Run today done. 53 minute 5k. So much walking because just so hot. I even pulled my shirt off at one point, first time all summer. 

 

And of course, as soon as I walked in my front door the sky clouded over and it started thundering. 

 

Thanks Texas. Blazing hot direct sun for run. Clouds for chilling indoors. Got it. 

 

But at least I hatched a Kabuto :P

I'm really working on telling myself that it's perfectly fine to be slow and walky in this heat. Once it cools down (relative terms for Texas) I will be SO FAST. :D

Can you run in the morning before it gets hot? Or is Texas just always hot? (I assume the latter, because Texas seems a little bit like hell (almost as bad as Florida)...no offense to Texas)

It's about 75F in the morning, and around 8 am rockets up to 80s and is in the 90s by 10 am. And that's not including the heat index.

 

Sure... go ahead and try getting me out of bed before 7 am, much less running by 8 :lol:

Food log!! 

  • 1 scoop protein, 8 oz milk, 1 cup frozen berries
  • venti iced americano with 3 pumps sugar-free mocha syrup
  • grapes
  • a big ol' salad with greek vinaigrette and chicken
  • 1 oz cheddar cheese
  • beef roast, sweet potatoes, asparagus, 2 tsp olive oil, 1 tbsp bbq sauce
  • mixed berry greek yogurt with chopped strawerries and sprinkles because pretty food
  • 2 mini chocolate dipped coconut macaroons

total: 1620 calories. Woot!

Is all this equipment in your house?! Daaaang, girl. That's commitment. 

No! There is a neighborhood "gym" that had a few machines and Dumbbells. Barbell stuff is at home. Then I take a short walk down the street to finish!

No workouts lately. So sore. Hate my abs. Wow.

 

Did a lot of meal prep today!

 

  • 5 mason jar salads
  • 6 spinach/egg/cheese breakfast sandwiches 
  • ~15 meals consisting of 4 oz (beef/chicken), 1/2 cup mashed (white potato/sweet potato), and 1 cup of (mixed veggies/broccoli). 

Feels good, man.

I first make egg cups: 1 bag frozen spinach (thawed and drained well), 12 eggs, 1 cup of cheese (mine was a mix of feta and mozzarella). Mix all together, divide into muffin tins. Bake at 350 about 30 minutes.

 

After they have cooled down a good bit but are still above room temperature I squish them firmly in an english muffin, wrap and freeze. Microwave like 90 seconds to reheat and eat. 

 

Mine are VERY spinach-y. But yummy. Just a warning. You could put anything you want in your egg cups, or look up other egg cup recipes, or just eat the egg cup without the english muffin for a low carb version.

Oh, i'm also going to do the opposite of a food log and instead make a food PLAN. because... reasons.

 

  • breakfast: toast, guacamole, 2 eggs over easy (yellow, blue,red)
  • lunch: salad with chicken! always! (3 green, red, orange)
  • dinner: beef with mashed potatoes and veggies! meal prep wooooo (red, yellow, green)

which means snacks need to be: 3 fruits, 1 protein, 1 carb, 4 tsp oil

  • protein shake with frozen fruit (red, purple)
  • french macaron i'll save for dessert so I can share with fiance who needs an appropriately DOTA-y code name (yellow)
  • grapes (purple)
  • watermelon (purple)
  • spoonful of almond butter (all the oil)

BOOM. done. EZPZ!

 

also, dear me. please make a shopping list and go shopping. Thanks. you're the best.

Crossfit take 2!! 8/10/16

 

warmup:

3 rounds of 

  • 15 good mornings (45#)
  • 5 banded one arm press (whatever the wimpiest band was)
  • 30 jumping jacks

skill: 

  • 2 rope climbs (standing>laying>standing) EMOM 10 mins

WOD:

  • 15/12/9 muscle snatch (30#)
  • 3/2/1 rope climbs (standing>laying>standing) --> my thumbs lost a lot of skin today. pour out some pwo in remembrance. RIP.

cooldown:

  • band lat stretch 2 mins each side
  • barbell quad rolling 2 mins each side --> found a huuuuuuge knot in my left quad. I should work on that more today.

I looked like I was dumped in a lake when I was done. 

 

Good news is I was home and out of the shower by 6:10, which means I should definitely be able to do 5:00 am workouts and still make it to work well before 7:00. Yayyyyyyy. 

 

So the only thing that will hold me back there is fatigue, which is yet to be seen during the school year. Here we go!!

Skill

  • EMOM 5 minutes
    • 2 hang snatches (35#)
    • 2 OHS (35#)

WOD

  • 20-15-10 for time (12:20)
    • OHS
    • hang snatch
    • hanging leg raises
      • Note: I did the first round with the 35# bar. I am weak with hanging work, so after the first round of leg raises, I couldn't stabilize my shoulders overhead. I kept dropping and falling over on the OHS, so I got pissed off and finished the workout with a pvc pipe.

I actually have a lot of shoulder mobility! I don't have a lot of strength or stability though :(
