  1. Ok Vancouver peeps we should get together, try and build some of that local community spirit. Anyone down for some indoor climbing at The Hive, followed by drinks at The Stormcrow Tavern?
  2. http://instagram.com/p/fErQnUIT9o/# Gymbro got pics, wish he'd gotten a shot of me at the bottom of the squat, but he assured me it was below parallel. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I weighed in at 155lbs. tonight, major PR for me tonight, physically wiped but that much closer to a 2x bodyweight squat for reps. YYYEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
  3. Ooooh,I frequent thrift stores in search of awesome gym shirts! This one was a bit hit last week; http://instagram.com/p/epvXXyIT8y/# This one too; http://instagram.com/p/c8EjqgoT81/#
  4. I guess you could say I'm into retro games I love these old games, and love playing them on the original hardware through a CRT.
  5. I'll be the first to admit I'm not much of an outdoorsey person come fall, but I'd be down for a hike before it gets too cold. Some other ideas; indoor climbing/bouldering, swimming, gym meetup?
  6. Think of your body fat stores as a kind of built in energy buffer, it's not as readily avaliable as glucose or medium chain tryglycerides, but it's there and moreso if you're ketogenic. When I first started lifting I was at about 165lbs, 30+% body fat, and went from empty bar to a 315 lb. deadlift, 265lb squat, and 160lb bench before my body fat bottomed out (at 150lbs), then suddenly all progress not only stopped, but started to backslide. Mind you I wasn't eating a huge deficit, just super super clean (like 95/5) low carb paleo. You can definitely gain a ton of strength on a slight deficit while dramatically lowering your bodyfat.
  7. Missed the boat on this thread! Summer is winding down and the rains have come, but if anyone wants to meet up I have pretty much every weekend open. Would be cool to meet some likeminded people in town.
  8. Been a couple years since I posted; figured it'd be better to ressurect my old introduction than to start a new topic. So since I originally posted, I've mostly kept the weight off, through dieting (80/20 paleo) and bouts of training. I've dealt with a couple major setbacks from injuries; a bad rotator cuff from dodgeball, and a lower back injury that kept me from any serious training for a year (I still trained, but not as heavy, and not as frequently). Anyhow, fast forward to June 2013. Off the wagon again, but hit with a major bout of motivation (breakup). Started hitting the barbells harder than I have in a long time, body fat dropped back down to minimal levels, accompanied by the usual stall in progress. Started eating a LOT more, and by August my strength was back up to where it was pre-injury, without any real fat gain; and now I'm powering through and making gains in the big 3 every week! Bench, squat, and deadlift are all better than they've ever been. Currently my 3x5 Squat is 285, 3x5 Bench is 185; deadlift is lagging a little behind with my 5x1 sitting at 350lbs, but it's improving every week by leaps and bounds. Anyhow, figured I'd check back in and point out that the the wagon won't leave you behind, if you fall off, just hop right back on. Once you learn how your body deals with different types of food, and training regimes; you're never more than a couple months away from a better version of yourself!
  9. My gym is pretty close to the office, on my lifting days I'll usually show up around 8:30, put in a couple hours, pop over to the gym for an hour and a half then head back to work. They're cool about it, I don't take lunches or coffee breaks, so it works out well. I like my gym, most of their revenue comes from personal training and there are only a handful of members; everyone is really cool too.
  10. If you do try GOMAD, prepare for epic farts. I got up to about 1/3rd of a gallon of whole milk a day and I couldn't live with myself, I can't even imagine what a gallon would do to my intestines.
  11. It's honestly not a problem with the game itself, SC2 is already a highly polished product, which I've come to expect from Blizzard. I just can't be bothered to play a game where I am so hopelessly outmatched that my only possible chance of winning a match is if I luck out in a 3v3 and have 2 strong allies. I mean sure I could watch replays and study build orders, and look over the guides, but I am past that phase in my life; too many hobbies and I'm lucky if i can dedicate 4 hours a week to gaming and I'd rather spend it with more pick-up-and-play friendly games. Super stoked for campaign mode though. SC1's campaign was hands down the best RTS game I've ever played. I don't think anything has ever really come close.
  12. Pretty much the same problem here, I'm a pretty casual gamer these days, the other players in the beta test aren't; which makes it incredibly un-fun at the moment. I'm hoping once it gets released that the ladder system actually works to match skill levels, because I would hate to see this end up like SC1.
