Stronkey Kong
Alright! We're back at it with another weightloss PvP. But the storm is coming. For many of us the Holiday season (Nov - Dec) is the worst time to try to start losing weight. It's too easy to give in to holiday feasts and we put it off for the New Year. But why put it off till the New Year? Get ahead of the game. Join this PvP! The rules are simple: 1) Sign up by putting your name and starting weight in the spreadsheet. Set your goal weight in the spreadsheet; originally we set a goal of 10 lbs. over 10 weeks. But you can set whatever you think is most reasonable for your body and your circumstances.2) Introduce yourself to the team. Discuss your goals, strategy, and motivation. Also, please to post links to your current challenge and battle log. It's important for team members to support you.3) Cheer other members on. We are unified as brothers and sisters with a common goal. Tell us your stories, post funny gifs... whatever you think will get people coming back to check in rather than eat a Christmas cookie.4) Post weight regularly in the spreadsheet. Weigh-ins are scheduled for every Monday of this challenge. You are free to select a different weigh-in day if it works for you. But let's all shoot for a weekly weigh-in. 5) You can join in anytime. Just let us know and adjust your goals accordingly. Better to start now than wait, even if there's only two weeks left of the challenge. 6) Also, shoot for healthy weight loss of 1-2 lb. or 0.5-1 kg / week. And have good reasons and evidence for the goal you set. Good Luck! Stronkey Kong
Well, reserving this slot did come in handy after all since we decided to do a little story. Or at least I did and it looks like some of you will play along. Again, this is totally optional. It's just a device to introduce people to some new ideas and challenges and keep them coming back for more entertainment. Every week I'll introduce a new "Chapter" and a challenge or goal. Basically, if you choose to participate attempt this goal and write your own portion of the story. Have fun adapting to events as they unfold, adapting your stories around each others, etc. I'll likely adapt the main arc to the challenges people are facing. Links to each are listed here for easy reference. SkiBlue
DOOOO EEEEETTTTTT! And spread the word. Aye aye, captain! So, here are my battle log and current challenge threads, for anyone interested. I've been a member of the forums since this month 2012. I'd been away for a while, as I'd gone through eight challenges and was still dragging my feet to make solid changes in my life. I left for a while to set myself straight, struggle on my own, and planned to come back eventually. This year, I knocked off something from my bucket list and attended Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. It was a ton of fun, and I was so excited to finally be DOING SOMETHING I've always wanted to do. This got me thinking, well damn, I'm two years away from turning 30, and I've only gotten TWO THINGS crossed out on that list?! What am I waiting for, seriously?! It caused a spiral of determination to see my life through to its fullest, not waiting for myself to get in gear to continue waiting until I lost weight to do the things I want. So, I'm doing both; I'm making strides to do more of the things I love and want to do, and I'm working to lose weight and make myself healthier. I've set a specific goal for myself at the beginning of September to lose a total of 20lb by my birthday, December 22nd. Excess fat MELTS off me when I eat clean, particularly a Paleo diet. My husband is in cutting mode himself and has suggested that I count my calories and macros, to make sure I'm eating enough and that they're spread out better through the day. I'm combining the two for this challenge to reach my goal, as I've already lost about 6lb, which resulted from my Whole30 during September. I'm also stretching and strength training. That's about it. 14 more lb to go! 1 Quote LEVEL 1 REBEL Link to comment
Blaidd
I'm joining in tooooooo But i'm doing mine in metrics, I hope you don't mind. I'm on a permanent mission to lose weight, but it's less of a fixation now. I'd rather get my life in order before refocusing on the weight thing, so I've chosen a smallish weight goal (5kg) to start with and once I feel like I can focus on weightloss again I will increase the goal. My challenge and battle log are in my signature 3 Quote Half Faerie (Sidhe) Scout | Black Belt Kitchen Ninja "A positive attitude will not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort" - Herm Albright You're welcome to skype me (audriwolf) too but let me know who you are My challenge Link to comment
Stronkey Kong
I am Curl Brogo, formerly Darwin's Demon. The original weightloss PvP was started a year and a half ago by a tight nit handful of warriors who benefitted from friendly competition in seeing who could achieve lift goals the fastest. They all got their lift goals, but in the process got fat, or just wanted to lose some weight so they applied this to weight loss. The original test was to see who could lose 20 lbs. in 10 weeks. Ambitious but possible. I joined in the fight. As they readied themselves for battle, many spectators from across the guilds began to gather. "The more the merrier, they thought." and the PvP was opened to all. And so, warriors, rangers, assassins, scouts, adventurers and druids all joined the fight to lose 20 lbs. in 10 weeks. Some prevailed. Many had small victories, and even a few (myself included) balooned to heavier proportions. And here we are, fighting the good fight once again. I started with original group in Spring of '14. And at first I made some good strides. But I often got distracted from weight loss by my strength goals. I finally sat out on the last one or two because I wanted to focus on getting strong. Now I'm focussng entirely on losing weight. I've been on a ketogenic (very low carb) diet for the past 5 weeks. I have lost about 10 lbs. So I am going to try to keep this rate of weight loss going through the holidays by lifting light and staying ketogenic. I'm also starting a temporary holiday job in a warehouse where I'll be walking briskly and lifting small things for 40-50 hrs/week. So I'll be shooting for 20 lbs. lost by January. I figured I'd poke the wasps' nest and get this thing going again for some accountability and encouragement. I also have a side goal of not eating a single Christmas cookie. Current challenge and battle log links are in my siggy. 2 Quote ===================================================================================================== --Stronkey Kong-- Link to comment
KB Girl
Not sure if this is for me. Only losing weight because of a competition in 4 weeks, and a bit more drastically than would be ideal... but I could sure use some inspiration or a place to hang out hangry, y'know. Thoughts? 1 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

It's going all right, but we went out for sushi last night... an all you can eat place... how is a person supposed to stay low cal in that situation hm? impossible. Or I just suck. But other than that it's going quite alright, i've prepped most of my food which seems to be working. Eliminating the decision making process. I've taken some pics.. taking some pride in the things that go right seem to really help! 3 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment
ExpectJade
So my name is Rab397 and i am really stoked about a group like this! i tried to lose weight in the past succesfull but due to lack of support and motivation in challenging times. My weight spiked up again just as hard. My strategy is really simple one, watch out with carbs and just eat normal meals in regular portion sizes while in the meantime cutting out soda and candy. Combine this with excercise 3 times a week and a walk everyday i should increase my metabolism and sturt burning enough calories to start losing weight. My goal per week is to drop around 1 to 1.5 KGs. So a bit more then the target weight in the spreadsheet but this is because i kept in account that there has to be some room te play.So yeah thats me on another note, THOSE MEALS LOOK DELICIOUS! What are those brown things in the front see through bin? 4 Quote Lvl 1: Adventurer with monk ambitions Current weight: 123,3 KG. Target weight: 85KG Link to comment

Artemis
It's completely true that this is going to be even harder throughout the holidays but, as I said before, I'm still in. I'm Artemis, and you can find my current challenge thread in my sig.Story: I've lost weight before, however, I gained it all back (and more) the summer before college and throughout my Freshman year. Losing weight was constantly on my mind for my first two years of college, however the motivation just wasn't there. Studied abroad in Italy, fell in love with good, healthy food again, lost a bit of weight, and found that my motivation was back. Since then I have cleaned up my diet, though there is still room for improvement, and lost over 10 pounds. Current motivation: Mandalorian Costume Armor that I'm building for TFA and I'm aiming to lose another 12 pounds by December 17th as part of that goal. It was also recently revealed that I may be going to Hawaii this summer with my family, so I really need to get in shape. I'm aiming to hit 160 by late January/early February and then reevaluate at that point. I freely admit that I plan on consuming cookies, pie, and creamed corn over Christmas Break, but I'll try to display some kind of restraint. If anyone has great meal suggestions, other weight-loss tips, etc. I'd love to hear your personal strategies. 5 Quote "Fairy tales are more than true not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten" -Neil Gaiman Mandalorian Assassin: Level 5 Current Challenge - Artemis becomes Mandalorian Overall Weight Loss Journey: Starting Weight - Current Weight - Goal -160lbs Link to comment
Lateral Planet
Count me in! This is such a great idea so close to the end of the year. That said, we don't do Thanksgiving here in Australia so I've got one less hurdle in the coming weeks. I hope to be moving out of home early next year, about when this challenge ends, so if I am successful here it will be really great. First of all, I'll be stronger and more able to haul a whole heap of boxes around, no worries, not to mention having the energy to unpack them all on the other side. Also, I'll be able to ditch a bunch of clothes that will no longer be appropriate for my size, which in turn means one less box to carry. Here are the links to my Battle Log and first ever 6WC thread. I expect I'll be very busy with those in the next few weeks! Good luck everyone 6 Quote Link to comment
Stronkey Kong
Yay! People are participating! I'm thinking of putting a story to PvP for the next 10 weeks to help make things a little more interactive. Basically, I will suggest some challenges based on a main storyline/premise and everybody can write their own portion of the story from their perspective as we go. Just something to make the thread and participation more interesting. Participation is completely optional. Anybody interested? I'm thinking of some sort of survival story. First thing that comes to mind is something post-apocalyptic, but that gets done a lot. Maybe our spaceship crashed and we're marooned on an uncharted planet... Or maybe something completely ridiculous... I like ridiculousness. Hmm... Any thoughts? Hold on. I think I got something... 3 Quote ===================================================================================================== --Stronkey Kong-- Link to comment
Artemis
Spaceship! Spaceship! I'm willing to give it a try, though I don't promise that my story will be any good. I will also attempt to make an appearance in everyone's 6wc threads sometime this week. 1 Quote "Fairy tales are more than true not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten" -Neil Gaiman Mandalorian Assassin: Level 5 Current Challenge - Artemis becomes Mandalorian Overall Weight Loss Journey: Starting Weight - Current Weight - Goal -160lbs Link to comment
SevenofSeven
G'day I am SevenofSeven and this is my first PvP challenge. I have been bouncing around the boards for a few years now and have entered 6 week Challenges on and off for a good while. I can be found in the Warrior Guild because I like to lift. Lately though I have added running/jogging/lurching to my exercise catalogue. It is time to now shut down the pie hole. I cannot out lift or out lurch my fork, I know this but I need to take resposibility and just do it! Although I know that with great eats comes great strength, but I need to change that mindset, especially when the lifting is inconsistant. I have lost weight in the past but want to make it a permanent thing! Paleo is kind to me and I need to tighten this little gem right up again. So here we are looking to join you guys and lose the extra kilos ( yep will be entering the spreadsheet with kilo and grams maybe tonnes ). I aim to look at between a 500g and 1kg a week. High expectations I know, but shoot high and I just might reach the stars! Good Luck Everyone! SkiBlue
Or maybe something completely ridiculous... I like ridiculousness. Mmmm... I love ridiculousness too. Story oriented sounds fun! There's a writing goal as part of my challenge, so I'd love another opportunity to exercise that muscle. Whatever theme is fine with me. As I can't figure out a ridiculous situation, I'll vote spaceship as well, just 'cause. Good motivation and strategies from everyone! Good luck! For tasty Paleo food, I just want to share one of my favorite chefs: Mel Joulwan, the author of the Well Fed series. She comes from a chef family and experiments all the time with making internationally inspired tasty Whole30/Paleo foods. Her recipes are staples in my house. She also has strategies for meal planning and making simple, tasty Paleo foods throughout the week. I have yet to give that a whirl myself, but I plan on trying it sometime during this challenge.
