Well, let's see now ..

Recommended Posts

Hey, Rebels!

I stumbled upon NF recently and I must say I love it. I am not going into a long introduction with a story and a challenge and stuff, because that's for a different place on the site..

I'm going to outline my basic understanding of the rules and my plan here. Any corrections and/or encouragement is welcome :)

In the upcoming days:

1. I will write my "story" here on my character sheet https://www.nerdfitness.com/character/107930

I already have some quests over there - some of them are probably too complex and I should've broken them up, but ..oh well  .. I shall learn the hard way .. :P

2. I will pick a guild and complete a LVL1 4week challenge. I will not cheat by including my already completed quests into that challenge - I will start and complete the quest properly :)

(Monks FTW, BTW.. oh, and I want to multiclass to Monk / Druid as time goes by .. Actually, right now I just need to wake up my body with basic bodyweight training - after I feel a bit more confident, I will start lifting stuff to lose fat and build muscle - and around that time I will go see my EBMAS Sifu after what has been a prettty loooong radio silence and I'll try to pak sau his man sau.. :D )

Q: If I understand this correctly, I have to complete a 4 week LVL 1 challenge to be admitted into a guild, is that right? But I can start my thread in that guild's forum, can't I?

Or do I automatically start as a Rebel (in their sub-forum of the challenge) and then after completing LVL1 I move to the Monks' sub-forum .. ? This is a bit unclear to me at the moment...

3. I will capitalize on this momentum and probably start seeing a difference, which will motivate me further

(Actually, I already feel different and it's just been a week of improved eating and more sweating and panting due to Steve's "Beginner" (!!!) bodyweight training .. :D ) I still suck at sleeping, though.. It's 2:35 a.m. over here and I am in bed surrounded by gadgets, writing this on my laptop and mentally kicking my own ass for it .. Hey, at least my blinds are down .. :P

4. I will explore different ways of improving myself

Stuff like tai chi, yoga, meditation, ninjutsu, chi kung / qi gong - whatever the spelling is :D, possibly parkour after I reach a sufficient level of fitness ... anyway, I imagine I will write more on these in my profile or put them in my epic quest progression .. This post is getting  too long and straying from the original intention :P   ... Oh, and let's not forget forex & futures trading --> so that I can quit my job --> so that I will have time to do all of these things properly and consistently in the first place :D :D:D

To sum up, I am glad to be here and looking forward to leveling up with you guys :)

Now show me your love, people ! :D:D

yours sleepily,

Tibor

I am not sure how the Monks do things (different guilds handle some things differently).  I can, however, tell you how it works with my guild, the Rangers.

Choosing to be a Ranger is as simple as saying you want to.  You go to your profile and select Rangers as your guild.

You then come over and introduce yourself.

It is recommended that a first quest is done as a Rebel for several reasons.

First, you will be surrounded by many other newcomers so it is likely that a number of you will have similiar questions and be in similiar places in your quests.

Second, it allows you to learn your way around the forums a little better while you explore the different guilds and decide where you wish to go.

It is NOT required by the Rangers (although some guilds might) that you do your first challenge as a Rebel.  If you want to post your first challenge in with the Rangers, you are more than welcome to do so.  In fact, I believe we have several new Rangers this challenge who put their very first challenge up in the guild skipping the Rebels completely.  We also have several who are definitely Rangers but decided to do their first challenge as a Rebel anyway.  They are still active in our guild and display our guild under their name, but chose to post their first challenge in the Rebels before moving into a guild challenge.

Hope this clears this up a little for you.  As I said, the Monks may handle things differently and insist on your first challenge being with Rebels.  As I have had little to do with the Monks guild personally I can not speak for them.

Thanks for the info, it definitely put some things into perspective :) I just directly messaged the Monks leader and asked him about it, just to be sure about the way they handle this.

Take care and I will see you around the forums ;)

Well. Actually. You do have to fight ninjas before we let you join.

We send them to your house. In a box.

It's a big box.

But if you beat them, then yeah, dude, you come on in and introduce yourself!
