Traxex Turns 30

Today is my 30th birthday. :cupcake:

 

Pretty good day to start a log right? 

 

I've been lifting on/off for 3.5 years now. I'm currently on, and I'm currently getting really close to my all-time PRs, which are not impressive. But I'm a ranger... so. You know. World records aren't the goal here. Just being "not your typical 30 year old woman." (if I say that enough, maybe it will start to sound normal.)

 

If you were curious, my 1RMs are: 

Bench: 105 pounds

Squat: 175 pounds

Deadlift: 205 pounds

OHP: 80 pounds

(at a 155 pound bodyweight, for context)

 

I'm also in the middle of week 7 of Zombies5K. Which means only 1.5 weeks until I've graduated that and am apparently a 5K runner. Apparently. 

 

The scheduled workout today is W7D2 of Z5K.

 

Basically, I've never been able to stick to anything I've started. So maybe this will help.

 

Sucks that I showed up in the middle of a challenge. But I'm a firm believer in jumping in where we are.

Comments: This was *supposed* to be 60# 3x8. Not even close. I blame everything above. Also OHP is the devil. 

 

Notes: Scale is ticking upwards after the birthday festivities. Gotta get that back in check. 
 

Now I'm going to go curl up with some hot tea and watch some Netflix.

Preface/disclaimer: I actually reverse engineered the beach body program "21 day fix" and use it instead of calorie counting. I've set it up to where I eat around 1500-1700 calories a day, 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein with no calorie or macro counting. Works for me! I meavn... it's portion control. If you have questions or want help setting up your own system, let me know. 

 

Food log: 

 

6/26

 

  • banana egg pancakes (2 purple, 1 red)
  • 1 peach (1 purple)
  • salad with greek yogurt dressing (2 green, 1/2 orange)
  • greek yogurt (1 red)
  • half a muffin leftover from my birthday cheat day (1 yellow)
  • beef pot roast, barbecue sauce, mashed potatoes, broccoli (1 red, 1/2 orange, 1 yellow, 1 green)
  • broccoli with cheese (1 green, 1 blue)
  • protein shake with milk (1 red, 1 yellow)
     

6/27

 

  • 1 flour tortilla, 2 eggs, 1 oz cheese, sriracha, green onions (1 yellow, 1 red, 1 blue)
  • 1 peach (1 purple)
  • salad with spinach, kale, carrots, tomatoes, greek yogurt dressing (3 green, 1/5 orange)
  • Greek yogurt with strawberries (1 red, 1 purple)
  • 1 hamburger patty (1 red)
  • 2 corn tortillas, grilled chicken, tomatoes, green onion, salsa, small sprinkle of cheese (1 yellow, 1 red, 1/2 green, 1/2 orange)
  • 4 oz red wine (1 yellow)

6/28!! Hello Tuesday! 

 

Workout: nope. My morning was very frustrating and emotionally charged and I just could not get with the program today. I need to meditate more. It's a thing I keep saying I'm going to do and I keep not doing it. I'm not sure why.

 

Food log: 

  • Greek yogurt and grapes (1 red, 1 purple)
  • Salad with greek yogurt dressing, a burger patty, and cheese (3 green, .5 orange, 1 red, 1 blue)
  • Chocolate protein powder, 1 cup 2% milk, 1/2 cup cold brew concentrate (1 red, 1 yellow)
  • 1 cup cherries (1 purple)
  • 1 small apple, peanut butter (1 purple, 3 tsp)
  • Burger patty, bun, ketchup, mustard, spinach, tomato (1 red, 1 yellow, 1/2 orange)
  • rest of the tomato from dinner with some salt, pepper, and balsamic (1/2 green)
  • 4 oz wine (1 yellow)

Still have half a vegetable serving to eat.... I'll just nom on some carrots later if I need to snack.

There is an app called "headspace" that offers free, guided meditations. Youtube has a lot of guided meditations too. I find it a lot easier to use a guided meditation than to just wing it myself. It also helps me to pick a set time to do the meditation each day so I can build a habit of it.

I actually have a paid headspace subscription!! I am just out of the habit and now not only frazzle-brained but wasting money ;)

 

It really is a great app though! 

 

I'm also a huuuuuuge fan of http://www.meditationoasis.com/ and all their apps. Most of them are one-time paid, but the iSleep Easy and Simply Being apps were my best friends in the worst of my depression. And they have some interesting themed guided meditations in their podcasts.

I'm not actually doing SL! It's a variant of GZCL programming. I did do SL back in 2013 though. Then in 2014 I switched over to Ice Cream Fitness (and my biceps looked SO GOOD), then 5/3/1... and then I quit lifting. So I'm back at it again. Starting from the bar. Le sigh.

Foooooooooood 6/29

  • Breakfast: protein shake with milk and cold brew (1 red, 1 yellow)
  • Cherries (1 purple)
  • Lunch: 2 corn tortillas, grilled chicken, 28g cheese, 2 tbsp salsa (1 yellow, 1 red, 1 blue)
  • Baby carrots with 1 tbsp greek yogurt dressing (1 green, 1/2 orange)
  • Grapes (1 purple)
  • Apple with peanut butter (1 purple, 3 tsp)
  • Crustless quiche with spinach, kale, tomato, potato (1 red, 1 green, 1 yellow, 1 tsp)
  • Baby carrots with 1 tbsp greek yogurt dressing (1 green, 1/2 orange)
  • Greek yogurt (1 red)

Run today: 3.2 miles in 51:35. Zombies 5k W7D3

 

Week 8 is next and one week from today will be my first nonstop 5k in a couple years. W00T

 

Rants and Raves:

 

Rants: 

  • My bluetooth headphones must have wiggled off the charger because they died within the first two minutes of my run and I had to pause the app and walk back home to get wire headphones.
  • I had to stop 3 times to adjust the wires and I basically had to run with my hands over my ears for all I had to keep pushing them back into my ears.
  • (sorry gentlemen) I felt my tampon spring a leak about 1/3 into the run.
  • I got some serious cottonmouth and my whole mouth had this sickly sweet diet Dr. Pepper taste, because I drank one like 30 minutes before running.
  • I had to stop and walk several times when I usually don't need to.
  • A non-problem if there ever was one, but I've lost 7 pounds in the last 7 weeks and my compression shorts are no longer snug, so they ride up and I get chub rub.
  • The sun was right at eye level so it kept beaming right into my face and that was really discouraging.
  • I have DOMS in my quads *and* hamstrings. And my abductors were super tight. And for some stupid reason my pectoral DOMS gave me weird chest pain while running.
  • Its 105F/41C outside and that sucked

Raves:

  • I went out running in 105F heat when I didn't want to because I'm a dedicated badass
  • I lost 7 pounds in 7 weeks -- again, dedicated badass!
  • My tampon didn't actually leak. Just felt like it.
  • This song came on and got a few extra minutes of running out of me:

Food Log -- didn't follow the plan today. Oh well. Came in at the right calories: 

  • protein shake with milk and cold brew coffee
  • grapes
  • cherries
  • iced coffee with chocolate milk and sugar free caramel syrup -- homemade starbucks basically
  • leftover chicken and beef roast, broccoli, small potato, stir fry sauce
  • 2 Dr. Pepper 10s
  • hamburger on a bun with cheese, ketchup, mustard, and pickled mild peppers
  • an extra hamburger bun bc I was craving carbs
  • Protein chocolate lava cakes for two -- makes 4 little cakes in a regular muffin tin. I made some substitutions (I don't keep coconut sugar or coconut milk on hand, so I used regular sugar and regular milk) and it came out to 333 calories per 1/2 recipe. OMG hit the spot. 

Because I didn't stick to 21df today, I chugged everything in MFP. 1673 calories 136p/162c/55f. Niiiiiiiiice.
