Betaville... the first raid challenge.

Recommended Posts

Knocked out my 8:50 of one of the workouts you posted.  It was the Shadow Warrior one swinging around the katana.

80 vertical cuts

80 horizontal cuts

80 combo cross and upper cuts

79 combo horizontal + cross cuts

Took no rest breaks and the timer dinged before I could get the last combo in.  I did alternate 10 from left to right and then 10 from right to left.  If it matters going from right to left is the stronger attack (so right is my main hand).

Should have seen the look on the husbands face when I broke out our practice swords.

First post has been edited.... time to start walking, neighboring villages need your help.

If anyone has any extra feedback for the first challenge feel free to send it my way at this point.

Event 2: You watch as the dragon lets out a low rumbling growl, the enemy troops stop fighting and start running away, you celebrate this perceived victory. As you begin to survey your village grounds, you could hardly call this a victory.

The next morning word comes of an attack on a neighboring village, all you heard was the word dragon and already had your gear ready to go. You and your fellow troops gather in the courtyard and with a single command a stream of troops pour through the front gate, headed to assist their neighbors. [Everyone] (Walk 3 miles with 30 pounds of weight, feel free to carry your weapon with you.)

... a little odd in the head ...

This is going to be extra challenging with my weekly schedule, but as a Ranger I refuse to fail a rucking quest!

First time I have carried that much weight for so long.  I began to question my sanity but by 1.5 miles down I figured out ways to distribute the weight and I focused on getting it done.  So task completed in 59 minutes which shocked me entirely.

57min for me.

And some playtester feedback:

While rucking/hiking is an excellent fit for the story, it is not a beginner friendly activity.  Additionally, 30# is a lot to start (the RuckFit PVP recommends 5# for women and 10# for men and GoRuck says 30# is only for experienced ruckers) and without the proper equipment (pack with frame and belt) is an invitation for back injuries.  As such, I highly recommend reducing the weight or dropping it altogether for the next run through.

Good lord, thanks for that... I would have never imagined 30 pounds being "experienced"

Also, next week will test the "track down the rest of my raid" function... :-)

It was a lot of weight and I am glad I am not being whimpy but I was determined even if it meant doing it in short distances.  Still managed to do it all but I carried 15 outside my backpack and the other in my pack.  I had to look goofy walking down the street carrying a 15# dumbbell.

Luckilty for you two, the first couple events were one you couldn't wipe on, just kind of a "lets test the general mechanics" wipeable ones are coming though, since the next event isn't up yet, you can still do the current one.

(Hint... this one is wipeable :-)

Event 3: You arrive to see that you’re too late to be of any combat assistance. This village took a beating, multiple wall breeches, burned houses and bodies litter the ground. It’s humbling to know that this could have very easily been your village. You begin assisting in clean up, moving the bodies to a burial location outside the walls, helping rebuild the breeches, and clearing anything else that’s been damaged.

[Group]

To help repair a wall breech – Do 1 squat to hands extended, overhead or in front, motion (Clean and Jerk, Tire Flip, Kettlebells, burpees etc) 50 Reps is 1 wall rebuilt, there’s 5 breeches.

To help move a body – Move/Carry a 50 pound weight 30 feet, weight must be picked up, then put down to count if carrying, initial numbers put the body count at 150

Can we carry the weights or does it only count if we drag it?  I'm assuming it would have to be put down each lap to count, but I don't want to tear up my duffel dragging it through the dirt.

Can be carried... I was thinking weights in a gym, and yeah, I don't want you tearing anything up either. I'll change the wording.

Also... your class stats will start kicking in with this event.

Is it cool if I carry my 110 lb kiddo the 30 feet?  She loves it when she is a weight in my workout routine.  So that would count as 2 bodies if so?  Moving bodies and then helping with wall repair!

Monk Stats
Strength: 2
Speed:4
Agility:4

So do I subtract 2lbs for every 100?

It's two 50 pound weights so go for it and yes, in this case your original requirement would change to moving 49 pounds.

Okay, sorry I've been a bit absent lately guys, but I'm ready to pull my weight (literally in this next challenge apparently).

I'm on nightshift at the moment, so if everyone posts their numbers by Friday night Australian Central Daylight time, I'll do whatever's left on Saturday morning as a conditioning workout. Let me know what I've got to do guys and I'll ev happy to get it done!

So far I rebuilt one wall (50 of those crazy squats) and moved 10 bodies (490 lbs 30 ft....49 lbs 30ft 10 times).  Legs burn.

So did 150 BW squats with arms extended for CF tonight.  Not sure if that counts for wall building or not?

Also, are there any RP options?  For example, I'd like to pile bodies on the main road into town and soak them with oil in preparation for the next attack.  Solves the potential disease problem and intimidation factor on the invaders.

Make it as RP as you want... And there's no weight requirement for squats, so 150 is 3 walls...

Would there be any effect on the game?  I play tabletops more than MMOs, so I tend to like the more creative solutions.  That makes it harder on the DM to figure out the effects though.

In my example, something along the lines of "you have to move the bodies 50ft instead of 30ft, but can gain a time bonus (the attackers hesitate) if you light the pyre during the main battle" could work.  It really depends on how much you're willing to open this up to off-the-wall ideas. :playful:

Hmmm... Never DMed before but it has always sounded interesting.

So would it be you list the action and the intended effect and I would see how that affects the next event?
