seems to be getting a little worse these days, I hope that it is something I can control and get figured out.

Came up with a new goal for 2016. Well, It isn't like a new years goal, but I set a long term date to meet it, the end of next year. I wan't to loose about 90 pounds. Pretty much still the same as before but never have set a reasonable date to it. With 53 weeks it would work out at about 1.7 pounds per week, if I can keep that average for most of the year I should get to my goal weight of 220. Since I like to be an over acheiver and set goals that most people say is outragous I did set that, but will use this one as a fallback. My actual goal is 5 pounds a week, and that is on the higher than average side, if Ican manage that for 90 days it will be 60 punds lighter by the time I turn 35. Then keep it up for a couple more months and will be down to a good wieght by the middle of the year and can use the rest of the year sustain and figure a good meal plan that I like to sustain. Part of the reason of setting a long term goal is if I am unable to manage the 5 ounds a week I can still meet the goal by the end of the year, even if Ido plateua for a month or two during that time. I could always work to drop my BMI down to 24, that would be about 190, so that would be 120 pounds, haven't been at that wieght since my freshman year in high school and I had to cut 20 pounds to get there.
