  1. It did. One of the women at my gym lost her partner for it too. So we're competing together. It all worked out.
  2. I'm not sure what to expect to be honest. I've never done this and this is only the second year of this comp.
  3. I forgot to subscribe to my own thread! Sorry. The heavy weight is combined total of 350. I'm 310ish, so that makes us a heavy weight team by default.
  4. http://www.harrisons...d-total-ii.html Hi, I'm Matt. I was planning to do that competition, but my partner has to work. I'm looking for a woman powerlifter/CrossFitter who might want to do this. We'd have to compete heavy weight because I'm 300 lbs. My lifts are: squat 515#, deadlift 585# and shoulder press 250#. Deadline to sign-up is Jan. 3 -- that's tomorrow! Looking forward to hearing from you!

  7. UPDATE -- Another PR! Slowly, very slowly I pulled 535 pounds Wednesday night in a deadlift. Despite not bringing lunch three out of five days this week, I was able to drop three pounds. I attribute that to paying closer and closer attention to what I do eat for breakfast and dinner just because of the bring-lunch requirement, so I have that going for me. (I'm also making coffee to go. That was something I also bought out.) I made a dentist and optometrist appointment for Aug. 26. I have to get the day off, now. I will schedule a physical next week. Now, to start getting things on the walls.
  8. Found a list for you! http://local.dmv.org/new-jersey/hudson-county/hoboken/local-driving-schools.php
  9. Just take five minutes to Google driving schools. I made my dentist appointment, I left a message for the eye doc and the doc's computer's were down. I have to call both back tomorrow, so I put reminders in my phone. As for everything else, don't worry about the hiccups. You're doing fine.
  10. That would be great! But, I don't really have a desk, or space of any kind at my job. I'm a reporter, and the trend a few years ago was to take the lower level municipal and general assignment reporters and make them mobile journalists, or mojos. There's good motivation behind it, but there's a lot of problems with it, too. I won't get into that. I will say that my editor likes to have me in the newsroom when I am not on another assignment, which is hard because I don't have a desk. I try to find a desk where I can squat for a time each day and heat up a bunch of chicken, broccoli and other goodies in the microwaves. But I have been out in the world the past two days, and that makes it hard to take anything with me. (I just learned I will be out all day tomorrow) I mean, I am trying to eat a lot of calories each day, and the stuff that you can keep in your car can be high in calories, but very low in quality. I haven't quite found the gray area between healthy and unhealthy lunch, yet. The whole job, at least the way the editors prefer to use me, is very focused on the now. It makes my life so much more dependent on the whims and tragedies of the masses rather than on my desire to plan out my day. Dealing with the struggle of having a non-schedule schedule is really the biggest obstacle in my life. I managed to start working out again last year by going to the gym each day at 5:30 a.m. (That was the earliest I could make it and it was the least likely time for me to be called out, but I have been called out at that time and earlier on rare occasions.) So, I've managed to get a handle on working out, making breakfast and dinner (for the most part), but lunch is really the last piece of the puzzle and I think it is a really big part of my nutrition that needs to be improved.
  11. I didn't get home until 10 p.m. last night, so nothing went on the wall. I didn't eat dinner until 11. I had to be out for work about three hours earlier than my usual start time, so I didn't bring lunch. I'll also work until my regular quitting time, so ... Yay, overtime? I did make it to CrossFit last night, and I set a new shoulder press PR: 205 pounds, which is up 30 pounds from my previous attempt. I will likely not make it to CrossFit tonight, because there are issues with my car (none of which I will bore anyone with) that need to be handled tonight. I really would have liked to workout tonight. I need it. Meanwhile, I just started thinking about the doctors.
  12. I think that is the case where ever the majority of people think that drinking is an activity.
  13. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villiany.
  14. Fellow Rebels of New Jersey. I just posted a new topic about a scavenger hunt in Hoboken. Let's take it by storm!
