  1. Well damn, I'm behind on things. Go cavejen go! Congratulations on push-ups and monkey bars. I apparently had a similar childhood, since I am useless for monkey bars and cartwheels. This Supple Leopard business sounds relevant to my interests. Incidentally, that was a piece of ham on its head.
  2. Congratulations on your progress with not smoking! I'd agree-don't give up your pipe! Pipe smoking is one of the few things that can be argued to be good for you (and at least a harmless vice). But you're making great progress it looks like!
  3. Fun! This conveniently matches up with my work doing a step-challenge! So I have all sorts of reasons to get steppin'.
  4. On Monday I checked the monks camp and learned some kung fu! It was fun; my quads were not adequately prepared.
  5. Allergies are evil. Evil evil evil. It's all the bad things about being sick, but since you're not coughing on anyone, vomiting, or contagious, no one says, "Hey, you should go home and get some rest." So this week I did not do many things outside, including morning runs, because the outside tries to make me gouge my eyes out. On Saturday I did not do Konamis; instead I joined Archbishop in his painful mini-quest around the park. He did pretty well with the three miles of mostly running. I ran for the first quarter mile-ish, and then walked the rest. And then we rolled down hills and played in the grass and finished up with the BEST DAMN BURGER. Home-grilled on charcoal, wrapped in lettuce, topped with delicious things....mmm, it was so delectable. Monday I did not run in the morning, but did do intervals of running and walking (3 minutes or 1/4 mile run, 1 minute walk) during lunch and after work. ALSO took my trial kung-fu class for last week's mini challenge, which was SO fun. But they're expensive, so I'll wait to find someone else before I get serious. Tuesday I did 2/3 of my bodyweight workout at lunch, running/walking intervals for 20 minutes after work, and finished the last 1/3 of bodyweight when I got home. Wednesday I stopped trying to be a person despite allergies and stayed home, doing a grand total of no physical activity BUT making very delicious chili. I also ate the really good bread and Irish-milk-made butter that a friend brought over. And a White Russian. And a Peanut Butter Egg. *hangs head in shame* And TODAY I walked 45 minutes at lunch...I have no idea how far it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a few miles. I followed some coworkers on a "step into fitness" walk. Then tonight was weights...and I am so pleased! Warm-up: Five minutes of fast yoga/stretching, 10 Burpees (I hate jumping on our downstairs neighbor's head!) Squats: 15/35#, 10/75#, 5/110# - I am SUPER EXCITED about the 110, because the last time I tried I lost it on the second one and had to ask my spotter to lift the weight off of me. And now I did FIVE. One-hand C/P's: 15/10#, 10/20#, 5/35# - I got three in a row this time on the 35#, and just did two after that! Deadlifts: 15/75#, 10/100#, 4/125# and ONE at 140# This is five pounds more than the heaviest I've lifted before tonight. It is also the sum total of plates we own...so we need to buy more ferserious. Rows: 15/10#, 10/20#, 5/35# Floor-wipers: I got 12 at 65#, up from last week, and then my wrists were angry at me so I had to stop. Rawr. Measurements at the beginning of Week #3 (I just haven't bothered to post them 'til now...oops). Bicep: 10.5 in. (I need to mark myself with a sharpie so I can actually measure this consistently) Chest: 34.5 in. Waist: 27 in. Hips: 37.25 in. Thigh: 20.5 in. (I should probably sharpie this one too) BF%: 20.2% BMI: 22.2
  6. What's the next best thing to free, healthy food? Possibly free, healthy food recipes. I just found this cookbook via a friend, who recommended it highly. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009ZL41WS/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_ask_IXfTF.1ECB0W8 I haven't tried it yet, but once I do I will give my opinion. But hey, how bad can it be? It's free.
  7. Well, damn, the dojo's website appointment scheduling derped on them and didn't actually schedule me for tonight. But I'm still going! Just not until Monday. Grr. *thwarted*
  8. You're doing really well! Great progress on your pushups, weight, and planking. I'm proud of you for how much you're learning. For your "dumbbell" rows, make sure to pull your arm up so that your upper arm is even with your back, or a little further. Keep your back straight, too. With these two things, hopefully you will feel more muscles working. Mostly where I feel it is around my shoulder blade, and the back of my arm.
  9. Hey, misshaps happen. I had a small piece of cake at work this week because there was a birthday party...and it seems bad form to refuse the cake. All the more reason to get those runs in this weekend, right? You'll have extra fuel from the spaghetti! And seriously, good job being social. It can be a pain in the ass, but you went anyway.
  10. Zumba is a great idea. It's enough fun that even on lazy days it's easier to go to because you get to dance, not "just work". Wednesday: run 1/4 mile in the morning, jogged for 10 minutes after work. Should have done more, but I didn't take a lunch because I was distracted by the internets. Thursday: walked/jogged a mile and a bit for 20 minutes. Also weighted workout: 30 Burpees Bent-Over Rows: 10/20#, 10/35#, 10/35# (Per arm) Squats: 15 Bodyweight, 10/35#, 7/75#, 3/105#. Next week I want to do 2 at 110# without losing it like I did a couple weeks ago. Clean/Press: 10/10#, 10/20#, 5/35# (per arm) Deadlifts: 10/30#, 10/75#, 5/105#, 5/120#. Next week I want to get 2 at 135# again. Lost my good form. Floor wipers: 15x3 at 50#. Yay! 45 total! Followed by 10 minutes of yoga.
  11. As Archbishop's wife, damn. That is all.
  12. Too...much...lols! Can't...handle...!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I asked the Google for martial arts studios in my city. One of larger kung-fu places had a "Call or email for a free informational DVD and free trial class!" scrolling across the top of its ill-designed webpage. Now, their follow-through has been sketchy, so I'm not sure if I'll GET it, but that's how you start, I imagine. Perhaps if you check on Groupon or Living Social you might find a similar introductory offer?
  14. I seriously cannot stop watching this GIF. It makes me smirk so much! Fortunately my work has a fruit basket that includes bananas. Speaking of that....*om nom*
  15. I do a little bit of a lot of these things, but I have never visited the Monk camp. I have signed up for a free trial kung fu class on Friday!
  16. That does sound really good. Maybe good enough to convince my husband to have bananas around the house more. (we currently have neither bananas, nor bacon. True tragedy.)
  17. I like the EAS chocolate powder. It tastes okay if you only have water to mix it with, and with whole milk it tastes like a chocolate milk shake! (Even better with a bit of peanut butter, but I try to only add that if I really need the extra calories.) Congratulations on feeling stronger! Soon you'll feel like a lion.
  18. Zumba is fun! Though not nearly as much fun as the Thing-Like-Zumba that I did in Costa Rica. Excellent workout. My arches hurt of all things. Week 2 Stats: Bicep: 11 in.... Ferserious? Chest: 35 in. Waist: 27 in. Yay! Hips: 37.5 in. Thigh: 20 in. BF% : 20%...discovered starting measurement was made at slightly low weight, so was probably a little higher BMI: 22.5 (using the right weight this time)
  19. Cat..nip...mead? What is this sorcery? And can I have some?
  20. Ooh, awesome job! When is the mud run?
  21. Hehe, it is quite the milestone! Ooh, that gives me an idea for a reward... Tonight: 3 rounds 20 24-inch step-ups 10 pull-ups (TEN! Not all together, though. I'm not that awesome...yet) 12 One-leg squats 20 push-ups 1-min plank
  22. You've got me intrigued now...what are you doing in your back yard?
