Welcome victi... members to Betaville (Cheesy I know), the first test raid challenge. First things first, I'd like you to build a character template. It's easy, first, reply, then post what class you choose for this raid, and the equipment template below it, you will use this to track your equipment and stats. You can choose any class, you don't have to do your forum class.

Refer to here for rules: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/73076-raid-challenge-administration-office/

Being that you're the testers, and feedback is what I'm looking for. Just to keep things kind of tidy, you can either message me, or post in the Raid Challenge Admin Office thread at will. You can do each week, each day, at the end of the whole thing, any combination, or none at all.

How stats affect you,
Strength: + or - 1 pound for every 100 pounds lifted
Speed: + or - 1 second for every minute run
Agility: + or - 1 sec for every minute held
Whichever brings you closer to your goal.

Starting stats -

Warrior Stats:
Strength: 7
Speed:2
Agility:1

Ranger Stats
Strength: 4
Speed:3
Agility:3

Monk Stats
Strength: 2
Speed:4
Agility:4

Scout Stats:
Strength: 2
Speed:7
Agility:1

Druid Stats:
Strength: 2
Speed: 2
Agility: 6

Assassin Stats
Strength: 2
Speed:3
Agility:5

Equipment Template:

Helmet:
Cloak:
Bracers:
Chest:
Pants:
Boots:
Gloves:
Weapon:

Event 1: You are woken up by the sound of thunder, and immediately dread the whole routine of trying to get back to sleep. Then boom, another rumble of thunder, only this time you feel it come up through the bed. You sit up, and slowly start walking around your house trying to figure out just what that was. Off in the distance you start to hear screams, you grab your weapon, slam open the door, step out into the fleeing crowd and can see a dragon perched on a hilltop just south of town. Going against the flow of people you make your way to the gates, enter the courtyard and begin battle preparation.

TO ARMS! The commander yells

Everyone begins taking their places, the archers up on the wall [Optional] (Climb 30 stairs, combat is below),Catapults begin firing over the walls, trebuchets launching their multi ton ammo into the night, Fighters gather in the courtyard keeping an eye out for any wall breeches.

MESSENGERS UP! He yells

A handful of messengers make their way to the commander…

“I need you to send word of the attack to our neighbors, we need assistance else we’ll no doubt be over-run. Make hasteâ€

The messengers head out, running with everything they have (1 Person, Run 1 mile, lives depend on you)

Not long after the messengers leave, a wall section collapses and enemy troops begin pouring through the hole. You grab your weapon, and with the first satisfying thud of weapon against skull, you begin to fight. (Melee Fighters, fight until messengers make it back with assistance. Using any combat skill such as punches, kicks, and weapons swings, kill as many enemy troops as possible, be sure to alternate sides) (Archers on the wall, fire your arrows, single dumbell row, rubber band pull, or some similar one arm pulling motion, be sure to alternate arms.)(Fight until the messenger returns with reinforcements)

Event 2: You watch as the dragon lets out a low rumbling growl, the enemy troops stop fighting and start running away, you celebrate this perceived victory. As you begin to survey your village grounds, you could hardly call this a victory.
The next morning word comes of an attack on a neighboring village, all you heard was the word dragon and already had your gear ready to go. You and your fellow troops gather in the courtyard and with a single command a stream of troops pour through the front gate, headed to assist their neighbors. [Everyone] (Walk 3 miles with 30 pounds of weight, feel free to carry your weapon with you.)

Event 3: You arrive to see that you’re too late to be of any combat assistance. This village took a beating, multiple wall breeches, burned houses and bodies litter the ground. It’s humbling to know that this could have very easily been your village. You begin assisting in clean up, moving the bodies to a burial location outside the walls, helping rebuild the breeches, and clearing anything else that’s been damaged.

[Group]
To help repair a wall breech – Do 1 squat to hands extended, overhead or in front, motion (Clean and Jerk, Tire Flip, Kettlebells, burpees etc) 50 Reps is 1 wall rebuilt, there’s 5 breeches.
To help move a body - Move/Carry a 50 pound weight 30 feet, weight must be picked up, then put down to count if carrying, initial numbers put the body count at 150

Event 4: After assisting in repairs and clean up, you return home ahead of the night. Due to last nights attack security is ramped up. As a member of the military force you are on alert, stationed around the village. Late into the night you hear the horn that signifies an incoming enemy. The one catapult that wasn't destroyed in the last attack now needs to be moved to where it's most effective..

[Group] Move 60,000 pounds in 10 minutes. Just pick it up, and put it down... this catapult is also unique in that it has a wheel that a human can run in to both move it and pull the arm back. Run 1 foot for every one pound of weight.

Event 5: Early the next morning, scouts are sent out to track the attackers. They return with word of large 3 toed footprints that end at the mouth of a cave about 4 miles south of the village. Soon after the report, you stand at the mouth of the cave, ready to kill whatever is was that's been terrorizing the villages. Your party slowly enters the cave...

[Week Long] As you make your way through the caverns you run into various enemies.

30 Skeletal Tribesman - 4 hits per

35 Skeletal Rogues - You gotta chase em down, they tire out after 150 feet and take 2 hits per

40 Skeletal archers - 30 foot sprint to close the gap, drop to the ground to dodge the arrow, pop up and 5 hits per

50 Skeletal Chiefs- 20 hits per

Alright then...

Class: Ranger
Strength: 4
Speed:3
Agility:3

Helmet: Simple Cloth Cap

Cloak: Basic Fuzzy Warmer
Bracers: Wrist Stabilizers of Lifting
Chest: Dri Fit T-shirt
Pants: Compression shorts
Boots: Reebok Nanos 4.0
Gloves: Gymnastics Straps
Weapon: One-handed axe

Can I count the workout and lifting of today (Monday) for stat upgrade purposes?

Got a 10k night race coming up on Wednesday, so I can take up messenger duties, otherwise I'll just do Woodchoppers with my axe to kill enemies. I should also be able to complete the optional quest within a few days

The optional quest locks you in as an archer, for that scenario, which has a separate task during combat, optional also doesn't HAVE to be done by anyone. I'll go look at the rules and see if I can make that more clear.

Your equipment you can leave blank, you'll get items with stat bonuses attached, or you can attach those stats to your equipment up there too. :-) Clear this up too...

For this event the messenger is setting the time to fight, so the messenger needs to complete that part, before you all know how long you need to fight.

OK, thanks for the answers. Looking at my current schedule, I'd rather be the messenger. Distance will be covered within 48 hours after this post. If there's any runner onboard that plans to do it sooner, let me know

(Wow, this already feels like the endless planning and chatting outside a raid entrance...)

I'll go assassin for now, since I tend to focus on BW stuff.  I'm willing to switch to druid, if we need more diversity though.

Assassin Stats:
Strength: 2
Speed: 3
Agility: 5

Weapons: quarterstaff; shortbow

I do a run as my normal warmup, so I can post my time from today or wait to see if our scout wants to show us how it's done.  Don't want to cheat, so I'll just say that my 1.5mi PR is 11:13, though I'm normally closer to 12min.

Okay since the Ranger option opened up (and in my heart i want to be a ranger ;) or was it lifter, now i got myself confused, anywho):

Class: Ranger
Strength: 4
Speed:3
Agility:3

Weapon: Haladie

For the statistics, my 1 mile time is somewhere around 7 minutes (never tried this short distance).

To see if i get things right, we now wait for DarK_RaideR to see how long we have to keep fighting?

... a little odd in the head ...

That would be correct

Hang on, I thought I was the Ranger but doing the messenger part of the raid. Is it Scout-exclusive (as in, I have to switch to a Scout character to do it)?

Negative, the class is only for the stats. You can do whatever part of the task you want, and there can be multiple people of the same class.

Well in that case, I'll go assassin and help troubleshoot BW stuff.  Editting first post to reflect.

We also have two more who haven't checked in yet, a warrior and a scout (on the forums, at least).

I'm all about the efficiency, but if it suits you better to do the running instead of the battling than go ahead. I'm flexible! For me the running would take place at about the same time as your running event. So that doesn't matter.

I'm getting the feeling you would like to do the running. So i'll just wait out what your time will be.

Just trying to make things as easy for everyone as possible.

... a little odd in the head ...

Okay I am not the fastest running scout around so someone else wanting to run is cool with me.  I can go Scout or Monk.  In this scenario since I love stairs so do you want me as an archer or monk for melee (ooo swinging around a katana seems fun as does punching and kicking)?  Granted I am working on getting stronger 100 lbs of anything does not compute for me so as a warrior I would not be very helpful.  I just looked back at the links from the other thread.  It has been a few years but I did kenpo for a couple years and find the links you sent fun to do.

Food Fight - current challenge

Yeary Bug Count 0... if you are out and about then you are probably eating bugs. :onthego:

Agility: 1

Weapon: great maul

I'll do cable wood choppers to replicate the swing.

So who's going to be our messenger?  I'm going out of town Saturday morning, so if I'm not running (and it doesn't sound like I'm particularly fast), I'll need a time soon so I can help out before I leave.

Also, I won't be back until Wednesday night and will have minimal internet access, so I'll jump on whatever next week's challenge is then.

How long did your mile take?  We all have to fight until you get back with reinforcements and can't really start until we know how long that is.

Didn't have access to precision timing, but I was slightly faster than my previous pace of 182 meters per minute. Considering google says a mile is 1609 meters, that means my time was 1609/182=8.84 so a little under 9 minutes

Okay, so the rest of us have 8:50 of combat to handle.  I'm planning to go archer, but I don't think it makes a difference at this point.

Just do the steps first and then pulls, otherwise do the melee stuff.

30 mountain climbers (both legs to roughly equal stair climbing difficulty)

34 pullups @ 146# in 8:50

I'll be out of town with limited internet access until next wednesday, so I'll hop in then on whatever the new task is.
