  1. Day 3 1. food - gold star! I was a super good girl today. 2. recovery day...and I sure can feel those squats. 3. Fail - No cardio, aside from a long dog walk. 4. see #1 - no chips - yeah
  2. haha. I've been a runner for many years and it's definitely a love/hate relationship. For me, most runs are really hard, but during those runs there are moments of pure power and elation. It's those moments that make you love running...and the feeling you have once you are finished. That's pretty awesome too. I'll be interested to hear how you make out. all the best
  3. I think I SUCK. I thought today was Day 1, but apparently it's Day 2... Day 1 - FAIL Day 2 - Success 1. I ate very well today - Good Girl! Well, except for the Coffee Crisp bar i just ate...but it was Halloween size, so I don't think it counts. Otherwise I only ate veggies, fruit, fish and beans. I drank lots of water and feel good about my day. 2. I did the Beginner Body Weight circuit. I used the stairs for my push-ups, I'll have to work up to doing proper ones, and I only did two circuits of squats and lunges. My knees were making horrible crunching noises. 3. Tomorrow will be a cardio day. 4. I did not eat Potato Chips. Yeah! Tomorrow, I think I may hurt a bit. Those exercises were way more difficult than I thought.
  4. Great story Dad. Great Goals. Sign up for a running program, if there is one in your area. All the best to you!
  5. My Major Goal: keep moving to stay healthy. My starting point: 47 years old 150 lbs 5'5" My 6 week Challenge Goals: 1. Lose 10 lbs - eating partially Paleo diet. I see a naturopath who has me eating mostly berries, greens, nuts and fish but I also use protein powder, grains and yogurt. 2. Strength training workouts 3 times per week. I plan to take full advantage of the workouts on the NF site. I would LOVE to lose the flab from my arms. 3. Swim or run for 30 minutes, 3 times per week. I WILL stay on track. 4. NO Potato Chips!! God I love potato chips!! I will NOT cheat. Good luck everyone!!
  6. thanks Hal, yes there are some great instructions on here...with videos to boot. I'm pumped...about getting pumped...groan
  7. Wow, Stacie! You've travelled a rough road. You are so strong. All the best! I will be cheering for you... Brenda
  8. I just stumbled across this site yesterday and was excited to find the simple approach to diet and fitness. I started running 7 years ago and it's been a big part of my life. I've never been fast, but I love the fresh air and social aspects. I've completed a number of half marathons, a couple 25K trail runs and some adventure runs. One of the greatest benefits of running so much was that I could eat just about anything. I've had some health issues which meant I had to stop running long distances. I've gained 15lbs and feel sluggish. I eat well. On good days I eat mostly vegetables and fish...but I cheat. My main goal is to find a good balance that will allow me to keep moving without getting sick. I would like to strength train, but have no idea where to begin. I try to swim regularly, but have recently fallen off that wagon. I'm looking forward to trying out these workouts. Good luck everyone!
