    • The tomatoes are in the windowsill and the rest are in a closet in the backyard covered with hard plastic against the frost. I’m actually hoping we can get a proper tiny greenhouse for the backyard this year. I’d love more space for starting seeds and maybe grow some big tomatoes in the summer (our summers aren’t quite warm/long/dry enough for bigger tomatoes).
    • How does that work?  Is it a live stream, a Zoom broadcast or something completely different?
    • I have muscle aches all over lol.   Cleaned last weekend, moved a lot yesterday.   Didn't manage to fit everything I wanted to in my friend's car☺️   I'll see how much I can lug over by public transport today. No car rental places open on Sunday haha.    There is a service that could help me out but I'm not suuuper trustful of it.   But if I can't move everything tomorrow I'll have to check it out 🤷‍♀️  Don't really feel confident enough to drive with the current stressors etc.   Also had an Ikea run. Now I have More of my Own Things. Holy shit it's wonderful.   It's... I've always said I am not about possesisons but I never realized how I never felt like ANY of my stuff was MY stuff with my family around.   Had my first night in my new place. Feels absolutely blissful.   Despite the neighbour(s) being talkative on a loudish volume and the TV being loud from straight early in the morning.   Taking note to talk with the first floor neighbour in any case (no upper ones)   And getting good-ish speakers moves up on my priority list to be able to listen to sound without straining my ears too much. (it tires your brain out to process certain quality more)
    • They definitely were NOT playing that music, but they absolutely SHOULD have!   This makes way too much sense not to be correct     ---------------------------------------------   Yesterday evening our church had a conference that I attended and traffic on the way there was terrible.  However, it did lead me to seeing two things I have not seen for a very long time and so my story is going to be talking about those 2 things.   The first thing I saw was a blue Ford F150 pickup truck.  The color nor specific model of the truck were the relevant parts of that.  I just have not seen a pickup truck here for probably more than a decade.  The reason for that is because pickup trucks are illegal here.  They were outlawed shortly before I arrived here because they were being used to steal bicycles.  Bike racks are not really a thing here, so people would just park their bike and  put a chain through the wheel.  That made it very difficult to ride or push away, but the thieves would cruise around town looking for valuable bikes and then just toss them in the back ad drive off, dealing with the pesky locks at their lair or wherever they did those things.  Given this was back in the days when bikes were actually valuable before the entire county got literally flooded with rental bikes So even though the reason for the ban is now anachronistic, the ban has never been repealed and so it is illegal to own a pickup in Beijing, and trucks with out of city plates are not allowed inside the 5th ring (The city proper current outer limits).  The truck I saw yesterday was unregistered (no plates at all) and I have no idea what it was doing in the city, but it was certainly something worth noting on Mulberry Street   The second thing I saw that was worth noting, at least for me was the sun as it set on the horizon.  This is unusual for a couple of reasons.  First, living in a big city surrounded by miles and miles of skyscrapers is that one very rarely ever sees the horizon.  Usually your best bet is to see the sun going down behind some buildings off in the distance.  The only chance you have for seeing the horizon is when you have a very long, very straight road , and there are very few of those in a city as old as Beijing.  The other reason this was unusual is because the city here usually has pretty bad pollution.  When the sun is directly overhead, the rays tend to shine through strongly enough, but when it gets lower the amount of pollution it has to get through at those lower angles multiplies significantly.  Usually the sun is just and indistinct blob by the time it starts to get low enough to fall behind the city skyline.  So yesterday I just happened to be stick in traffic on a very long street and the windstorm yesterday morning blew out all of the pollution so I got a rare glimpse of the sun setting on the horizon.
    • I innocently walked into this guest house because I was told one of the people staying there wanted to talk to me, and then there was this embarrassingly high-pitched fangirl moment. 😂
    • I think I have mentioned once or twice that I enjoy playing an MMO called Lord of the Rings Online. Husband frequently teases me that LOTRO is the nerdiest of all nerdy games ever made for nerds, by nerds. Looking at this screenshot, capturing a dwarf boasting of how he won a drinking competition against a group of hobbits, I can't really argue with that assessment...
    • How does blowing balloons help with your back? It's been a while since I tried to blow up a balloon. I used to be horrible at it. Now, I'm wondering if it would be easier since my fitness has improved.
    • Friday - 6/6 goals met. Calories from sweets 80!   I slept horribly and woke up coughing in the middle of the night. I didn't see how I was ever going to get back to sleep and I felt like I might rupture something with my coughs so I took some Nyquil. I know it's a bad idea to take it in the middle of the night but I was desperate. I took half a dose. I was able to get to sleep but then I was a zombie when the alarm went off. I texted my boss asking to use PTO for a late start. Luckily she didn't seem to mind. I felt much better after a couple extra hours of sleep and felt decent the rest of the day.    Skipping breakfast was easy enough. I slept through it. 2 pieces of chocolate after lunch were all the sweets I had.  We didn't have anything at home that was a small taste so I didn't bother.    I did do my tidying task and a workout when I got home. I put together a leg day BW workout and went to the basement to use the space there. Before I started I found a few things to purge and a few things to put away.  Then did the workout.     It was pizza day. We had Totinos. They are the perfect size and there's no going over your portion.     The workout
    • Also: my knee is hurting, darn. I have a chronic but mild knee injury that has the main function of hurting more and making me concerned when I do various kinds of exercise, and the only thing that usually helps (besides not doing exercise, which probably only helps in the short term) is taking my supplements*, especially borage oil. Usually, whenever I do habit stuff, taking my supplements is at the top of that list, but I deliberately didn't include it in this list because it's definitely not fun. I mean...it's fine, I just have major resistance for some reason.  So, I'm adding goal 5: take my supplements twice a day – but only borage oil and vitamin D (because I know I'm deficient and it's hard for me to get enough sun, especially when the weather isn't great). Unfortunately, making it less annoying is as close to fun as I think I can make that one.   *Actually, these two things aren't entirely the only things that help, I've also switched to barefoot shoes and spent a lot of time thinking about foot and knee alignment...but supplements are probably the only thing I know of that I'm not already doing and that seems like it should be a simple matter of deciding to do it.
    • Yep, that's how I felt, I knew it wasn't reasonable. The things that helped the most were prayer and walking
