  1. I'm pretty jealous of you right now. I haven't been out of the country in almost two years, and that is very different for me. For 4-5 years, I missed my one friend's birthday every year because I was never in the country. Also, tango sounds pretty awesome. I ridiculously uncoordinated when I don't have a plank of wood strapped to my feet.
  2. I have a Pinterest board filled with ab workouts (http://pinterest.com/bkeller87/win-the-bet/), so I've been doing a different one everyday so far trying to find one that I like/can actually feel in my core. Thanks for the Paleo suggestions. Its been hard, especially this past week because its been so cold (-13 when I left for work Saturday), and when its that cold, I want something hot for lunch.
  3. Week 1 full update: 1. Six pack bet -- I've been really good with my workouts this week. The only one I didn't do at the right time was yesterday's. I wasn't feeling so hot and skipped it last night, but plugged it in this morning so I didn't fully skip it. I am already starting to feel more definition, just gotta get it showing through now. 2. Boardslide and 180 -- my roommate is landing an Indie grab pretty consistently off the jump, and I am finally consistently landing the jump. I'm also not so afraid of the standard 50/50 on the box anymore. We planned to do a bunch of laps in the park yesterday, but negative degree temperatures (and minor hangovers) prevented it. It was so cold that my Gatorade froze before I had time to drink half of it. 3. 140lbs -- I started the challenge at about 145.5, and I'm down to 144 as of this morning. The Paleo portion is probably going the least well of my goals, it's really hard for me to find Paleo things to bring to work when I don't have a microwave. 4. So I've decided that since I know the pros and cons of real vs funemployment, I'm going to apply to both. The biggest pro to real employment is that I can pay off all my debt faster and maybe even accumulate some savings. The biggest con is that I'll probably hate it for however long I do it. For funemployment, the payoff is slower, but my quality of life is much higher. So I'm going to apply to each type 1:1, i.e. for each funemployment application I submit, I have to put in one for a real job as well. My bf is giving my resume to one of his coworkers who used to be a headhunter, so we'll see if anything comes of that. Now back to the mountain...its a bit warmer today so maybe I'll last through an entire lesson!
  4. Hey guys! Hope everyone is kicking butt so far! My challenge is here. I'll be trying out boardslides, hitting boxes and jumps in the terrain park tomorrow! Wish me luck!
  5. Tomorrow is my Friday! I work a shifted week where I get Monday and Tuesday off. Did my ab workout today, getting ready to hit some boxes tomorrow...woot!
  6. So here are some pictures of my starting points. First one is where my six-pack stands right now, a tiny bit of definition but still a little bit of a pooch that needs to go (it doesn't help that I'm wearing my compression shorts either!). Second one is me doing a 50/50 slide on the box. I don't have any pictures of me in the air off the jump because I've been eating shit off of it recently. Loser buys dinner at the nicest restaurant on the mountain ($100/person, 4 courses) I will definitely try to get video of it...I need documented proof of my badassery! Things have been pretty great. I just finished my second complete ab workout, and my arms are dead from bumping chairs all day. Plus it is dumping snow on the mountain, so maybe we'll finally have a powder day tomorrow or Saturday.
  7. Running in squishy-ness and/or bad weather sucks. Until you get used to it. And getting rid of the pitbull probably helps alot! Keep with it, it's going to be awesome to see how far you can go at the end of six weeks. Can't wait to see you flying!
  8. I'm excited to see where you end up. Just read through all your posts and must say that you do have an awesome view! I tried the cows face pose too, I used to be able to reach both directions very recently, but I think since I started bumping chairs (major shoulder and core work) at the ski resort, my muscles have gotten tighter. Guess I really need to add in some stretching. Best of luck! Go get 'em!
  9. I failed pretty epicly in the last challenge I participated in. I did manage to lose a bit of weight, but everything else went out the window when I moved. Now I'm settled again so I figure its time to get back at it. I have the added bonus of an expensive bet with mmustard to keep me motivated. 1. Win the bet with mmustard, which involves having a better six-pack than him when he comes to visit for his birthday at the end of February. This is slightly outside the timeline of the challenge, and not very measurable while its happening so my actual, measurable, realistic goal is do a core/ab workout at least 3 nights/week. 2. Learn to do a 180 grab off a jump and boardslide on a box in the terrain park on my snowboard. We're not allowed in the park on days we're working, but I plan to make as many laps there on my off days as possible. Plus I have some park rat friends who are willing to coach me on their off days too. 3. Get down to 140lbs. Its hard for me to be Paleo on the mountain because most of my lunches get eaten cold, but I want to adjust my breakfasts and dinners to be as close to Paleo as I can. If I can do that, and keep challenging myself with new terrain, my metabolism should be kicking! 4. Life goal: Figure out what I am going to do when the ski season ends. I need to decide if I am going to try and get a real job or stay in funemployment. I know the pros and cons of both, I just haven't forced myself to make a decision.
  10. P.S. Thanks Elastigirl! I definitely can't afford to lose that one!
  11. Getting down to the wire with everything. Definitely not going to make my sales goal with ParacordPromos, but that's okay because hopefully we will have a major order coming our way very soon. Still trying to write a strong cold email (if there is such a thing), but not getting much to work from as only 3 people have responded to any of them. Tomorrow is packing and potluck, Friday climbing, Saturday bachelorette, Sunday driving, Monday Roswell, then Vegas, and Telluride on the 12th! So excited you have no idea!
  12. Have definitely moved my cheat day to Saturday now. Makes more sense now that I'm not working for the rest of the challenge. Also started a six-pack side bet with mmustard. When he comes to visit me we will compare abs, loser treats winner to dinner at Alpino Vino ($100+/pp). Hopped on the elliptical today for about 40 minutes. And my body always craves veggies (and taco bell) after a night of drinking so that is on my list for the day. Finally got my contact list completed for ParacordPromos. Just gotta start emailing now!
  13. climbing today! woo, so much better when you aren't hung over. Solid 5.8 day, hope to go a few more times before heading to the mountains. Need to kill a 5.9 and 5.10 still. Happy Halloween!
  14. so I just joined the 4Hour Body DietBet in the hopes that the thought of losing $50 I don't have will get me back on track with my Paleo diet. It started today and runs for 28 days, so it will outlast this challenge and hopefully get me moving in the right direction more permanently. Now back to my body weight exercises!
  15. so apparently my update from earlier today didn't post...no matter...I finished my 5k goal! 34:43 woo! on a less happy note, I realized that I've been stagnant on my life goal for a bit now. We've been waiting a couple of weeks to get a list of contacts through an Elancer. Well, they still haven't completed the project and we haven't been hustling because we've been waiting for them. I have to take my new car back to the shop tomorrow, but other than that, I plan on dedicating tomorrow to sending out emails to contacts I already have. Goal is 5 emails tomorrow.
  16. That sucks about your toe! I know how that goes, though I must say I've never broken my big toe. The little ones on my right foot are completely mangled from playing soccer for so long. On the other hand, this should give you great incentive to really pump out your other goals!
  17. So after a weekend of debauchery and shennanigans I am back to my regularly scheduled programming. Ran today...2.5 miles in 24 minutes yay! Have to get back to the clean eating though, I've fallen off that wagon a little bit. The weekend was pretty good for working out, got on the wall twice, but I absolutely didn't care how I was eating.
  18. roll call time! my line got deleted completely, so everyone might want to check that theirs is still on the sheet. added mine back in plus another 800 jumps.
  19. Running today +1400 jumps for the mini challenge. Had Wendy's for lunch today because I was out car shopping...almost made me sick...nice to know I've kicked the fast food habit again. Happened last winter too, because the closest fast food to Telluride is ~45 minutes away in Ridgeway.
  20. I got mine from Target. I think it was about $10. Its green, stretchy, and can be cut to the right length.
  21. 3-time middle school jump rope champion! Waaaay back in the day, I think my total for continuous jumping without messing up was over 1000. I'm so in.
  22. Family functions always mess with me! Donuts, ice cream, cupcakes, my family are sugar *****s! Plus I love me a good craft brew, so I feel your pain! Keep up the good work. mmustard5 is working on getting down to a similar weight. He's about 6ft as well and has already lost nearly 20 lbs on Slow-Carb ala 4 Hour Body. He called me today to let me know that he had a big problem: his belt and pants were so big that he needed to go buy new ones. He followed it up by saying that its a problem he loves to have!
  23. Keep it up dude! And nice job on the climbing! I'm so pumped to get back on the wall this weekend, I can't wait until I feel good enough about my skills to climb outside. Glad to see that the pain in your calf is gone. Always sucks when you set out to do something and your body kinda freaks out in a "what are you doing to me?!?" kind of way. I had issues with my quads when I was running the triathlons a few months ago. 3+ miles running and I'd start feeling this popping around my knee. Very scary when you've been an athlete all your life and never felt something like that before! Good luck and keep up the good work!
  24. Thanks guys! I'm trying! RW, It should be the same rating system. Most places in the US use the same one. I'm excited to get back on the wall this weekend. Going up to Atlanta for my birthday! I've done a few 5.9s but not in a couple months since I was at a wall on a consistent basis. Hoping to get two wall workouts in on Friday and Sunday. Completed the mobility challenge for today and I have yet to miss a workout (even if I did double up once). Also really starting to hammer away with the Paleo diet, but since I have such a sugar addiction, I find I'm getting really bad headaches everyday, so I'm going to try having just a little sugar (i.e. piece of 85% dark chocolate or similar) in between meals when I feel the pain coming on. Hopefully it will help and then I can slowly phase that out. In addition, I'm skipping the full cheat day this week because my birthday is on Saturday and I plan on going balls to the wall, so I need to give myself a little extra to work with.
