  1. I am right there with you on goal 2 and 4. My PT test is in less than a month and I have always struggled with my run. I can pass everything just fine, but the run always drags my score down I say I'm right there with you on 4, but not exactly. I am in Japan and barley now 3 words in Japanese. Learning Japanese is definetly in my scope, but my girlfriend is Hmong, and I want to learn her language first. Good luck to you
  2. This will be my first six week challenge and I want it to be about quiting bad habits and starting good ones. GOAL ONE: Quit Smoking +2 STA This is something I have struggled with for the bast 5 years. I have "quit" in the past, but always picked it back up. I feel like this should be my number one goal and I know I can do it. GOAL TWO: Bag Lunch +2 CON I am still getting use to the Japanese cuisine and usually don't have time to go home during lunch. Grabbing something quick and unhealthy has been a standard for a while. Cooking my meals the night before and actually taking them with me in the morning! I have made a great lunch, or had left overs from dinner, and left it in my fridge. I'm still learning different recipes as well as tips and tricks in the kitchen, so any advice would be great. GOAL THREE: Workout Plan +2 STR There are plenty of great workout plans out there and I have free access to a very nice gym. Point is I have no excuse for not taking advantage of them...I must stay motivated to go to the gym with a set plan for the day, 5 times a week. I'm not overweight nor skinny, I want to add bulk and tone. GOAL FOUR: Lefty +2 DEX I am right handed and would like to learn to write with my left hand. I have done a little research on it and I am up for the challenge. Learning exactly how I learned with my right hand, with the kindergarten trace the letter worksheets.
  3. I am extremely excited to begin my epic quest, starting with my first 6 week challenge. A little background, Nerd Fitness has saved my life. I moved to Japan in June, and have had a difficult time coping. I started searching on YouTube for inspiration when I came across Steve's Ted talk. I hated being here and didn't know how I was going to make it for the next three years. After watching Steve's Epic Quest talk, I gained a new outlook and knew I had to level up my own life. I never was big on working out or going to the gym at all besides doing parkour. I liked the thought of weight training and bulking up, but I could never get a good start. The next day, I was speaking to a co-worker about my interest in starting a workout/diet plan. He shared the interest, but also the ignorance. We had no idea where to start. Reading about various workout plans, exercises, recipes etc., we still didn't get it. "Okay so day 1 do chest"...what? how much weight? what exercise? I wanted to give up before we started. I get a call later that week from him saying he has a friend that is willing to teach us. Finally, we have a solid start. We met with his friend and he broke it down so simply. We started going to the gym every week day at 1930. I don't know why we didn't just go in after reading a workout plan and try it out. It never dawned on me to establish a base and work from there, but now I have it. Two weeks go by and I'm feeling good. Still green in nuturition and form, but just as eager to learn. I drank my protein powder and lifted heavy but soon lost motivation after our new friend went out of town for a month. I haven't been to the gym in over a week and after reading the post about the 6 week challenge, I knew I had to get back on the horse. I'm still deciding on realistic yet challenging goals, but I have another day. At the end of this challenge, I hope to have a greater understanding of fitness, nutrition and the NF community.
