  1. That sounds impossibly familiar, do we know each other? Lately we've had more time spent on Guild Wars 2, and DotA 2 since we can get all our friends that are scattered 'round the country involved, but it can't quite match up to a really good tabletop sometimes. *whistles innocently*
  2. Tell me about it. I've done a little with that system and was pretty pleased by it overall. I definitely know what you mean about getting a group together, and even more trying to get them to use a new system. You're sticking to your goals really well it seems. I'm especially impressed at your sleep goals, especially with a newborn.
  3. Last few days have been spotty, I didn't make it to the gym over the weekend--we were sitting around at home being lazy and relaxed--but I ate pretty well, and was in fact quite relaxed, so I'm okay with it. Also I plan to take this week right in the teeth, so bring it...
  4. Just found your thread today, and I have to say, you are kicking ass and taking names here!
  5. Did legs last night. I took it a little easier on squats, only going up to 135, but went down as deep as I could and just paid attention to form. I was pretty pleased with how well I managed it, but I'm sure there is room to improve. I may see about bringing a camera next week sometime and having Eilyd take some videos for me to review. Deadlifts I pushed myself, and got a full set of 5 at 205# I'm quite pleased about that. Then we got home and made burgers with bacon, lots of spices, and 2lbs of beef. There were only three of us eating, and we used all of it. .7 lb mostly paleo burgers make us very happy.
  6. Dresden Files is amazing, excellent choice of reading material. Have you read any of his other series?
  7. Awesome! Tis a shame about the sword though...
  8. Because mac&cheese is magically and maliciously delicious! So glad to see you rocking this challenge
  9. Ouch, prayers for your poor finger there Vixen But at the same time, props to you for being awesome and carrying on anyway!
  10. Awesome job so far Erick, you've had a bunch of roadblocks in your challenge so far and you've been handling them really well!
  11. Rather shockingly, I didn't have any DOMS yesterday, and I woke up feeling pretty great this morning too. Stretched, helped my wife make food, now I'm drinking coffee and packing lunches. So far so good today, here's hoping I actually get my monthly call assignments at work today so I can get something done...
  12. More or less, it was mostly just to see if I could. Honestly I think I could have gone for more, but I didn't have a spotter and had the rest of my workout to go, so I didn't want to risk anything.
  13. I will not be able to reach the gym tomorrow because Eilyd will have the car to attend her yoga class, so I just went ahead and did a full workout routine tonight. I got my licks in. Deadlifts: 95 5x, 135 5x, 185 5x3, 205 1x Bench Press: 95 5x, 135 5x2 Squats: 115 5x, 135 5x, 185 5x3 And finished off with 10 pullups because I'm one of those freaks who thinks they're enjoyable. I feel awesome, also like a puddle of jello barely holding cohesion. I'm going to have DOMS of Doom tomorrow, but for now I'm willing to live with that.
  14. Update for week 3 I did really well all week, this past weekend was kind of a by, as it was Homecoming weekend at our college; Eilyd and I went back and spent Saturday hanging out with old friends and generally having a great time, but not having a lot of time or ability to get in a solid workout--we did walk around a lot though. Yesterday we went to the Pittsburgh Symphony and listened to the Carmina Burana, which was amazing; but again made the day a bit crammed and getting in a full workout was non-viable. Back at work today, and doing my best to actually get something accomplished--usually the first few weeks of the month involve me twiddling my thumbs a lot. Tonight I will actually get to the gym and get my leg day in, not to mention make a solid meal, they have been somewhat lacking over the weekend.
  15. Definitely a bright side to not going in to work. Working out fasted is definitely something that your body takes time to get used to. I've been doing intermittent fasting and skipping breakfast, and it took a good few weeks before I felt like I had energy in the morning. My body was trying to just coast on through until I gave it something to eat. It has gotten a bit better now, but I also haven't been regularly lifting in the morning, so I'm not sure how I'd feel about that now.
  16. Hopefully you got to catch up on sleep over the weekend. How are things going now?
  17. Nicely done Turbo, and sleep > Gym when push comes to shove. Because it usually isn't too difficult to make up a workout, but catching up on sleep is next to impossible most of the time
  18. The coming forward too much definitely. One thing you might pay attention to is your ankles, you don't really want them to move that much. Ideally your knees should not go very far over your toes, your butt just sticks way out. Overall your form isn't bad, but you look like you're sort of slumping forward with the weight at the bottom and not entirely correcting until you are back at the top on several reps. Mostly it looks like you're trying to lean forward a bit to keep your balance, which is a tricky thing to beat.
  19. This is pretty much it. Thankfully my job isn't being directly hit by the shutdown, but we are getting a lot of collateral damage as it were. Hang in there, hopefully one way or another it will get better.
