  1. HIIT has proven to increase aerobic capacity more efficiently than endurance training. Tim Ferris goes into great detail in the four hour body about this technique of using HIIT to train for marathons. The results from the Tabata experiment also explains it.
  2. Hey everyone, I am in the process of training for a marathon and am planning the bulk of my program to consist of high intensity interval training. As it has been said many times you don't get stronger in the gym, you get stronger when you rest and your body recovers. But I am not sure how to tell when my cardio system has bounced back, it isn't like weight training where you can feel DOMS. I have been experimenting with 400m sprints in the mornings and then 20:10 tabata rowing in the afternoon. I feel like I am handling the stress fine but I don't have any way to measure the progress of my aerobic/anaerobic systems to ensure that I am improving. Any suggestions for: How long between intervals I should recover for? How much interval training I can do without sabotaging my gains? An accurate means of measuring aerobic/anaerobic systems? Thanks for the help! Bron
  3. I definitely like "Do all the things!" and "Specialization is for insects" A few ideas that come to my mind are: "What we start, we finish." "Anything you can do, I can do too"
  4. Hey, I am new to the forums but have been following the Nerd Fitness Rebellion blog for a while now and I finally decided to get involved in the community since a support group is one of the main things I am missing. I am hoping to improve in all aspects. Up until now I have been completely mediocre, I could lift decently but never that much, I could run decently fast but never the fastest, I am hoping to finally break through my mediocre barrier. I am glad to be here and hope to have some fun together.
