Seriously? No takers for dancing?!?!?!? (watch the video behind the link) http://clairemiller86.tumblr.com/post/22837995126/fuckmejomo-new-girl-o-shook-me-all-night-long

That was a weird one... Since so far there was only the original mini-quest post and my reply, I've deleted the whole thing and replaced it with a new one.
-
I will be making a playlist with my songs so I can use it in the future should I need that extra little boost. My first song for this week is a classic: Anyway... feel free to share which songs you choose. We are all different and it will be fun to hear what gets everyone up and dancing!
-
Re-posted after original mini-quest topic (from 08.Oct) was broken... This set of mini-quests is inspired by the cult classic Pulp Fiction. This movie divides people. Some people love it, others find it offensive due to its violence, explicit themes and coarse language. Whatever you think of the movie, we Druids like to find the best in anything. And that is exactly what we are doing. This is the 3rd of 5 short mini-quests. If you are a Druid that completes all 5 mini-quests, you can allocate yourself 1 attribute point (your choice of which attribute gets it). Mini-quests so far are: The Look and The Silence. Mia: I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take ME out and do WHATEVER I WANTED. Now I wanna dance, I wanna win. I want that trophy, so dance good. Mini-Quest 3: THE PLAYLIST (running from 08.Oct to 14.Oct):Last week you experienced silence and hopefully improved your communication skills by listening more and talking less. This week your quest is to find those special songs that make you dance. You know what I am talking about... the songs that get you moving as soon as you hear the first notes. The songs that fill you with energy even on those darkest of days. Throughout this week your task is to find 7 awesome songs, crank up the volume and dance. You can do this 1 song at a time or multiple songs in one day. Whatever works for you. Feel the joy of dancing with wild abandon!

That sounds like a great spot! I think that counts even if you didnt know the mini-quest was on! Oh and the next mini-quest is up! http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/38336-mini-quest-3-the-playlist/

Very true! I am giggling about what people will think when you suddenly start speaking a lot next week. )
-
This mini-quest has so few posts... I guess you are all taking the "less talk" mini-quest to heart! My mother in law is visiting (and has been here for the past 3 weeks). She asked if everything was OK a few days ago... I am usually such a huge chatter-box and suddenly I went quiet. Mostly I was quiet because I am exhausted and struggling to string 2 works together... but I have also been mindful of listening more. I have also slept 2 whole nights without using my iPod to listen to music or podcasts. Plus I have switched off TV/music/radio whenever no one was actively listening or watching.

Its been really inspiring seeing what everyone did for this mini-quest! And how many of us needed a bit of a wardrobe "edit". I got rid of some stuff that was too big (pants and undergarments) and got a new pair of jeans and 2 new workout pants in the smallest adult size (wow!) and new undergarments. I feel like a new woman!

For those that had done this already before the mini-quest was posted: it counts anyway!

This is the 2nd of 5 short mini-quests (changed from last week when we were planning to do 4 short and 1 long quest, now we have 5 short). If you are a Druid that completes all 5 mini-quests, you can allocate yourself 1 attribute point (your choice of which attribute gets it). The first mini-quest was The Look. It was inspiring to read about so many of us needing some wardrobe editing (thanks Eirlys for the new use of this word!)... It is a sign of just how successful our fitness journey is, even if we dont notice a difference in our day to day! Mia: Don't you hate that? Vincent: What? Mia: Uncomfortable silences. Why do we feel it's necessary to yak about bullshit in order to be comfortable? Vincent: I don't know. That's a good question. Mia: That's when you know you've found somebody special. When you can just shut up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence. Short movie clip... to be watched only if you are not offended by explicit language. Mini-Quest 2: THE SILENCE (running from 01.Oct to 07.Oct):For this week your quest is to: Listen more and talk less. Switch off background noise distractions. For example: if you are not actively watching it, switch off the TV.Enjoy quiet time. Silence is priceless.

You're not blind. I only just posted it now...

Day 7-10: 22.Sep-25.Sep: Status quo is slipping. Its been a crazy-busy few days. Quests 1 (tennis) and 2 (move): made it to tennis today and part of yoga tonight. Yesterday I did yoga for toddlers with my girls (2 tennis, 1bw, 2 yoga so far). Quest 3 (fueling): a few good days and 1 neutral day (9 good so far). Been eating OKish and not much snacking. Quest 4 (status quo): 2 good and 2 neutral (7 good so far). house is looking a bit worse than it was a few days ago, needs a bit of picking up. at least today the kitchen is better. in some cases i have remembered to "do it now" and that feels good and the results are always great. our dog has had an upset stomach which caused a lot of extra cleaning and effort. fortunately he is better now. Quest 5 (stay sane): 2 good days and 2 neutral (6 good so far). on 2 days I actually got up early enough that I could get a few things done before it was time to get ready for the day. me time has slipped a bit, I did take a few minutes to watch a tv show and to do some shopping. accomplished: Went and got my ID card renewed. Went and got my passport renewed. Attended parent evening in the kindergarden Went out for a nice morning walk, breakfast and play with the girls and m-i-l on Sunday Researched about tennis racquets and ordered tennis racquets for myself and my daughters. As well as balls. Now we can play outside of lesson time. Worked 3 days. Printed and checked bookings for short holiday coming up. Finally weighed and measured myself. No surprises, my weight is stable and measurements showed I havent been doing much exercise for the past 2 months. Big day tomorrow. Packing, getting ready for visitors, finishing a couple of work items and then long drive.

Yes, I expect that would be the case. Who knows maybe we make it up your way one of these days. If you do, I will be sure to let you know!

This set of mini-quests is inspired by the cult classic Pulp Fiction. This movie divides people. Some people love it, others find it offensive due to its violence, explicit themes and coarse language. Whatever you think of the movie, we Druids like to find the best in anything. And that is exactly what we are going to do over the next 3.5weeks. There will be 5 short mini-quests and 1 three week long mini-quest. If you are a Druid that completes all 5 mini-quests, you can allocate yourself 1 attribute point (your choice of which attribute gets it). Details for the 3 week long mini-quest will be posted separately on the 1st of October. The Wolf: You guys look like... What do they look like, Jimmie? Jimmie: Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks. Jules: Ha-ha-ha. They're your clothes. Short movie clip... to be watched only if you are not offended by blood and explicit language. Mini-Quest 1: THE LOOK (running from 25.Sep to 30.Sep): As we progress on our journey to be fit nerds our body and posture changes. Take a good look at what you wear. Do your clothes fit you well? Are they doing you justice? Are your clothes too loose now? Too tight? No longer your style? Are there holes in your under-garnements? This is not about following the latest fashion trends (you can if that is what makes you happy), it is about figuring out what you need to do so that your wardrobe matches your newly found and ever growing confidence. This may be as simple as getting new socks, ironing your t-shirts or adding a belt to your wardrobe and as big as replacing all your now too large t-shirts and pants one by one. The goal is to evaluate the current status and take that first small step to make things better! You deserve to do this for yourself!

Thanks. If I was going to get annoyed over what I don't do I would be permanently depressed... My expectations for myself are much too high. This little exercise of listing what I did do is actually helping me see that I am doing stuff, in particularly stuff that makes my life richer.

Day 6: 21.Sep: Status quo was maintained. This morning it was great waking up to the results of yesterdays tidying up. Quests 1 (tennis) and 2 (move): went for a 2.7km warm up run then did body weight workout (1 tennis, 1bw so far). Quest 3 (fueling): another good day (6 so far). Breakfast, lunch and dinner were good. Snack: 1 chocolate square, a couple of slices of cold meat and a glass of milk with ovomaltine (post workout). Enough to drink. Had an espresso. Quest 4 (status quo): a good day (5 so far). house is about the same as it was this morning. kitchen is clean. one load of laundry done (currently drying) and onether folded and put away (except for 1 basket that is meant to go in the girls room but I dont want to wake them up). rolled up the air-camping-mattresses and returned the recycling bins to their place. made list of things to get done tomorrow and monday. Quest 5 (stay sane): a good day (4 good so far). got up on time and am going to bed before midnight (i've decided that on friday and saturday staying up later is ok). for me time I had my run and listened to music. accomplished today:Learned how to make plum jelly.Made pressgurka (a swedish recipe for semi-pickeled sliced cucumber)Tried a new bolognese sauce recipe (1 hour of prep/cooking + 4 hours of simmering)Did a bit of a tidy up of the movie libraryEnjoyed time with the girls and m-i-l, including heated board games, a walk to go look at chickens and a flock of sheep and watching part of a local football match (in the stands, not on TV!) while blowing soap bubblesOrdered birthday present for m-i-l.Forgot to weigh and measure myself... must remember to do it tomorrow morning.

Day 5: 20.Sep: Status quo was improved upon. Pretty happy about that! Quests 1 (tennis) and 2 (move): nothing (1 tennis so far). Quest 3 (fueling): another good day (5 so far). Breakfast and dinner were good. Lunch was pretty average to non-existent. No snacking. Probably not enough to drink. Had a coffee. Quest 4 (status quo): a good day (5 so far). house is much better than it was this morning. kitchen is clean, hotstops are tidy and laundry is folded and put away (except for 1 basket that is meant to go in the girls room but I dont want to wake them up). plus I dealt with a shattered cup efficiently and had to clean up after our dog who sadly ate something that didnt agree with his digestive system. Quest 5 (stay sane): a neutral day (3 good so far). got up barely on time and am going to bed close to midnight. no me time, although tidying up the house made me feel good since there were some things that were starting to get to me, I guess that could count as me time. accomplished today:Worked 2 hours.Took girls to an indoor playground (there was so much playing and carrying my toddler up and down things that I feel it should count as a workout).Sorted out down payment for holiday in Portugal.I still havent weighed and measured myself... I guess I'd better do that tomorrow morning.

Thanks. Everyone keeps telling me how great tennis is. I decided to do it because I signed up my daughter for it, I figured it would be good for her to develop her eyesight. Then I realised that if she enjoys it, it might be nice to have someone in the family that can play tennis with her. Personally I did not really have any interest in it. Now that I started taking lessons, I am enjoying the challenge. Status quo with little children and a visitor is even more challenging. So for doing OK. I do drink large amounts of tea. I dont have a "no coffee" policy... but I did cut back on coffee some challenges back and I now keep an eye on it. My problem was I drink coffee at work, then on weekends I don't... I kept getting withdrawal headaches! By reducing the amount of coffee I drink during the week, I stopped getting headaches on the weekend. Vanilla almond milk does sound yummy! Thanks! Have a great weekend too!

Day 4: 19.Sep: Status quo was improved on in some areas and slipped in others... thus staying overall the same. Quests 1 (tennis) and 2 (move): nothing (1 tennis so far). Quest 3 (fueling): another good day (4 so far). Breakfast, lunch and dinner were good. 3 cookies and half a slice of cheese as a snack. Probably not enough to drink. No coffee. Quest 4 (status quo): a good day (4 so far). house is marginally better than it was this morning. Quest 5 (stay sane): a neutral day (3 good so far). got up barely on time and am going to bed at midnight. i did have "me" time, I played a card pattern recognition game for awhile and enjoyed it. plus a nice long chat with m-i-l. accomplished today: Worked 5 hours. Took girls to a trial music lesson. Assisted m-i-l with settling in. Wrote down the plan for the next 2 weeks. Went to the town hall to make sure youngest daughter is on the waiting list for a place in the bigger kids group in the kindergarden Tomorrow will be a big day!

Wow! I read some of it... not all. I have to confess if someone used a tuning fork on me I would probably start giggling. Will be interesting to see if it does work for the allergies! On the gif thing. I am always scared to open warrior challenges because my eyes hurt from all the gifs. Mind you, it is ALWAYS an entertaining experience.

Welcome back! Time permitting is always an issue... as long as you get the walks in thats the main thing! Welcome back! Always glad to see returning faces. Feel free to peek in... and dont feel you need to get the basics under your belt before joining the guild you aspire too! We are all in one form or another working on the basics. How many times do we have to tell you we don't discuss the secret initiate handshake in public.

Day 3: 18.Sep: Status quo was hard to keep today.... but it was a big eventful day with the arrival of my mother in law. Quests 1 (tennis) and 2 (move): tennis lesson, so thats 1 of a possible 5. Quest 3 (fueling): another good day (3 so far). Breakfast and lunch were OK (bread, boiled eggs, banana and yogurt - I didnt feel like cooking). Had half a pastry for afternoon tea. Pumpkin soup for dinner and home made plum tart for dessert (plums picked from a tree in our garden). Enough to drink and no coffee. Quest 4 (status quo): a good day (3 so far). house is marginally worse than it was this morning. I had a list of things I wanted to get done... actually I had 2 lists and forgot about one. Things from the list I followed got done. The other I will have to deal with tomorrow. Quest 5 (stay sane): a good day (3 so far). got up even earlier and am going to bed by 10:30pm again. i didnt really have "me" time... but i had a really good time today with my mother in law and my daughters, somehow that feels like enough. accomplished today: Welcomed mother in law into our home. Taught m-i-l my daughters favourite game so she can play with them. Facilitated the introduction of m-i-l to our routines with our daughters. It all went smoothly. Agreed on the activities for the next 4 weeks... verbally. Tomorrow I write it all down in the calendar so everyone knows whats happening when (we stay flexible, but as we only have 4 weeks, I dont want to forget anything). Got indoor shoes for the tennis hall for both myself and my daughter. Plus snow shoes for my daughter. Baked a plum tart for dessert with daughter (from plums we picked from the tree in our garden) Made first draft for next set of mini-quests. Plus I worked from home 2 hours which I did not expect to do. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to visit a few NF threads!

Its amazing how difficult it can be to get stuff done while at home. Somehow the day is over too quickly. Keeping up with the kid's stuff is not easy either... Thats where a nice simple system can help. I know I would be lost without it. Thanks. I love bamboo and all the mythology stuff that goes with it. I am always amazed at how many Druids do strength training and running. Its been ages since I took that long of a holiday. I am not quite sure I will survive the stress I put myself through at work before a holiday... I may just need to start preparing for 4 weeks off as soon as I am done with this challenge. Once I am on holiday though... I know I will enjoy every minute. Taking time off regularly is a nice way to do things too. The problem with the "Oh who cares its just one thing" is that it turns into "Today is already lost... so another doesnt matter". Mind you I do allow myself the just one thing... life is meant to be fun. Me too! Big fan of zenhabits. I think today I even made the instructor laugh a few times. Apparently the way I move is comical. Had the second lesson today and it is hard keeping track of all my arms & legs, the racket and the ball... and to them move correctly and still hit the ball... and on top of all that get the ball to go where I want it to go? Talk about multitasking!!! I am really enjoying it so I will stick with it for a while longer.
